I'm a Seventh Day Adventist, who believes God created the Universe through Evolution. While many will argue that if God didn't create the World or the Universe in one literal week the Sabbath would be meaningless, I have to disagree. Today we take for granted that we have a two day weekend. But when Moses wrote the Creation story having one day to rest was unheard of. The Israelites were surrounded by Pagan nations who believed people were made to do the dirty work the gods didn't want to do. They believed people couldn't do anything without the gods' permission, and so Moses wrote to the Israelites, who had been slaves in Egypt for 400 years, the reason we are to rest on the Seventh Day is because God did after creating the World in six day and wants us to do the same. God said to Daniel in Daniel 12:4 that Knowledge would increase in the Time of the End, and today we know more about the Universe than the people in Ancient times did. We know about the Galaxies and the Atoms. We know the Earth orbits the Sun. We know that having a day or two to rest is good for our health. We also know there is a lot more that we have to learn. But no matter how the World and the Universe came into existence, we can all agree that it was the work of the Lord.
Are you going to speak on the russia-ukraine crisis. Do we have SDA members over there? Can we get to know their perspective on how best to help as a church? At the very least can you send a memo to all sdas to have fasting and prayer this sabbath for Ukraine Russia conflict? If my people ....
