Wu Li(www.wulimusic.com)
Composed by 陶一陌 (Tao Yi Mo), 為吳莉北京演奏會而作specially for WuLi's Beijing recital.
The GuZheng solo shows a picture of "joyous water, beautiful ripples, glinting lights and soft waves".The song adopts a unique tune-up to perform the fresh and elegant music, endowing the guzheng with a brand-new artistic conception.
This is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Very talented.
5 Stars. Her playing style and the music match perfectly. This is something that any westerner could easily understand. It has the flavor of French impressionism. Very refined and elegant I hope the composer and performer makes it "big enough" so I can hear more of this collaboration in the west.
she's great...1 of my favourite guzheng player
what can I say? I'm blown away, I've never even dreamed of hearing something like this!!! Such a striking talent, technique, composition and instrument!!!
By the way, this is close to latvian Kokle, lithuanian Kankle, Russian Gusli too, I guess. I'm learning kokle for a few years, and, even if this instrument is different, this is a perfect lesson of how great you can be! I enjoyed it very much, thank you for posting this!!! I wish to learn it too,but suppose,Latvia is too far from China... :)
Guzheng is beautiful ...absolutely beautifully played...I was given one for nothing in a car park by a stranger today-Hence the search on youtube...This is the best i seen so far..wow...thank you, i loved it!Dont think i will learn this art though, will sell it on ebay.ANYONE INTERESTED?lol...
what a so beautiful music world!!!!!!!! thanks a lot for all this humanity! peace, music and love, for ever!............!
Her play is tender and soft. The way she use her left hand is real good. Apsolute beautiful played. I live in Norway and we have now tradition for this play, we have other zither forms, but this was real good.
Thanks. I play some sither myself. German zither.
That's a really pure "eurasian" sound- that's what I call WORLD MUSIC!
Fantastic, one of the best music I've ever heard with Guzheng!!
Yours from Germany,
Volker
This artist is amazing at her craft. I have been in a trance for the last 10 minutes. This is my favorite of the Traditional Chinese instruments. I have always wanted to learn, and just might have found my inspiration.
wow she makes it look so effortless and elegant. i can't believe she played for almost 10 minutes
Wow. Very stirring, and she sells the performance very nicely.
I agree with your ( Volker400 )comments. I always enjoy Guzheng.
Thanks,
Tomwong100
one of the most beautiful songs i've heard. wish i could have see the perfomance in person.
Nive to hear such good playing. I live in Norway and we have no tradition with this instrument. But I play some german zither. This was more than good. Evergood.
Real nice.

I wish i could play like her.
awesome.
omg her lunzhi is so nice :D
Hello, my dear "Dollar". You're absolutely right.
Both of them - composer and performer are chinese. But the tone-scale which sounds here isn't the typical chinese-style. Sounds more like european or american-"stylish".
Sorry about my bad English- I hope you understand my "nonsense".
Best regards from Germany,
Volker
wow i think i'm in love with this instrument. it's like classical guitar.. but different. where can i learn it? in america..
really nice^^
That bit at around 3:24 is stunning.
You absolutely misunderstood me!! I'm not talking about Guzheng! I'm talking about the tone-scale, the tuning of the Guzheng, and that is, in this case, absolutely european played also with chinese technique!!
So, also you can say: Guzheng played between two "worlds"- chinese (sound of the guzheng) and european (only meant the tuning and tone scale).
BTW, I think, Guzheng and Guqin are the most
beatifull instruments I've ever heard.
And BTW: I also play Guzheng!!
Best regards
Volker
Where there are Chinese immigrants, there are guzheng teachers. You might ask the local Chinese club to get the imformation.
wow this is amazingly beautiful, and it seems to me to be both traditional and a fusion perhaps of some western elements as well. if not, no big deal, no offense meant. i just think it is so beautiful, i push play and lay back in my recliner and rest like a baby.
Does anyone know where I can get a recording of this? Besides this video of course. It is truly wonderful and inspired.
yeah that was pretty crazy
Wu Li's technique is excellent, but this piece feels so cold to me. Not like sadness, but devoid of human spirit.
Excellent ! I do not like modern Chinese Gu Zheng music too much, but this one is different.
@wingplum , my feeling is the same as yours.
I would like to buy this box of dvd where I can buy it ? please tell me
anyone else notice a out of tune string in the bass somewhere, listen at around 00:59, thats when i first noticed it. sounds like a #11 or something??
It's specially tuned,not traditional chinese 5-scale tune.
@SYeInDartC

Versuch's einfach mal.

i wonder what chinese written music looks like or traditionally, or how westernized this is. i don't like that 12 girl group bullshit but this is really nice.
