Well yes but actually no, True they come from the most prestigious school but that doesn't mean they must always prioritize pride over survival. And they needed some form of entertainment to keep their sanity intact through this Apocalypse
Trust me, the more prestigious (and simultaneously the more expensive) the university, the bigger the assholes that graduate from it haha. It is no surprise to me at all that they wanna throw down

A tip when it comes to scouting: If you send your team to an already discovered location close to where you want to go, they move way faster. Send them onwards from there.

the mistake of any frostpunk player is not build a gathering post around those early resource deposit , a grave mistake
This, very much so. They just give you so much more efficiency and can effectively be torn down for what you paid to build them.

@@shawnsuggs7559 I'm absolutely agreeing with him. The early game gathering post is one of the most important buildings to create, and I'm hoping Pravus will see the comment, and was just adding that they increase both safety and efficiency at effectively no long-term cost.

After getting extended shifts and 3 workshops, the emergency shifts just seem unnecessary and a bit wasteful.
Especially since he is researching faster than he needs the tech/has anything to do with it.
Put a hot house next to a seed ark, you can then put a steam hub in radius 1 setting (if i remember correct) and still be able to heat it up (steam hub right in front middle of a ark, they kinda design a crescent spot so player can easily know where). a factory/2 research center can also be put in front of a ark on either side of the road and still within the steam hub aoe. Get Wall drill to take care of the wood need, you will get plenty of steam core so skip the manual working as much as possible cause its a waste of research time and resources (important later on). also also try to get to House Redesign before upgrading any housing, else consider the heat lvl upgrade. Try to get enough space for 600 steel+wood or 2000 ration at a time later on (can re-designate if you really low on stuff) if you wanna be a great person *wink wink*

P/S: first emergency shift is free of dead, the second one onward....
Ignore the sawmill and research the wall drill instead. It's better and you can have an Automaton work it day and night for wood.
Wall drills cost steam cores and even more steam cores to upgrade them to which I'd rather use to build more automatons.
Plus have you seen all the trees on this map? A tier 1 saw mill only costs wood while higher tiers cost a bit more wood and some steel.
If you do emergency shifts you almost ALWAYS get a death, except for the very first time, which is always death free. Also, if you dismantle the first automaton you get 2 steam cores, so you can actually build 2 of them later.

I have tried to watch people play this and it was just a snore, you my friend have a way of helping me personally understand the games and have a way of making it easy to immerse myself into your gameplay and to that I applaud!!!

So that's a lot of unnecessary research. Maybe time them for effect instead of flaying your workers. Faster gathering should have been first by order of what was actually used. Check Worker tag to check who's down or not. You can actually micromanage them but some refuse to.

Seeds would have been a good mechanic in the game in general, not just for this scenario, it would add to difficulty if every city also had to make sure their seed house/ark was kept up to temperature. Then if it goes out that just means you can only use hunter's hangers for food for the rest of the game and can't use hothouses.
Agreed, especially given much it strains credibility that hunting could still be a reliable source of food (especially after it starts getting colder). Unless you're living off the sea or hunting things that live off the sea, you're not finding game there, sorry.

Emergency shift is NEVER a good idea, especially not in a scenario where you have only 45 people to work with. And Coal thumper would just require too many automatons. Go with fully upgraded coal mines instead!
I agree coal thumpers are very inefficient on this scenario
I end up needing emergency shifts sometimes, and have won games where I used it several times (not this scenario). But I guess it is not optimal planning if I have to use it, thats still something I practise on
After 3 years and over 100h in the game, I realized that you can actually emergency shift on all the early resources, without anyone dying. Also the first use of it on a workshop also doesn't kill any engineers
due to the endgame requirement for thousands of coal, after already getting the best coal mine i added some coal thumpers and gathering posts. its fine, as youd need extra automatons to send to the colony anyways.
My God, I love Frostpunk, I've seen streams of it and always loved the moral dilemmas they throw your way. Some of the toughest choices I've seen made were leaving children behind to die to the storm because there was simply not enough room to house and feed everyone at the base.

The first time I played Arks was after running Endless Mode. I kept expecting the Storm to hit like 2 days after it was "spotted on the horizon". I was so stingy with my scouts, if I knew the storm wouldn't roll through it would have helped me so much.

heads up if you see this, one of your frostpunk series is not in your playlist section, which is disappointing because I almost missed this! i believe it's this series. if you see this, please fix! :)
Does the storm in this scenario hit on a specific day or is it random? If so what day? I read about the other requirement but can't find this exact information when it would be very useful. I was actually super close to winning today but lost when the storm hit.
For some reason the storm is not marked like in a new home scenario and yet you need to have a huge amount of coal at the exact moment the storm hits. Like I had 7000 something coal and well above the minimum food rations at the moment of losing, and just a little earlier actually had obove 8000 but couldnt continue.
I think the overall scenario is unfair (not merely difficult thats okay) for one, it doesnt let you actually play through the storm (would be okay if you were so poorly prepared you would be chanceless regardless), its illogical when you could have survived with automons. And two, it really should give a clear warning when the storm comes, especially when its this imporant

People in frozen wasteland complaining about a 14 hour work shift meanwhile people in Japan are like "Normal Workday".
Why you build gathering posts is people don't get sick. They use it to keep warm and of course less labor collecting these. If not, they are standing in the cold getting sick. at -4 you should never get anyone sick.

It always makes me sad to see developers release crappy DLC instead of just asking for money. Seriously, just ask for what you need. Gamers are wealthy patrons of the arts. Come on Pravus, you're taking advantage of exactly what I'm talking about. It works. And people are happy with it.

You mis-interpreted the research costs, everything below tech tier 1 is 10 wood, you were reading the actual cost of building it once unlocked, I really don't know why they put that information in the research screen except maybe to help you plan ahead?

Shit, fahrenheit :D I gotta learn this man, every time I watch a american gamer I have to face this. Is there a way to convert fahrenheit to celcius?
Alright I had to look up :D So here is simple trick for all the European fellas out there.
Substract -32 from Fahrenheit, divide it by 2 add %10 of it.
-4 - 32 = -36 -36 / 2 = -18 -18 + (-1,8) = 19,8 = ~-20
There is also much more easier but approximate way; simply subtract 30 from the temp and divide it by 2.
-4 - 30 = -34 -34 / 2 = 17 = ~-20
So here you go my dudes...
