    some thoughts:
    - We want to be clickbaited, says TH-cam :p
    - Great variation in music on time lapses. We all love time-lapse
    - To pull guide pin from m111 head, long m6 bolt, m6 nut near top, through long 11 or 12mm socket, screw in guide pin. Hold bolt head, turn the nut and the guide comes right out.
    - This episode's length was absolutely PERFECT.
    - Just keep making content how you like it, don't overthink time lapses or clickbait titles... You're doing great imo.
    can't wait for the next episode

    Great video mate, I have a quick question that I cant seem to find an answer to, I know this engine can be fitted into a W209 CLK200 but would there be too much issues with such conversion? Would you have heard of any other successful W209 CLK200 conversions?
    Cheers

      @@Georgealex77 it can be done but not with the 209 ECU you would have to go to a standalone engine management system, the reason for this is the M111 uses a Bosch ECU and the w209 M111 Evo uses a Siemens management system. Marcin is the best person to ask as he had a high power m111 209 and is now M104 powered. You can find him on TH-cam easy enough. Hope that helps

    I'm nearly done getting one of these back together after changing out a blown head gasket, all the timing chain bits up front, the oil pump, and many other 'while I was in there' things. I do not like this engine. It's far too much work to access the timing chain and guides than it should be, and it's ridiculous they didn't make the front sub frame removable for better access to the oil pan. There are far too many ways to make a mistake on reassembly. Trying to slip the new oil pump between the bottom of the engine with the oil pan hanging down, all the while trying to make sure the o-ring that seals the oil pump to the block doesn't get bumped out of place was a major pita. Installing the new timing chain proved more trouble than it should've been as well. Getting the alignment right while installing the exhaust cam sprocket was troublesome...There's a couple of o-rings used on this engine to seal the EGR valve and the front coolant passage to the head that you have to be very careful of to insure they stay in place on reassembly. The coolant passage one in particular, if it falls away while installing the front head cover to the head, or even if you're disassembling it, goes right down to the bottom of the timing cover. These issues simply wouldn't be there if the engineers at Mercedes had considered the many 'what if's' in working on the cars they produce.

      @@tempest411 you certainly have to have patience with this engine, I agree there as many ways things could have been done better and I must admit I prefer engines with a timing belt over chain for ease of maintenance. Doing the job in the car is a massive challenge, it's hard enough out of the car, these engines do make you work for it, but for the most part other than that frustrating poor quality headgasket they installed from the factory these engines will run forever in stock form, in my opinion if Mercedes would have used a MLS headgasket these would have been so much better, and a timing belt would have made maintenance easier, but for longevity I understand the reason for using a chain. But as much as I like to push these engines I completely agree how difficult they are to work on.

    Hi there
    I have a 2003;W203 C180 Kompressor. Want to upgrade the Timing Chain to a stronger unit. Cant find anything in Australia,could you please help

    • @M-oneeleven-M111
      @M-oneeleven-M111  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hi, unfortunately I don't believe there is an upgrade for the timing chain other than your choice of aftermarket brands and their independent quality differences. unfortunately the M111 timing chains and the 350 V6s having a tendancy to stretch and snap in worst cases seems to be more prevalent in warmer climates I'm not sure if the actual cause of this I would just say a lack of testing with the metals used for those conditions. I often use FAI timing chains and have never had an issue with the chains even when the engines have internally destroyed themselves. the quality does seem better than stock that's the best advice I can give. I hope that helps thank you for watching

    So i have a 01 slk230 with pulley upgrade race exhaust manifold and some other things done to it. It keeps running very lean at higher rpm sometimes it kicks me into security mode or that could be overboost mode. How do i stop running lean i do not want to damage engine and i want full hp potential. Will a magnum tuning box stop this or?

    • @M-oneeleven-M111
      @M-oneeleven-M111  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is basically the cars overboost protection as the boost level is going above the level of fuel that can be provided to reach the AFR target in the ECU. but it's basically due to the fuel injectors possibly not keeping up, unfortunately with these "bolt on" pulleys they are not "bolt on" and actually do require a fair bit of supporting work depending on how the pulley mod is done, if it's a Speer sleeve over crank pulley normally are not too bad on the facelift, however if it is a pulley change on the supercharger that absolutely requires a Remap in order to run correctly. However it could be worth fitting a fresh fuel filter incase that's partially blocked and just restricting fuel flow enough to lean it off. But it's quite likely that it's fuel injectors not keeping up, I believe the facelift runs Siemens deka injectors but I can't off the top of my head tell you what size, but in any case a remap should be performed, tuning boxes can work but personally I don't recommend them as they tend to alter the signals from sensors to the ECU which can ultimately still cause engine damage.

      @@M-oneeleven-M111 is it possible to remap a Siemens ecu or would i need to change out my ecu? Also you are my biggest influence on this motor since i know these head gaskets can be absolutely trash at times.

      @@M-oneeleven-M111 also it is a 69mm supercharger pulley upgrade and i took out the restrictor plate to the eaton m45 the tuning box has 4 out of 5 star rating so i am leaning towards that but a remap is around the same price i just would have to drive an hour away for that and also read somewhere the Siemens ecu isnt remapable but the tuning box comes with supporting maf sensor map sensor and i think another one but im not quite sure it says i can put diodes and resisters in to trick the ecu into not going into overboost mode but honestly id rather have overboost mode than a blown up engine. @@itsdoom7892 hey buddy, sorry it's took a while I don't always get notifications on responses. The m111 Evo which is your engine has less liability to suffer headgasket issues so you don't need to worry too much about that, the Siemens ECU can be remapped and is actually more widely remapped than the earlier M111s Bosch ECU. Honestly I prefer remaps because a remap is actually tuning the ECU to that engine and the hardware, where as most tuning boxes sort of just modify the signal from sensors to the ECU but still use the stock map, so you don't see the same benefits as you would with a remap. Engine wise the stock engine will hold up to anything you throw at it through the M45 supercharger as long as you can fix your fuelling which a remap should do for you

    Easy way to lock the cam is just using the shortest valvecover bolts.
    And for gods sake. Make sure your crank pulley is tightened PROPERLY.
    Henche Performance rods are rifle drilled you are looking for that.

      Don't worry I've seen crank pulleys come off, it ain't no joke I always make sure things are properly tight and loctited where it's required too, I'm not just a hobby mechanic it's my profession. But that's true about the valve cover bolts I think that's what Ben uses. Hench do a full kit too with rods pistons and dual valve springs, it's not a bad price either to be fair 👍

      not that I know of, however this engine was bought specifically for this project, I have no doubt I could have bolted this into a car and used it without issue, however I bought this engine to try to create a Frankenstein motor with honestly so far quite random Mercedes components, however I'm struggling to find pistons that will allow it to work without having a crazy low compression ratio.
