Thanks for this demo. I've been using SwingU phone app for 10 years but their SG data entry was getting me angry so I just pulled the trigger and ordered the V5.
Nice one! The V5 is a really solid watch from Shot Scope and the level of stats/data you get access to is excellent, especially the SG info. I've got plenty of other videos on my channel showing you how to edit your rounds etc. so be sure to check those out if you need to!
@@AndysGolfBlog Yeah. your video cleared up all my doubts about the depth of SG data. For me I need a solid web platform as I'm not messing around on a small phone. so having both is a win. And I'm definitely not paying the Garmin tax! WIll have a look at the videos. you got yourself a new sub.
I really like being able to use this analysis. Having come from competitive cycling, one of the first thing I did when I started to play golf again was to invest in Shotscope. I share the data with my coach, and it informs our sessions together. For me, the area that I lost most shots is approach play from 150-200 yds, so that’s a big focus for improvement in 2024.
Completely agree. As mentioned in the video, I’m really not known for my love of data or ability to interpret it, but I really like looking at my Shot Scope data and working out where I can make some improvements. Glad you’ve not looked at the shots plotted stats - I think this is a real hidden gem within the data and 100% something worth paying close attention to. Hope you enjoyed the video and I also hope that it’s useful for others. I think I’ll maybe make more videos looking at my other performance data, perhaps a short series as there is so much to explore!!
Great that you’ve also got a plan of action for 150-200. I suspect this is an area that many amateurs struggle with. My success rate from this range from the fairway was 31% last year, so clearly work to be done there too!
interesting deep dive into your stats and how to interpret them. I think I'll go back and compare my 2023 to 2022. I'll bet your drives in 2022 were longer on average due to the drier weather in 2022 and firmer conditions
Thanks for watching and the comment. There could be a range of reasons, really. The warmer and firmer conditions could be right, I also perhaps played more links rounds that year which always helps. I think i mentioned that it could have been due to using my 3W but I suspect (although I'm not certain) that the Driving distance stat is purely based on using the driver. It's always interesting to go back and take a look, though. I genuinely felt like I played better golf last year, so it's nice to have the data there to back that up. Definitely didn't think I was that many strokes better, though!!
Andy, when using the x5 and distance/swing tracking does my phone have to be on my person at all times. What happens if I lose connection because I get out of Bluetooth or wi-fi connection? does it automatically sync back up when I get close to my phone?
No, absolutely no requirement to have your phone with you with the X5. The phone/app is only required for the initial set up, firmware and course updates, and synching finished rounds. All that you need when playing is to have you X5 on the correct wrist and your club tags correctly assigned. Choose 'Play' > 'GPS+Track', choose your course, tees and scoring, and you're good to go. When you're ready, use the mobile app alongside the X5 to sync your round. Hope this helps!
Thanks Andy, you're the best. I actually went to my local PGA Superstore here in Chicago and bought the X5 today. I use a Skycaddie SX500 for distances, and I am looking forward to adding this into my game.
Great video again really helpful. Do you know if you can access course analysis for only 9 holes played? I can’t access it on mine it says only on complete rounds. I feel this annoying as most of my rounds are 9 due to family commitments. Look forward to more similar videos👍🏌🏻♂️ thanks
Thanks for the kind comment. I can see a course analysis for my 9 hole course but I'm wondering if you can't see yours because it's perhaps an 18 hole course you only normally play 9 holes on. I suspect in order for you to be able to see the course analysis, you'll likely have to have recorded at least 18 holes in one round before it'll show? If that's not the issue, it could either be that you've omitted the round from appearing in your statistics when saving (it'll have an icon with a bar chart with a line through it to the left of the course name within the Rounds section of the dashboard if that's the case), or that you've got the 'complete rounds only' button toggled on within the Course Analysis screen. That said, I can see from the Comments area of this page that others have mentioned about only being available for 18 holes. I think this may be one that would be worth passing to Shot Scope support for some clarity: support@shotscope.com. Hopefully they can give you an answer. Please do let me know if they do!

I’ve never looked at the shots plotted analysis before. Just dived into last season on Lansdowne. Horror show 😱

Nice to hear and hope it serves you well! It’s a great watch and it’s so handy to have access to these stats and insights about your game! Play well!
