I had the unfortunate experience of meeting John Derek I was working as I can executor at one of our local motion, picture rental houses here in Hollywood Mr. Derek walks in with his beautiful wife, and being impatient and privileged at the same time decided to verbally assault me. I will call his wife like hiding behind one of our posters in total embarrassment. I recalled without any provocation calling me an asshole my boss heard this and challenge Mr. Derek to apologize. He then told my boss to meet him outside for a round of fisticuffs mind you, my employer was in the 60s and not in very good health My employer immediately barred him on the premises. What a complete jerk.

      Please. Not so fast.
He, John Derek, lived in my hometown in Santa Ynez, CA. I even once had breakfast at a tiny breakfast place there ( Santa Ynez) with him and his wife and sister in law Whereby, sometimes you were sat down with strangers at a tiny 4 person table. Being ( I think) young, blond and surfer/ tennis player, I was sat having breakfast with John Derek, Bo Derek and her sister. Funny that nothing special occurred. Except small talk. Normal stuff.

      Yes. Indeed.
      Everyone in Hollywood is groomed.

It’s very sad that he never truly found happiness in his life. And the media had it in for him, making fun of him at every opportunity, almost to the extent of character assassination at one point. I had forgotten about his marriage to Bo Derek.

Half the class wrote to Caroline Kennedy, but I wrote to John Derek, c/o Revue Studios. My letter probably went right in the circular file. No matter - my infatuation was soon shifted to "Destry" (John Gavin) which lasted a mere 13 episodes! Thank heavens for John Astin's Gomez Addams, my next crush and a much bigger TV success! 🤣

My hero of all-time is James Dean. I'm 64 and 'found' Jimmy in 1975 when I was 15. I've read so many books on him. I read many times that Jimmy asked a friend to introduce him to Ursula. But although they dated quite briefly, Ursula told Jimmy that she was waiting for her lover, John Derek to take her back. He had of course split up with Pier Angel. A couple of his pals said that Jimmy had told them that he was falling in love with Ursula. Had he lived, I wonder if she would have stayed with Jimmy, and maybe they would have married? Lucky girl, having 2 handsome men vying for her!! I think Jimmy was the better catch though!! 😊But of course, had he known me, I'd have stolen his heart, I'm sure😮😅
