    My 340th 😊 after a 54 km bicicleride in Zeeland (the Netherlands) where we circled the last 20 km in yes... rain. We took a shower drank some very 11,5 procent alcohol bear from the B and B owner who was also a bearbrewer, we were surprised by a sunny evening. So what would be the sherry of the cake, yes a video of my favorite and friend Diane!😊 sorry the alcohol caused a not so careful watching, but your voice was familiar and made my evening very happy. Just in time of the end of this video I saw some nice national Netherlands flowers😂. Thanks for accompanying my holidayevening 😊wim

    This is lovely Diane. I love your enthusiasm. I’ve had a set of 3 water brushes for some years now but have rarely used them. They all have different shape brush heads. They were one of those ‘must haves’ that get relegated to the drawer and never see the light of day again. After your lovely tulip tutorial maybe I’ll give them another go. Thank you for sharing.

      Yes! You'll love it! I would suggest you don't take the valve out to fill them though. That probably causes leakage of water!

    So simple yet beautiful! I have a bunch of water brushes all shapes and sizes. They are wonderful to use when sitting around the table with my young grandkids while we are painting together. No more spilled water cups! I also got them tiny spritzer bottles (mistake!)(turned into a free for all spray war - was actually fun - it is only water afterall). And we use drinking straws (skinny ones). They put a good puddle of paint down with the water brush then blow the paint around with the straw. With ink, they create funny birds or trees or burst balloons. It is great fun! Thank you for your inspiration!

      Wonderful! That's good to hear. I was amazed at how differently the paint behaves when it is being pushed on to the paper from the water behind it, rather than being carried into the. paper by a wet brush you have to keep dipping. Quite a different (and I think, more controllable) method.

    I’m going to go play! I LOVE my Kuratake brush! In fact, this reminds me to put some more in my cart for next month. I primarily use my water brush for swatches and mixing. Just left a comment on the short for this…I am completely head over heels with my new paints! I think I’ll go do this in my sketchbook to warm up…
    I need to play with some purple mixes since my purple sock on my tiger swam into the shoe 😂. I’m thinking purple + one of my yellows for the shoe. These paints are separating a bit on sized Xuan, (when I use mixtures)..so, I guess my tiger will have some fashionable colored shoes! I used the magenta rose with a tiny bit of PBk11 for the jacket on the tiger…I swear, it looks just like what you would expect of a wool coat! 😂

    What a great idea with the colour cards. I googled it yesterday and read that each colour card has half a colour pot in it. Amazing 🤓 I bought a water brush like that years ago. When I tried to use it, the water ran out uncontrollably. Since then it's been lying in the drawer 🙄I probably acted stupidly. I love your idea, Diane, with the quick greeting card. So simple, so quick and so good looking, I can do THAT too 😁
    Maybe i will try it once again with my water brush...

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sylvia, thanks for your comments, very interesting. I am not sure that there is as much paint on one of the cards as Viviva say - a half pan is a heck of a lot of paint, and some of my cards are already looking a bit depleted. But the colors are really great, pure and bright and they dry the same as they look when they are wet, which is a really good thing! It seems that everyone has a waterbrush somewhere lying neglected in a drawer. Time to drag them out and make them do some work!

    Delightful - and that you ended up with a Kuratake waterbrush is perfect. There are a lot of them out there and a lot of them put out way too much water! There are much more expensive types, with push buttons to add more water which sound wonderful, but I've not tried those. I have tried several and this one is my favorite. Mine came in a Koi watercolor set! I think the thing that can be frustrating when using more than one brand is that this one comes apart the opposite of the usual righty-tighty-lefty-loosie and I've seen reviews where people think it is useless because they cannot get it open! I so enjoy your videos!

      I think the more complicated something is in general the less useful. I like these Kuretake pens because they are so simple. I don't know how long it will last, but they aren't too expensive to replace every year or so. Do you find it easier to paint with than a normal brush? I think they are surprisingly versatile, I can hardly believe it!

    I am going to have to try mine again. I can see I was using to much water. I was at the beginning of my watercolor lessons and I think I was a bad student. LOL Thanks Diane for another great watercolor tutorial. The flowers are beautiful!

      I think the waterbrush is very liberating and we will all learn a lot about water control and pigment behaviour by using one from time to time. I found I made a big leap forward in my art when I switched my palette to more primary colors. All helps.

    Hi, Diane...Water brushes differ from maker to maker I have found. I often carry one in my pocket or purse and a small pad if I need to add color to quick sketches. Your brush, I believe can be filled without submerging in water, remove the little black control ‘thing’ (so technical!) and fill from tap, reinsert black thing and you are good to go. Childrens book author illustrator Shoo Rayner has videos where he uses them...older, but good. Love the flowers going to try them on a card as suggested. Thank you as always.

      Thanks Susan, have you seen the Beste Fountain Brushes? They look like a step up in quality from the one I have got. Hard to find these things over here in France. I did try to get the black stopper out but couldn’t shift it!!! So the submarine system had to work 😂😂😂

      I've had a set of 3 Kuretake waterbrushes for a number of years, possibly when they first came out (I think about 2006). I agree with another comment, they are excellent! I have tried one Pentel waterbrush and don't care for the bulbous barrel, it felt awkward in my hand. I did try to remove the black stopper to fill the barrel, but ended up discovering that it was easier to hold the barrel (with black stopper intact) under a gently running water spigot, squeezing and filling, repeating until filled. It is a fast, easy method. I have never filled the barrel with water+paint, always have only used clean water. These brushes also work very well with watercolor pencils.
      Diane, I have so enjoyed your videos. I had a very long (8 years), dry spell when I had no desire to paint. I unpacked my supplies in June of 2020 and find your videos to be exactly what I need!! Thank YOU!!!
