The shiny rails must have looked like a cattle guard to them. The first steer stopped, stiff-legged and head down and would not move so none of the others did either. Finally one of cowboys got a rope around the critter's horns and literally dragged it across the tracks. All the others followed (this is a clear example of the "herd mentality"). You have to be a bit of a country kid and maybe had to be there, but it was pretty funny.
