The spectator mode is basically useless. I always use an ipad or my phone to connect my goggle when I want to share my video with others, and it will give both of us a better experience since I don’t need to sacrifice my link quality and they will be seeing a more stable stream.
Just tried this afternoon with digiview and it's OK for me! I only discovered that when you share the video with digiview dji v2 do not register a dvr. Did you face the same thing? Thanks in advance
I just purchased a second pair of Integra goggles to bring others along with me in flight and I can confirm that it still hasn't been fixed unfortunately (as of March of 2024). I updated both goggles to 01.05.00.00 firmware. The second pair of goggles receives the signal in audience mode clear but starts to get really choppy at around only 200 to 300 feet away clear line of sight which makes it very undesirable to view. I don't know any other way other than I fly off my phone screen using the DJI fly app and give my passenger the goggles.
Great video! Very interesting. When i first got into digital with dji v1 with vistas., as a spectator just put your googles in the same channel as the pilotand it worked fine. I have upgraded to the o3 with googles 2 which by the way is such a huge improvement that i get excited each time i fly. I connect my googles 2 to my samsung fold 4 via usbc cable, when the phone senses a connection the DJI fly app opens, you click go fly and booooom the beautiful 1080p google view with all the telemetry is visible on the phone. It works perfectly without a glitch!,! So much better than digiview and the v1's. Thank you dji for letting this happen!!!
Very cool: You answered one of the questions I had: Can I use the V2 as spectator when flying the Goggles 2 (as I have one each). Great. Do I have to have the latest firmware on the V2? I still have that on a very early firmware version to use the 1200 mW hack with the DJI FPV drone/Vista...
My experience with audience mode has been that positioning the user similar to the main pilot and facing the same direction improves it more than you would expect. I think the reason is that the audience goggles can use re-sent packets but can not request them. In your testing the goggles are positioned differently enough that I think this could have made the performance of audience mode a little worse for both systems. I have heard people say over and over that the goggles can not use re-sent packets but think that is not accurate and that it just that they can’t request a packet. Putting my hands near the side of the audience mode goggles seems to support this theory as the signal seems to degrade from this at any distance. If using audience mode, I think it is important to position viewers as similar to the main pilot as possible and instruct audience mode pilots to avoid putting hands near the goggles for the best viewing experience.
Thanks Ian. Although i'm flying Walksnail ... I learned more about the digital systems. And about the possible WS audience mode problems. Didn't see the importance of the package checks.
Hi, I’ve noticed you have the iflight transmitter, I have this on some used goggles I got but does the iflight work on the dji fpv or are they just for other custom built fpv drones
It’s sad bc watching pals fly used to be the most fun part of fpv. I came across pictures of me and all my pals with goggles on watching taking turns flying and cheering each other on. We’ve completely lost that aspect of community in the hobby thanks dji
Sadly no, to spectate with vista on Goggle V1 or V2 it can only be those goggles. When using the vista on the Goggle 2 you can you one Goggles 2 to spectate.
I tried this over the weekend with an AVATA and two sets of Goggles 2 and the Pixelation was very apparrent and at the time I thought I was losing signal so did not fly for very long. I think it would be better if you could (like analogue) just select to receive the video feed from the drone with no connection between the two sets of goggles.
Hi, I have Avata , one goggles 2 and one goggles V2. Is it possible to make goggles 2 primary for pilot and V2 for spectator? If yes how should I do that?
Only one question, does it matter that you've replaced two of the stock antenna on the Goggles V2 with a single band directional "Patch" Antenna? Just asking... Personally, I'm sure it's trash either way but maybe this might cause it to be better or worse than stock. Just thought I'd ask.
@@MadRC Fair enough... I admit that I haven't even looked into this... So it doesn't work that one set of goggles sends the data to the other but rather both goggles receive the data from the Air Unit? I've learned something!!! If one set of goggles send the image to the other then ant may play a part but not if they both receive the data from a central point. Hmmm good to know!!!
Is there any way of using a second pair of goggles on the cable that would normally feed a second viewer on say an iPad or iPhone? I realise that it is taking a few steps backwards and believe that for the money we pay for the dji tech we should be able to view i. A second set of goggles remotely and with as much quality as the flyers goggles. I ask as I would like to teach my 6 year old how to fly using firstly the motion controller (and then later on migrate to sticks) whilst both sharing the same view from an Avata. If anyone can shed any light on these questions it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
Interesting, never tried audience mode. A request... Given the new update news, Integras and fpv with other dji birds, can you test please the position with FCC hack here in UK. Appreciated 😊
Hi Ian, I have the avata + motion contoller 2 + goggles 2 kit and I need to get live video to send it to a portable tv transmitter through a hdmi cable, do you have any idea how to achieve that? Thanks in advance for your help.
There is no hdmi out on DJI FPV. You may be able to connect the goggles to the DJI RC Pro but Iv not tested this my self. The only other thing you could try is casting a android or IOS device to something else with HDMI out from the fly App
I didn’t notice any of this kind of breakup with goggles 2 and goggles integra, but the video quality on both the primary and spectator goggles was noticeably worse in spectator mode.
I don't think your testing is complete, I've tested audience mode between two G2 goggles or G2 and Integra, the goggles do transmit, you also get a warning that the bit-rate will be lower when audience mode in on, even so the image in audience mode is perfect with no breakup at all and full OSD on the audience goggles as well
I tested G2 and Integer before and again no difference. There is nothing Iv seen regardless of goggles to show anything has changed. The reason the display changes is the system drops the codec to allow for H264. However even with G2 or Integra as a second goggle I see the same issues.
Imagine a Police or a Thief sneaking up BEHIND YOU AND YOUR VO WHO IS WATCHING AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION AROUND THEM AND Blammo! - No more drone , possibly no more you! - Another reason I do Not support the Remote ID either, Same Thing could happen!
First 🥇😬 Edit: Mad. Can you do video on how to connect the DJI V2 goggles so i can watch my friends flying their fpv racing drones? It has Never worked for us... Thank you.
You have to turn both goggles down to 25mbps, set the channel on the flyer's goggles, then the 2nd pair of goggles just goes to the player menu to watch the available streams. Sadly doesnt work on 50mbps mode, and we rarely fly 25mbps
Its simply not possible with current technology as they designed it. They would have to create a wifi re-transmission from the first goggles out and have wifi in the second goggles picking it up (or goggles broadcasting udp to a full audience who is streaming.... I bet a future iteration will having something like this for audience mode.
Both kids are in v2’s. I find when im close with the 03 they arent complaining of lag, when im far out they complain of glitchyness. Thanks Ian.
Yea O3 is much better at close range than the original system. However as you say once you get out a bit it start to struggle like the V1.

It was the V1 master that had the patch. I flew with the V2 in stock antenna config. I did this on purpose to take antenna out the equation.
