A really beautiful, intimate and professional interview. One comes away with a sense how Noah's thoughtfulness, complexities, intentions and processes result in the brilliant, richly textured and gorgeous music he and AC create.
That was my first listen when I knew he went solo...had been an animal collective fan before. I think all of his solo stuff has turned out really great though. Tomboy was just as good, if not better. I also heard a song from his newest album, coming out this year and it sounded so good...very excited for this album.
great interview, cant wait for the AC album. it's been almost a year since i saw them with their new material and it's been driving me absolutely crazy
Panda Bear is pretty much a combination of Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson born in our generation and influenced by even more genres than they were. That's how I see it. His melodies a pretty similar to both of theirs and the harmonies and reverb is a lot like Brian Wilson, only Panda Bear uses way more.
I have a feeling the next album will sorta meet in the middle between Person Pitch and Tomboy and the songs he wrote for Merriweather. In Merriweather they created most of the samples, Person Pitch was sampled from existing songs, and then Tomboy was just drum loops with him playing guitar with tons of effects and synth. i think it whatever the new album is, will be what Hz Centipede would have been had they still continued in a similar direction they went with MPP.
@ladyrosbif really? mpp was so so powerful. Sj was good too but not as huge of an impact. Centipede Hz is nice but I don't get as much of the raw emotion that I felt was in the others.....but on another note, whether you like any of their albums or not, seeing them live is just a whole brand new experience on it's own. I'm very happy they are touring again and they will be in my hood in 2 weeks woo!
I wanna read Animal Collective's e-mails so bad.
"David, can you yell a bit more in this track?"
"It's definitely a good thing that I work with my best friends". Tfw not in a band making sweet jams with my best friends ;_;
