I had just finished wasting my time watching a useless video in how to connect this gadget when I ran into yours and boy what a difference in explaining how’s it done. You included everything there is to connect it and made it work while the other ones left me halfway hanging. Great Simple to follow video and got mine working beautifully. Thanks so much!!! Keep up the good work!!! New Member here.
@@TomLeeman wanted to mention also that I am hard of hearing and that what the reason for purchasing the headphones. As I live alone, it was a bit complicated trying to connect them by myself but your video certainly eased it for me. Thanks again.
Tom Leeman, I was having trouble getting my new headset to work, until I found the correct audio out port on my Samsung TV, It works great now and I like the way the headset works independently of the TV speakers, so that others can turn down the TV as low as they want, but I can turn up my headset as loud as I want, Thanks for this video.
Tom, great demonstration. I just got a Philips Headphone set for TV. You can't even find the batteries on it. And you have a booklet manual. It's not so easy man. If the Sony you are showing can hook up to my new but non Smart TV I am going to go with those. I can't explain how much simpler this is and I've hooked up TV's to VCR DVD and stereo receivers. I actually recorded recorded VHS tape bits onto cassette tapes. but that was simple compared to the Philips headphones for TV. Your Sony set up is so much simpler and clearer. Glad I found it.
@@bigmoemedina313 i think it depends on the TV's settings. I'm having trouble too and I'd be real sorry sending these back. Has no one found a workaround to make both outputs play at the same time?
Your video was very helpful.....In fact, I actually had the batteries in backwards....(smile). However, to get the audio to play on both headphones and TV..... I actually had to go into the TV setup and select both. Now.....the TV volumn can be down to zero, however, I still have plenty of volumn on my headphones.
Perfect and detailed explanation. I just bought such a Sony wireless headphone system and was told in the shop that it works for all TVs. But unfortunately not for my Samsung TV. My TV has no headphone jack and also no red and white jack, only a digital audio output. But the Sony headphone does not come with such a cable. Has anybody any suggestions what I can do, is there an adapter that turns digital sound (from my TV) into analog sound (to the Sony headphone)? Thank you for any help.
Sometimes you can use an optical splitter for additional devices like sound boxes and headphones, but these are the old style plug unfortunately and some TVs just don’t have that
Great video tutorial on these headphones! Just one thing, about your deciding to not keep them due to audio not being heard in the room: Your TV apparently does not have the RCA audio out, and that is what you'd use (instead of the 3.5mm port) in order to use the headphone while also having audio for others in the room. I saw that explained on a different video. Now, I have to examine the outputs on my mother's TV and make sure hers has the RCA outputs. She lives in a nursing home with a deaf roommate who blasts HER TV so much my mom can't hear hers.
Excellent tips I purchased a different had said that use the optical cable and I put a splitter on it so I could run a box and the headphones and the TV all at once that was my fix our work around but good information thank you and thanks for watching
Yes I did find one but what I had to purchase was an optical splitter I have a couple videos on that because I did have a sound box connected to the Roku so using the optical splitter the sound box and the headphones would work at the same time that the TV did good luck thanks for watching
Tom, thanks for the video. Very helpful! Two quick things: - how do I get sound going to only the headphones? I am looking for zero to come out of TV speakers... - What does one do if you don't have a dedicated headphone jack (complete with symbol and everything)? I really wish my tv (likely from about 2009) had that because it would make things simpler. Thanks again!
with these when you insert headphone jack it usually turns off tv speakers if not u can just turn down the volume on the exterior speakers if not you may need a optical splitter good luck thanks for watching
Thank you for posting this video - very helpful. I am stuck on replacing the battery cover. It just won’t “smoosh “ for me. What can I be doing wrong with something that should be so simple. Appreciate any advise
Hi Tom, thanks for the video and the very detailed instructions. I watched all of the video until I got to the Roku TV VS Headphones and I'm in dismay since I too have the Roku TV (I realize now why it had a big discount). My question is, the headphones also include RCA cables and an adapter. Would it be possible to connect the RCA cables from the TV to the headphones tower using the adapter and still maintain both functions (headphones AND speakers)?
I could not make it work with either so I purchased Avantree HT280 wireless headphone and a SPDIF TosLink 4 to 1 Audio optical splitter and then I could hook up to 4 devices to the audio and use the head phones with the TV speakers here is a video on it th-cam.com/video/2f_B2bEqem0/w-d-xo.html
@@TomLeeman thanks Tom. I've just cancelled the Sony shipment and ordered the Avantree HT280. Just one more question, do I really need the SPDIF Toslink? I only plan to use the optical to hook the headphones and no other devices
Thank you for the video! Tell me please, what about the balance? I mean if we put battarey in one side doesn't it upset the balance making one side a bit heavier than other?
Hi Tom, just got my device and i followed all the steps. However, as soon as I put the heaphone onto the tower, the red light came on the went away within a minute but the heaphone does not shows a green light like yours. Keep in mind that the batteries are in. Can you please help?
That’s the problem with these. Unfortunately, if you get a set of headphones with Optical cable, you can use a splitter and put it to a sound bar and the headphones and the TVs. Regular speakers will also still play
Thanks for this video. Can anyone help my problem? My headphone working only at youtube. I tried netflix, tv cable no sounds. Im using analog audio converter optical to rca. Thank you!
Yes you can! Do you have a little adapter that makes it available for plugging into a phone sometimes you have to purchase one. I have some videos on that depending on the kind of found that you have.
Did anyone discover how to have these work when plugging in something like a Firestick? They work on our personal JVC TV and yet now we're traveling and we can't get them to work on the LG TV where we're staying. Our Firestick works great on this TV, not the headphones though. Any ideas appreciated!
I don't think that the ability to hear both speakers and headphones has anything to do with the headphones model. That's generally a setup matter, some TVs allow for it, some cable boxes have independent outputs, same goes for home theater amplifiers.
I actually bought an optical splitter and purchased some other headphones that allowed me to connect it to my sound box and the TV so that you can listen to it on headphones at the same time people in the room can listen to it on the regular speakers but you’ll have to purchase different headphones in these unfortunately good luck thanks for watching
