Just to add that tamping squeezes out the pockets of air which gives a greater thermal mass but lower insulation values and uses more materials. maybe not an issue in Aus but definitely a consideration in colder climates.

Yes an important consideration. And in this part of Australia it definitely does get cold and we are heating for more of the year than not.

@@enduringdomainarchitecture which part is that? I'm definitely putting a trip to Oz on my bucket list.

@@binmanblog Victoria in the south-east. We have 4 seasons. I think its one of the most difficult climate types to design for because you get the extremes of temperature throughout the year, and even from day to day. But it is a beautiful part of the world, for when we actually get to travel abroad again!

A very well designed house. Is there any chance you would be willing to sell the house plans?

Hi Mitchell. I'm not sure. Would you like to send us an email to our business at hello@enduringdomain.com.au

normaly you don't tamp the middel. only the side of the temporary forms. you lose a lot off insulation iff you tamp it

Here’s a question: hempcrete is hemp & lime concrete. Lime his high alkaline. Does this mean I can not put hempcrete in contact with galvanised steel?

Hi Peter. That, I'm not sure of. Intuitively I avoid using steel framing in this kind of natural building where you may get differential movement between the steel which is very stiff, and anything surrounding it like hempcrete, strawbale, adobe, which might crack and allow moisture to get in. I would want steel to be completely thermally isolated (surrounded by insulative material) so that it does not conduct heat into or out of the building or have condensation form.

@@enduringdomainarchitecture hi. Thanks for the reply. One day I asked “why” do I want cargo shipping container. My answer was “because it’s abundant & cheap or ‘cheap’”.
So, I didn’t need a cargo container, what do I want? The steel frame.
I’m at the point where I’m researching options. I’m pondering SIP over hempcrete insulation

@@peterxyz3541 SIP is good too and we are working more with that now and will be adding some more videos examining the benefits of SIP construction.
