Why to cover from rain, isnt water good for plants

It is usually done for vines which are pruned when Monsoon starts.
If one able to get good production for this early pruning during monsoon, they can earn really great money as there is no much availability of Grapes in market, so people take risks to earn more.
The covering is to save from rain.
Usual rates varies between ₹25-₹80 per kg but for early pruning it is from ₹80 to ₹120 per kg.
