I’ve been lucky enough to get a good bit of rounds on almost all duty rated cans thanks to my friendship with my LGS. I’ve shot them and been to the left and right of the rifle for them all as well. I can say the Sierra 5 is fully outclassed in price, weight, length, sound suppression and flash suppression by the OCL polonium K. The polonium line in general is my favorite duty cam after shooting them all. I can definitely tell the difference between sound suppression of the Sierra 5 and the polonium S the k I can’t tell the sound difference but I can definitely tell the flash difference in low light. The flow 556 is about equal in flash but a lot quieter at the shooter and more expensive. I love dead air but at the time they released this two weirdos in a trailer park already had made a better can for less $$. I was gunna get another dedicated 556 can and it was gunna be the Sierra 5, but after shooting it I decided I only will buy a polonium or flow 556 for now.
I get that the cuts increase surface are which in theory dissipates heat quicker, but let me tell you from actual use in the summer in Alabama, it stays hot for awhile… but they do serve several practical purposes. thanks for watching!
Soon as it's off backorder I will definitely be picking one of these up. So happy to see it performs as good as description. I have a dead air sandman L and very happy.
You think we can get a video on flash suppression comparisons for 556 at night? Different caliber cans with different end caps, etc? Possibly different ammo as well?
@@bryanduchane2371 yeah I watched that one. I just know I’ve seen videos where it didn’t quite hold up to the rc2 which is one of the routes I’m considering taking. That, polonium, or oss, and possibly Sierra 5. The main criteria is flash suppression
Great review. Thank you. Nice to hear the comparison of the Sandman S. Also nice to hear the back pressure is not too harsh. Really looking forward to it.
Great review man, covered all the bases. Been really looking forward to a review like this on this can. Definitely going to pick one up. Appreciate it brother.
It definitely is, that scope is unique and it can lead to some challenging mounting situations. That is one of the solutions just kinda worried if i were to drop it or something. Thanks for watching!
Great review! Was patiently waiting for this one. I got lucky and found one at a local shop, so I just paid for mine today actually. Really glad to hear your thoughts versus the Sandman S, as that's my current 5.56 can. I'll be running this Sierra 5 on 8", 10" and 11.5" barrels mostly, so I'm glad to hear it seems to do well there and that the back pressure isn't too intense. Plus with the light weight and small size I might even use it on some of my 16" rifles too. Great stuff as always - thanks again!

Can't wait for you to review the new pws 7.62 suppressor. I'm looking to get one or one of these Sierra 5s. Either will complete my mk111 mod 2 m build
Well, we have a full video on the Xeno mounting system, you could check that out. Keymo is another great option that also features ratcheting retention. I probably need to do a full video on that as well. Both are good, both can be used for any application. However I would say that while either can do anything Xeno leans toward precision type use, and Key leans toward hard use like short barrel 556 fast shooting. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately I saw a reddit post about someone putting less than 250 rounds into it before getting a catastrophic baffle strike and apparently Dead Air's customer service on the issue has been pretty piss poor.
Great review as always with the comparisons and variety of host guns! I'm still happy I went with the OCL Polonium after your video on that and the Pew Science numbers! Still the muzzle suppression king of all 5.56 cans ahead of the Sierra and even the new HUXWURX FLOW 5.56 can. But for guns who wanna focus on size and weight on the end of the gun this seems a solid option!

The polonium line out classes the Sierra 5 in flash oppression, sound suppression, and back pressure in my opinion. The sierra 5 didn’t beat the polonium k in any of the categories that matter to me (cost, weight, length, sound suppression, flash suppression, and durability.) im actually disappointed how often the Sierra 5 spits a line of fire.
