Anthony Jackson ; has been apart of my bass fabric for 3 decades I'm 45yrs young he's still, imbeded in my playing no matter what aproach of music. R.I.P. ART FARMER& BOB BERG. thank you for posting this rare live kickass performance.
This is totally amazing and true...where the heck was I doing in 1990....thanks for uploading. I don't understand the dislikes! maybe those people are still into rap
Was looking for vids of Anthony Jackson, and came across this. God I miss Bob Berg. The first time seeing him was with Mike Stern at the Iron Horse in Northampton, Mass in the late 80's...Dennis Chambers was on drums, and if memory serves, Lincoln Goines on bass. They all blew me away, especially Bob. So sad he he's gone.
Hey Rick, thanks so much for this - I had it on a VHS from years back on a late night jazz show here in the UK, been looking for it for ages! I love Robben (I'm a guitarist) but Bernard Purdy is sooo groovy on this, and Anthony Jackson is amazing. Thanks again
Not sure if it was released on DVD but I believe this is from a video titled Rhythmstick. Features a bunch of different performances by different combos of players. Awesome!
Hi Rick, First thanks for shearing these breathtaking clips!!! Can I listen the whole Robben Ford solo somewhere? Do you have it till the end? Thanks, Attila
@romainlabaye Usually they don't, but just look at the performance of "The Chicken" from Jaco's modern electric bass-video and tell me they don't look a bit alike when Jaco has that particular hairstyle.
Yeah he's great. It depresses me that there's been such a swing back towards acoustic bass players in this idiom. It's pretty snobby out there right now. Unlike most upright players, the difference here is that you can easily hear every pitch that Mr. Jackson is choosing, whereas upright players don't face the same scrutiny.
@Pastorius333 Yes, I see the resemblance. That greasy pulled back hair, the big forehead and the big smile. Just needs those too short tight white pants Jaco used to wear pulled up to his rib cage!

It's called Rhythmstick. Looks like it was never released on DVD and on amazon it's only available used. Incredible music!
I'm af unk bass player and I have to admit, This IS swinging. I'm going to have to learn how to walk through them changes.
You mean the video with John Scofield and
Kenwood Dennard from his Modern Electric Bass-DVD? That is the video I was referring to!

Hi Rick, First thanks for shearing these breathtaking clips!!! Can I listen the whole Robben Ford solo somewhere? Do you have it till the end? Thanks, Attila
Your welcome! Hope you enjoy it!
Phil Woods plays like Richie Cole and Richie Cole plays like Phil Woods.
I took one look at the guitar and style and said....Robben Ford.
Sixteen people need to lay on a train track and wait there.
Nice(:
Hi Rick. Do you know if the entire performance this clip is taken from exists on DVD?
Nice
Dear Rick,
what was the name of the video this was taken from? Thanks....
bob with giants!
that's show!
What's the name of this song, it's beautiful !!!
Rick, do you agree that Robben Ford
looks a bit like Jaco Pastorius in this
video?
Dios mio
Where can we hear more of this ?
genial el corte del minuto 3:03
@romainlabaye
Usually they don't, but just look at the

look a bit alike when Jaco has that particular

There should be HD version for at least a sound of this vid - barely audible bass.
@rockrock3090
I never said it was important. I just pointed it out.
wasn't this tune in BEVERLY HILLS COP?
@jabbipp56 Hi what is the name of the video?
@Pastorius333 Almost...Just a little bit
Does anyone have changes for this song?
+Mateusz Dorobek The New Real Book 2 has this tune.
Thanks, I asked this question one year ago :D
or the theme just reminds me of the movie.
contrabutt, n1
Yeah, those 5 must be deaf as hell...lol. Because this is MUSIC, in capital letters.
DUDE!! Jimmy McGriff!! Get outta here!! The Bird Wave!!
Yeah he's great. It depresses me that there's been such a swing back towards acoustic bass players in this idiom. It's pretty snobby out there right now. whao
:D
ughh....why'd you chop Ford's solo.....
This whole track is variations of the lick lmao
@Pastorius333 not at all !!
Um, thats a pretty good band.
@Pastorius333 Yes, I see the resemblance. That greasy pulled back hair, the big forehead and the big smile. Just needs those too short tight white pants Jaco used to wear pulled up to his rib cage!
