Ive had EO Techs since I got my first 552 around 2008. EO Tech is the best passive aiming NV optic. Ive got a lot of rifles, but anything setup for NV use has an EO Tech on it.
I’ve used Eotech at work and it’s my favorite for our shorties. I don’t really need the riser to be able to passively aim but yes it makes it easier. I never had the thermal shift but we also got issued some brand new ones after that. It’s also the best cqb reticle. Your holds in close is using the bottom of the reticle.
The thermal shift is imperceptible. The issue L3 had was that they were marketed as zero parallax which was the key selling point over aimpoint. So any measurable known zero shift was grounds for the lawsuit. Not that it actually made any difference to the end user (and Eotech does in fact have the least parallax shift out of any red dot). Eotech now uses the term "little parallax" in their marketing.
They did that on purpose and gave our greatest enemies our greatest tech for reverse engineering passive is the way of the future and has been for a while
Love my EXPS3. You're right that it makes passive aiming easy with it's clear glass. They are kinda expensive compared to red dots, but if you put them against other night vision accessories, they start looking downright cheap.
I've been running the same version of EOTECH for at least 5 years and have no complaints. I spend more on Monsters than I do feeding it batteries so it's not a big deal for me. I turn it off when not in use and have another RDS I use just for my house gun.
I’m a kind of an RMR hater, but that thing’s performance on a pistol at night is fantastic. The housing almost disappears so I’m left with a dot that I can pickup and track a lot better than I can during the day.
Love my EXPS3 and Vortex micro 3x both on Unity FAST mounts on my 14.5” BCM. Only downside for me is obviously the battery life so i don’t use them on my home defense AR. For HD, I’ll use a T2 or AEMS.
When I first started this game I was using a 552a 😂 bulky huge but it lasted 13yrs of severe abuse. Dropped, ran over, fell out of a helo roughly 45ft it was dented scratched but still 0. I retired last year.
My issue i always found passive aiming with my EOTECH is its blurry and the reticle has alot going on instead of a dot. A high rise red dot, it doesnt matter because its just a dot. If i use an Iris, obviously that removes that issue and its fine...but now everything is darker. But outdoors...thats fine. My issue is EXTREME low light indoors. I have an M300V on an articulating mount on my helmet so i point it up to get an umbrella IR light so my NODs see better, but its sooooo bright, that it actually washes out the NV reticle even on its highest setting. So most of the time, im just still using my laser. But im willing to take that compromise because the EOTECH is just my favorite optic. I spent two years going back and forth between my EOTECH and my Aimpoint...and I kept going back to my EOTECH and now its on my favorite carbine for good
Eotech...reduced forward signature...uses the same cr123 in your flashlight for spares...the circle dot can be used for ranging...and since it is a hologram projected into the empty space of the housing, you can literally break the glass out and it will still run.
As always, a ton a great information! I definitely disagree with you guys though...anything with a single dot and NV brightness will be MUCH better than any EOTECH for passive NV shooting. The circle dot obstructs your target as shown in your footage.
If youve watched shawn ryan, he said hes never seen an eotech go down & multiple aimpoints go down. & hes a seal & cia contractor. I trust his words lol
So I’m not a fan of the Eotech optics. They are always super fuzzy for me. It’s always really difficult for me to shoot them because of that issue. Red dots or prisms work better for me.
If you're staring directly at the reticle then that's most likely why. You should be looking THRU the reticle, at the target and just holding the dot over what you want to hit.
Nice I hope you got to use our discount code. If not, when you buy again from them make sure you use our discount code. It’s on our Instagram highlights. Or the description of these videos
the reason why I would not run a laser is legal reasons, in germany they are illegal, so passive aiming is the only option for me also weight, I try to keep the weight down
I have both. The trijicon seems like it has minor magnification to it like 1.1x, hardly perceivable. It also has a lot more parallax shift, which is even more noticeable under NODS. The EO Tech kicks it's ass under night vision, during daylight they're both perfectly usable, but I still prefer the EO Tech.
You can do a parallel or converging for the 18 years I have been using lasers we have always done converging it’s easier to do less of a pain and we usually do it at 100 yards or if we have a 50 yard zero we will do it at 50 yards. With the MAWL there is a specific way you have to zero that and I believe parallel zero is the only way you’ll get the most out of that laser. But that is the distance we have always used, and I know a bunch of other units that always did that as well and most of the time their engagement were at night and it worked fine for the distances they were using.
That is a whole conversation on its own and also we talk a lot about it in depth in our ghost fighter Night Vision Class neither is wrong. It’s just personal preference at the end of the day.
The Holosun AEMS has a very clean image, I have about 120 hours on mine so far under NODS. Another option to consider.
Also, more aems sizes to be released soon (I think this year)

Yeah, the EO Tech has so many hidden secrets that make it super

The disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal will proliferate night vision across the globe. Passive aiming will be necessary going forward
@@assclapper2231 I can guarantee China is reverse engineering 3rd gen night vision taken from Afghanistan as we speak.
We have been using passive aiming since 2018 and you are correct Night Vision will become a common use item globally in conflicts for the future

You can find used ones for a decent price
Still cheaper than a T2
I have an XPS3-0 I have run it with a Holosun 3x magnifier. I switched to a Holosun HE515GR to cut some weight since I don’t use Nods.
I love the Aimpoint CompM4s.
Those are also bombproof. I have seen some in some of the worst conditions, and beaten up and you so hard, and they are still running.

Yeah, I think some of the earlier problems with the EO Tech are overstated now

The raidworx is my new favorite eotech riser

I bought an EXPS3 because of this video, and I am planning to train with you guys soon. Thanks for the content and wisdom.

I just wish it had auto-on/auto-off. Here's to hoping an EXPS-4 is on the way with that feature.
the new ones like the xps have auto-off
It does, 1st arrow closest to you shuts off at 8 hour, the next arrow is 4 hours, or you can push both arrows at the same time it turns off the site.
Sorry, but it obviously doesn't have auto on
Euro optic has these at good prices right now and some demo models. Very Lightly used or blems. I bought 2.
have you guys tried the single dot eotech ? thoughts on it ?

Probably astigmatism, get checked.
Yeah, definitely make sure you pick what works best for you
It seems kind of odd but with the eotechs, you REALLY have to make your eyes focus on the target to get s clean reticle
