    People give you a lot of flack, but you know your stuff and you're a better teacher than most.
    Once I got past the cornball jokes, you've been in my top five most informative youtubers since I started woodworking. And possibly the absolute most helpful concerning my personal needs and skill level. most importantly, you're excellent at addressing the little steps in between the big ones without getting bogged down in details. You don't get enough credit, Jerry Seinfeld!

      +donny karate Thank you. I know my style isn't for everyone. I may not be serious, but i take woodworking serious. Thank you for giving us a chance. And yes, when Seinfeld was on tv, I heard that everywhere. Even fooled a few people introducing myself as him. :-)

    Nice job on the lantern Chad! Would love to see a test of how long it takes for it to go up in flames...if it even does.

    Ok, so where can I get a banjo playing drill? Mine only plays the clarinet. Um, looks like you can flip pancakes with that ginormous chisel! Might need to give this project a whirl for some outdoor lanterns for our deck! Cheers!

      dowels instead of screws

  • @robaldridge6505
    @robaldridge6505 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    get rid of the phillips screws and add an air hole in the bottom to get a better draft= brighter light....

    I wonder if it would produce more light with one or more panels being a mirror. Of course it would be directional vs unidirectional.
    Thoughts?

      Thank you Bill. It is fun to make, just be careful fitting the glass. Other than that, it's pretty easy. Hope you subscribe to the channel and check out what we are doing for our viewers this Monday!

    Very nice, would adding a Tin/brass shield on the underside of the top piece, or would that produce to much heat, Beautiful Piece

    • @ChadStanton
      @ChadStanton  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sterling Davis That's actually a good idea. I had someone else suggest that to me as well. I do know if the candle is too tall it can burn the underside of the top lid.

    How were the posts attached on originals ... back in the day (It was probably a Wednesday)? Did they use screws or nails? Dowels? Maybe mortise the posts into the base?

    Hi How do you swap out the glass panels if one breaks? You have everything glued and screwed in. Just curious.

    I have lantern that is similar that is used for pre-1840 camps we go to. Just a suggestion, use a piece of mirror for the back pane and it should give a touch more light.

    • @ChadStanton
