As a yorkshire man that used to live in wales and often fished llandudno, your videos bring back a lot of good memories! If your fishing between the 8th and 12th of may im gonna have to come and meet you! 🎣🎣
It’s a sea scorpion John, not poisonous, the fish that you may be thinking of is the lesser weaver which has a poisonous spine that people often step on when wading out in bare feet.
Great video John. It was a long spined scorpion fish. I caught one off Llandudno North shore back in December - was the same as you thinking what the hell was it!!!!!!
Good session, good fun on that beach sometimes, the fish was a harmless scorpion ( probably people already said that ) I should think the bang on the rod as you were reeling in was possibly the lead hitting one of the huge boulders out there , gets very shallow at low water too 👍👍🤠
God good are those worms or snakes 😂 that fish you caught was a scorpion fish they have blue mouths 😅. The hits that you were feeling could of been a bass chasing the wighting it happened to me the other night the bass came right in close following it 😅 good video fella . Tight lines
John my man, that definitely was not a Weaver! If you don't know what a Weaver looks like for heavens sake look it up because if you get yourself "tagged" by a Weaver" you will almost certainly know about it - And I speak from experience from when I grabbed a Weaver that was hidden in a clump of weed when I had a Shrimp Boat (The Saint Margaret) up in Fleetwood! Stay Safe! Please keep the videos coming!
Well done John you have a good break out there . Yes mate that little fish that you get is poisonous and his name is scorpaena. Take care buddy and tight lines 🎣👊
There's 2 spieces of Scorpion fish in the uk also called bullhead the long spine which you had they do get bigger 30cm max and the short spine that goes 60cm and up to 3lb I was fishing Dartmouth and a kid down from me cought the biggest bullhead probably short spine I've ever seen on a crab line I had to unhook it it filled the bottom of the bucket
Looked like great fun, weavers have a noticeable black dorsal fin come in 2 types lesser & greater I believe. You should search for the treatment to a sting doesn’t involve plasters 😂
Great video John that spot you can fish 24/7 an catch all day that's were I was hanging around last year if it's true an the pier is £6 I might give it a go again but no way I'm paying £10 to be kicked off at 8pm it use to be £2.50 for 24 hours or an I showing my age lol
It wasn't a weaver it is known as: Sea Scorpion, Granny Fish, Bullhead, Lesser Bullhead, Clobberfish, Sculpin, Long-horned Sea Sculpin, Lucky Proach, ‘Terror of the Rockpools’
Hiya mate that was a Long Spined Sea Scorpion and quite a big one! Have you spoken to the guy you met the other night that was not in a good place? I haven't stopped thinking about him since the video, I really hope he's ok? 🎣👍
Definately a Scorpian fish..smashing wee fish colours on the belly. . No poisonous. A weaver is poisonous but smaller slimner more like a mini whiting with spiny dorsal fin that's the danger bit..
John Weaver fish look like pin Whiting and have an ugly face and a sharp spine on the back which is what injects you and believe me its bloody painful That was a specimen scorpion fish a great catch on north shore
Nice one John, fish is fish 👍 Now I don't want to sound like a nobed but you just filmed yourself retaining undersized fish, legal limit for whiting I think is 27cm. Im just thinking of you buddy we all know 90% don't go back anyway but wouldn't want you getting in trouble for the sake of a video, maybe an edit needed 🤣 Obviously you didn't do it on purpose or wouldn't of filmed them. Take care buddy 👍
Wow didn’t know that buddy thanks for the info I’ll definitely keep than on board now, I rarely keep any fish, I think this is the first time I’ve ever, I see so many videos on TH-cam of people using these little whiting as bait I thought it was ok….. Lesson learned buddy and thanks for the heads up 🤝
@@GKJ-FISHING Yeah I know they do, check yourself but I'm 99% sure it's illegal to retain undersized for any reason, wouldn't want you getting slapped with a fine for a bit of conger bait.
Scorpion fish John, great video again hope all is going good for you 🤟

Hi John, I think the fish you got was an agile fish.I think you only get them in very clear water in the shollows. Hope this helps you.👍👍
