Love this! I fish that area in Manhattan all the time. Mostly chunking bunker for stripers at night. And yes the juvenile seabass are everywhere, I caught a bunch last night on jigheads and gulp.
Chunking bass on the river at night is a relaxing time. Should get into some good action in a few weeks. Thank you for watching Extrasauce7972, hope you are having a fun fishing season
@extrasauce7972 being on the jersey side I usually go south of Manhattan in the raritan in the fall. I may try the east side as it's much closer for me. Im a night guy too.
I was fishing upstate New York, decided to cross an old train bridge that crossed the water. Halfway across jumping from railroad tie to railroad tie, I looked down and the waves and current gave me that vertigo your talking about i almost fell off the bridge. 😅
It can really mess with you. Something about the vertical movement of the ship with the horizontal tidal flow and focusing on the lure was too much haha. Glad you can relate! Thank you Henrye718
Hey Bob! Great video. Thanks for sharing. The sea bass is taking over everything. I remember catching 7 at once using the sabiki. You should try to catch some silver slides using the sabiki. Good bait and good if you get the large ones fried up.
I haven’t been fishing in years, but you’re getting me interested in doing so again. I live in Jersey City and I’m just thinking about whipping out my freshwater rig with cash Masters and seeing what snapper blues might be in the neighborhood although everything else that you’re catching has me thinking about dropping some bait at liberty Parkor Bayonne Park.
lots of snapper around! They're a blast to catch. That freshwater rig will work great. Totally, drop down some bait. The sea bass bite is pretty solid and they should get bigger as the water cools off
I would get a kick outta folks asking me what I was doing when I would walk in Central Park in the early 90s with a fishing rod. Like, whadda ya think I'm doin?😂 Great video!
Early 90's in the city must've been a lot of fun. I've gotten really used to it, the fishing rod kinda opens up conversation which ain't bad. Met some nice people but peace and quiet is tough to find. Cheers fishn365, thank you for watching
@arsfishing 😅😂🤣 That would be awesome! The best was when tourists would stop and snap pics. Largies, Crappies, Bluegills and gigantic Carp...it was great
Damn bob! Another great vid- very relaxing to watch. Sea bass nurseries are a great thing for our waters. Once in cape cod I was wreck fishing and hit very large sea bass! They actually have a really nice blue/purple coloration as they mature. Also great eating when large. Anyway, another great video brotha. Always on the lookout for your videos, stay well fall fishing is upon us.
Cape cod is a wonderful place, I would love to spend more time up there later in life. Oh yah the big sea bass get some insane colors. Really beautiful fish, and I agree they taste amazing. Oh yeah Fall is totally in motion, cheers bud
Do you ever try fishing the Jetty at Fort Totten in Queens? It looks like such a promising spot but i never catch anything whenever i go. I only use artificial though. Would be a good video from you
Hey Kevin, yes I have fished it a few times. Not too bad in the Summer. Its relatively shallow from what I remember, I bet there are spot croaker and porgy over there
They ain't bad! I have tested them a bunch and have some clam/crab/squid I think. Fish gum works better. But I don't like how hard it is to get that style of bait off the hook. The webbing material gets stuck

Hey AZ, thats a good idea with the sabiki. Theres been silversides all over and it does make great bait. Appreciate you watching AZ!
You’re awesome, Bro. Enjoy your work.
You are also awesome TheCDPNetwork. I appreciate you watching the channel

@fishn365 how about lugging a 34" bass on subway lol. I've never done but I think I may try

Fun stuff!
Thank you Stefan!
Hi Bob, can you recommend a few of your favorite braid to fluoro knots for this kind of fishing? Much appreciated !
Hey, I used to do the FG but it takes a long time to tie so I have been using Uni to Uni. No problems and landed some big ones with the Uni to Uni
@@BobAquatic Thanks for taking the time, super helpful!

Yeah micro fishing can be super fun when it’s slow
For sure! thank you ZaviaaD
Catching bait,yay
Oh yeah we are having some fun out in NYC!
Are those sea bass legal to keep? Seems it would be easy to fill the grill.
Not at the size he was catching. In New York they need to be at least 16.5 inches. They are tasty though.
Hey, minimum size on them in NY is 16.5" . They are very tasty but don't yield as much per-fish as some other species. One of my favorites to eat
Bob kool video from NYC.....would love to see you do a demo session using only FISHBITES sometime thanx

@@BobAquatic I have been having amazing results using the blood worm style fish bites…
What brand of pole is that for your spinning reel
G Loomis GCX Inshore
I surfed the East river back in the day!
Then i got hep c and died. But i got better 😂
I am glad your feeling better!
In the hudson by me no one uses artificials cus its sooooo murky. I am gonna try and pull it off though
I bet gulp would work with the scent. Totally worth a shot
bro ive been dying to try the east side
Its a good time, can be pretty loud though. Tough to film but it was nice to experience it on Labor Day with no construction noise
Can you do a strip bass video at the Dumbo fishing pier
I'll try! I got kicked out last time. I don't know if your allowed to fish there or not
I’m tired of seasbass 😅 that’s all I’m catching.
I feel you, its all changing up though. Should be more striped bass friendly water pretty soon
I didnt realize people fish in Manhattan. Thats a lot of seabass. We had to navigate treacherous jetty just to get seabass.
Its a fun place to fish, yeah this time of year they are all over. You don't have to go far to catch them and most piers will have them
Anybody fish the hudson side? Been catching croakers (small usually) no stripers or blue fish so far. Only been twice for a short time though.
I just checked in the discription
Cheers bud, thank you for watching
Where do I park my car?
@@Fishrofmen2 wherever you can find parking in NYC. I ride a bicycle
Not sure what the point is to keep catching fish that small and throwing them back in the water
