I had a similar experience with my undergrad. At the start, I thought I'd be writing my thesis about one of two ideas, but by the end I'd discovered a whole other thing that I hadn't known existed before, and I really enjoyed doing a deep-dive into it. Congrats on finding your niche!

Thanks for making this video! I'm currently going into my senior year of high school, and I'm considering long-term career paths; one of which is academia in the area of anthropology/archeology. This was helpful in terms of seeing what my life might be like in grad school.

Your work sounds interesting. You are smart to consider how the work might affect your long-term health.

Estoy estudiando español a este momento tan es graciosa yo veo tu vídeo ahora por que yo recuerdo tu vídeos en estudiando la misma, jajaja. No soy bueno tan yo esperanza esa tú puedes entender qué estoy deciendo lol. I think it’s really impressive work that you’re doing and you should feel very proud of yourself and it’s been very interesting to see your channel change over time. Do you have any recommendations for black feminists to read? I’m just getting into philosophy (100 pages into the Republic by Plato) and I’m excited to start reading more critical thought; and black political thought is something that’s incredibly interesting which I’d like to be read in.

Thank you for this lovely comment!! I'm linking Jouelzy's Book Club List and video discussions she's done on these books. That is where I got started in 2019 or so, and a couple of these books we also read in grad school as well bookshop.org/lists/exploration-track-archive and www.youtube.com/@SBGBookClub

honestly if I did it again I'd watch her interviews with the authors of the texts first then read the books, I feel like doing that in school actually helped me understand things better!!
