The Head Lynx Tour / Velocity MLT hybrid suggested for this frame by my demo company was a good place to start. I do not like dead or muted feeling strings in this frame at all. I have also found that polys at low tension didn't work for me either. The ball either launched on flat shots or died on heavy spin shots. Thinking about buying the Gravity MP. Tested it with Luxilon Adrenalin and really liked it! But i also feelt some Elbow Pain after hitting with it for 2 Hours. Agree about RA not being the be all end all of comfort. I've used the VCore Pro HD for 2 years and honestly I think racquets can be too soft. It requires you to put in so much effort to get power that it ends up hurting your arm.
I currently use the Vcore Pro 100, but considering moving to the gravity MP (with some customization for stability) did you do a spec check on your demo. Quality control worries me with Head…
So I just bought the new Radical MP and although I kept it quite stock for now (just overgrip and dampner) I noticed that the serves were amazing! And the feeling was quite more plush, weird but addictive sensation. During rallies I felt that it was too light perhaps and a bit too easy to swing. Yes my 360+ radMPs are 10gs heavier...I will adjust the Aux with a bit of lead for my next play, although maybe not as much (the extra 10g felt quite tiring during long rallies and matches) maybe just a few grams at 3-9 and in the butt. But so far it felt darn good playing with it!
A few matches in and I am starting to hate it. The flex (aux tech) feels unpredictable at times and I have no real connection with the ball during slices and when going for top spin shots. Also in defence the ball really falls short, even when trying harder. Last but not least...I am suffering wrist issues. Going to tune the racket a bit more, a different set up, more head light...first Ill take a day off though.

I only hit with the Boom for a few minutes about 8 months ago so I can't help you too much. The Gravity MP has a really weird weight distribution with a recoil weight below 150, on average, which seems to work better for shorter players around 5 feet tall based on the data I've read on this racquet. I've spoken with some other content creators about this racquet and the consensus is that its very hard to time your shots due to the weight distribution. I think this is the reason I was hitting it late and hurting my wrist with it. So if you are shorter, its great and super comfortable. If you are taller, you might want to stick with the Boom or try the Extreme MP, a racquet I really enjoy.

Would the Gravity Tour be the solution to the weak points of the MP? Tighter string pattern, higher static weight, better stability while keeping some tolerance? Or is it clearly for advanced players only??
I think so, but we don't get that frame in North America. I also think the main issue was the 59 stiffness. I have not tried a racquet with that low of a stiffness that I actually like.
In play testing the two, the thicker beam of the tour and the tighter string pattern made the Tour much better IMO. And...the 305 weight was much better for me over the 315 of the pro which was just too much and harder to maneuver. Plus, if you want a bit more swing weight it's easy to add a bit of lead tape to the top of the Tour to give some extra plow through if needed.
As the specs of the 2022 Instinct MP lands somewhere between those two ( Gravity MP and Radical MP) it would be very nice with a good solid review on that one even if its "old" tech 360+ and now not part of the CPI tour list
You've commented about it a lot, so I feel obliged to give it to you straight. It is extremely unlikely that the Instinct ever gets any air time on this channel for multiple reasons. One, public interest. Without any sponsorships and the Instinct being relegated to a budget model, people don't care about it much and I expect viewership on Instinct content to be poor. Two, I have not liked any Instinct models in the past so my own personal interest in the frame is low at best.
Awesome review. Not sure if you have tried the head speed mp to give a view of where this sits against the two rackets in terms of power, control and launch angle
I've only tried the Pro, and I think the MP is the same stick in a lighter package with the 16x19 pattern. I would expect it to have the highest launch angle and offer similar instability to the Gravity MP. We found the Pro to play a bit "wobbly" and was ultimately unstable under pressure.
Reguarding what you call "racquet fatigue", I had quite the opposite feeling. I started with a Head Ti. Fire 30 years ago, and it served me well as an attack weapon. Heavy as hell (363 g strung) and stiff, 18/20 pattern, 98 sq in and original feel like racquets used to. In some terms it was quite like the way you described the Radical. But as time went by, my shots got worse, I missed more and more shots, until I restarted with a new racquet. 6 g lighter, more flexible, strung differently, but still kinda heavy, 98 sq in and 18/20. It felt like a reset to what I was capable to do. So there must be something in between. Staying with the same racquet for too long is obviously just as bad as changing every day. The marketing BS never caught me, but they keep telling us to have reinvented the wheel every year.
Yeah the graphite definitely does break down over time. I've noticed my 2.5 year old Extreme Tours, which have seen countless string jobs and some gentle abuse on court feel like they've lost a lot of their punch. My friend got a pair of new ones and they feel way more crisp and stable. BTW, Head racquet produce before like 2015 were measured differently than they are today. Your old 98 is closer to a "true 95" by the standards of every other company.
@@TennCom Well, they were not advertised as 98, I held a Blade 98 over it and saw the difference - none at all. It was not so much the softening, which I would have appreciated, they just felt dead. I fear my new "Gollum's Precious" might go dead as well one day, but they are still on their maiden strings. I switched to 16/19 btw, makes my racquets even more an attack weapon, because I can hit way harder due to more topspin. The ball will stay in, whereas my denser strung racquets required some holding back. Defense is still not my favourite position however. I am way too slow for that. So I play like Azarenka, just stand there and hit bombs.
I’m about to demo the Gravity MP because my elbow/forearm has been stressed, but I’m concerned when you mentioned experiencing ‘arm pain’ … I didn’t want to go down to a Clash, so I’m demoing the new MP with the Blade 100L, and Pure Strike Team Gen3. Would you recommend both MPs for versatility, or stick with 1 versus the other?! Thanks for the insightful review 🤙🏽
The arm pain I experienced was not due to the racquet's stiffness. There are two mains ways you can get arm pain. One, bad technique. Two, high vibration racquet/string setups. The Gravity is too light for me and ways causing me to mistime the ball, so my arm pain in this case was due to bad technique. I would not expect the Gravity MP to give anyone arm pain due to excessive vibration.
@@TennCom Appreciate the reply, was thinking of switching from head speed since it gives me more power than needed, I tried almost every single racket I was considering expect radical and I'm scared to switch still...
I am debating heavily between the Radical MP, Yonex Ezone 100, or Pure Aero 98, but i am not too sure about which one would be an overall better racquet. Spin, Power, and Control is something I look for the most, but what would you say is better?
hey Beckett, great insight on these sticks! did you tried the prince ats 98? if yes what are the differences between it and this latest radical mp ? what would be your recommendation for an intermediate "all court" play style between ats 98 and new radical mp?
Hi guys. I’m dealing with my shoulder injury also using blade 98 305 v7. It’s giving me pain after every game. I tried both I’m not sure should I continue with 300g radical or big shape more forgiveness gravity? I’m fan of 98 sq and have one handed backhand
Agreed on the Radical MP. Feels like it wants you to take balls early, then to come to the net for volleys. Loved the feel (and the sound) of Radical MP, but not enough to make me switch from my trusty blades v6 😅
Its so funny that you mention sound because I though it sounded super loud too, and when I was filming the B-roll I noticed that it has "Sound Grommets" hahahahaha
Funny you should say that, Tien. I play mostly with the Blade Pro for control and Blade v6 for power. I bought the Radical MP as an experiment but am selling and sticking with the Blades. The Radical isn't bad, and I did give it a fair shot by trying different string setups, but for me it's just not as good as the Blades. The odd thing is, I prefer the feel and sound of the Radical (and I love an old Radical XT MP in my bag), but I win a whole lot more points with the Blades because I don't make errors and I hit closer to the lines. The new Radical MP just does not promote consistency in my hands, for whatever reason.
Im in the middle of trying to switch from the extreme tour to the radical mp, which do you feel has the same power? Cause im finding i can hit passing shots and put away short balls much easier with the radical, in defense im also having an easier time blocking or looping a ball deep. Yet a slower swing speed generic baseline shot seems to have more power with the extreme tour it doesnt make any sense
Probably there is something about the weight distribution on the Extreme that's really helping you extend your arm and lean into the shot which is why you are hitting cleaner with the ET. I've found the Radical to be more fogiving and powerful, especially on off-centre balls, as you mentioned.
@TennCom hope you continue enjoying the radical mp. Leaded it up with a couple grams at 3 and 9 and like 0.5g at 12 and played my first match with it and had an absolute blast despite it being doubles rather than my much preferred singles. Its just so solid and stable, and encourages aggressive fast swings and creative shot variety in a way the ET for my game didnt. Definitely more powerful and better at redirecting pace than the ET for me aswell, the fact i can string looser whilst still maintaining control probably was a factor but the sweetspot is definitely bigger and the hoop more stable and solid.
Head gravity or head radical? I come from playing with a pure aero 2022… and I want more control with one of these two frames, which one would you recommend for an aggressive baseline player?
Nice intro! just imagine if brands would pay some youtubers to make "good rewiews", talking about how this "new" technologie makes the racquet better (while its only marketing)... But i guess that it would never happen 😄
But this is not the racket we can buy. It is some kind of a beta test stick. I think you should do another review with the actual release version of the Gravity MP. Would be interesting to compare against the Laver Cup Version.
My preference is Aux Rad MP >> 360+ Grav MP > Extreme MP > Aux Grav MP. I remember the 360+ feeling more crisp and connected with better control and spin. I frankly think this was a bad update. The Extreme is significantly more powerful than anything else here.
I've been playing with the Speed MP for a few months but I feel like it lacks stability sometimes even with added weight. Do you think the Radical MP would be an easy jump to adapt? Where I live I have access to the Gravity Tour version too. I'm one-handed backhand, btw
The Radical will have a lower launch angle, which you can compensate for by stringing roughly 15% looser. This will also give you more of the plushness that you get in the Speed which should make it a relatively easy transition. Stability will be better with the Radical IMO.
@@TennCom Thanks for taking the time to answer, I appreciate it! If you don't mind answering one more ^^, between the 2, which one feels more head light when swinging?
Ciao, Beckett… another high quality video and analysis… also one that is very relevant for me. I’ve been testing the Shift 300 and the VCore 100.. ( The gravity mp and Shift 300 have close specs) Well, the VCore just doesn’t feel right to me, maybe a bit head heavy???I will keep the Shift, for now, and send the VCore back… The gravity mp and Radical mp are both on my list…Not sure which one I should try first… What are your thoughts? Best, John
I'm not super sure that you will like the Radical. It require a lot of swing speed to get anything out of it. The Gravity was a lot easier to use, but its got a pretty Head heavy balance too. I put a Head leather grip on mine and it still felt a little clunky. I think the previous version is better in case you've tried it.
Hi Becket, do you think that the new Gravity MP needs a bit of customization to be a better racket? I have the 2021 version and sometimes i feel that maybe a few grams more could help me responding some fast pace or heavy shots. I used the Radical 2021 before the Gravity and i felt that i doesnt need that help from the racket (i have to change because of pain on my elbow :( , and i really like the feel and softness of the gravity) Greetings from Chile!
Yeah, I put on a leather grip to increase the tail weight and this helped a lot. I don't think it will help with the flexiness issue, as you would have to add so much weight that the Gravity Pro becomes the better choice. I think the original Gravity was compared so heavily to the Clash (even though it played much better for advanced players) that Head decided that was the best direction for them to go with the Auxetic version. I don't disagree with the decision from a sales standpoint, but for my own game, I with they increased the stiffness instead of reducing it.
Yeah I threw on a leather grip to add some tail weight, which helped, but I'm 100% convinced its from hitting the ball late. Light racquets make me lazy lol.
Yeah if you talk about stock you're right, but the gravity mp had great customization potential. You can get it to gravity pro level with a more open string pattern.
@@TennCom yeah understand what you're saying. A 100 inch ² string bed is already more forgiving and more trampoline. If you like very crisp rackets the flex should be at least at 64 with a 100. I personally prefer my flex to be in the range of 59 to 64. Rackets in medium or even high flex get muddy because of the aggressive dampening. Then i prefer less dampening in combination with a lower flex.
Hi guys. Please give us an Prince Phantom 100 review!!!! I think about the 100 P or the 100x 305g or the 320g. I testet bouth series the Gravity Pro and the Prince 100 series. And I think that these two differnt but very equal series are the most special on market right now! The feel is unmatched on bouth in the market. Review would be so great because Prince is a realy competetore to the Gravity!! Great Job, go on like that!!👍👍
I probably won't revisit these until they are updated. I think the Phantoms are fun to play with, but I struggle to see a use-case for them when it comes to competitive play.
Auxetic version of head racquets feels empty to me. I have played tennis for 8-9 years, and i unconsciously have a habit of 'listening' to racquet feedback after each hit to better my next hits. I have an auxetic speed mp, and i can never hit consistently. it gives no feedback, like you don't know which part of the racquet you just hit the ball with. No likey :(
The Radicals are definitely the least Auxetic racquets in Heads lineup. They are very loud on court and vibrate more than anything I've tried except for the Diadem Elevates. If you like a slightly higher pitch for sound, the Radical might actually work well for you.
Head is lying about their stiffness. Paid TW for a matching service for 6 Head Speed MP Auxetic and 5 Extreme Tour Auxetic. Poor quality control my ass. For ET 2 had 71 RA 2 had 70 RA 1 had 69 RA SMP 1 had 63 RA 2 had 64 RA 2 had 65 RA 1 had 67 RA
Way to come with the data, @jpwjpwjpw. Interesting that the SMPs are so much closer to their 62 RA spec than the ETs (63 RA). But ya gotta give Head one thing (which I too have gathered). When the specs are off-spec, at least they're consistent about it.🙃
I wonder if Head is doing silent updates mid cycle. Like initial measurements will be off the first few batches, which will also go to reviews. So if people complain about something related to stiffness, they could easily update the layup to fix the problems
@@TennCom yes I agree. Bet they do. And not only Head. Wilson too. As TW updates their specs as well. They could listen more to the public a la Yonex. More quality control
@@TennCom Could you possibly test a frame released since the standard Gravity MP Auxetic painted version was released... just to verify whether maybe the lay-up was tweaked as companies are said to do sometimes after intro of prototypes? Thanks... I'm enjoying hitting the Gravity MP 360+, Speed MP Auxetic, and Prestige MP-L Auxetic head-to-head now and trying to settle on a winner. So far I'm probably playing enjoying the previous Gravity MP best, just looking for a set-up that offers the best pop. The Auxetic in both the Speed Pro and MP was definitely an upgrade vs 360+ IMO.

I've only tried the Pro, and I think the MP is the same stick in a lighter package with the 16x19 pattern. I would expect it to have the highest launch angle and offer similar instability to the Gravity MP. We found the Pro to play a bit "wobbly" and was ultimately unstable under pressure.
what strings and tension do you recommend on radical?
This was a great video, I demo'd both and got the radical. thanks for these vids my guy!
thanks for watching hommie!
Tried the Gravity MP for a week and ended up with a sprained wrist. Didn't have those issues with the Tour
I’m looking to change it up, Do you have a recommendation for string set up for Radical MP?
my fav with the Rad was Grapplesnake Alpha
maybe review the Instinct 2022?
Prokennex ki5 295 ? 100 16x20 but string pattern is tight in the middle!
Hello nice video, do you prefer Gravity 290 or Prince Phantom 100x 290gr? Thanks
I only tried the Phantom in the 305 and it was soo long ago I completely forget how it was
i currenlty quite like the ezone 98, should i have a go at the radical
How controlled is Radical MP actually, does it have more control than SPEED pro for example?
yes I think it definitely does
@@TennCom Appreciate the reply, was thinking of switching from head speed since it gives me more power than needed, I tried almost every single racket I was considering expect radical and I'm scared to switch still...
For example blade 98 v9 18x20 on paper should have way more control than speed pro, but I find blade to be so unpredictable and "springy"
How do these compare to boom line
I am debating heavily between the Radical MP, Yonex Ezone 100, or Pure Aero 98, but i am not too sure about which one would be an overall better racquet. Spin, Power, and Control is something I look for the most, but what would you say is better?
Pure Aero 98
Beckett, on the Gravity MP, was the weight distribution too much towards the throat/lower hoop?
Yeah. You can feel almost all of the weight is above the grip
hey Beckett, great insight on these sticks! did you tried the prince ats 98? if yes what are the differences between it and this latest radical mp ?
what would be your recommendation for an intermediate "all court" play style between ats 98 and new radical mp?
I haven't tried any of the new Princes sadly.
I was also having a tough time getting my forehand timing right, I'm glad it's not just me
I'm sending it back to you with a nice leather grip to look sexy on the wall
Beckett: Radical mp or VCore 98? Which one are you going with? I sent the VCore100 back… might try the 98… Ciao, John
I haven’t decided yet. Gotta get through my pile of review racquets before I can take the time to commit
Hi guys. I’m dealing with my shoulder injury also using blade 98 305 v7. It’s giving me pain after every game. I tried both I’m not sure should I continue with 300g radical or big shape more forgiveness gravity? I’m fan of 98 sq and have one handed backhand
I would recommend rest first but if you have to play I'd imagine the Gravity would be easier on the body for most people
Agreed on the Radical MP.
Oh and also like 10g putty under the butt cap so mimick my ET balance
we need video on how you hit those majestic tweeners
"How to hit 10% of your tweeners in 100% of the time"
Classic intro and great vid. Nice work!
Head gravity or head radical? I come from playing with a pure aero 2022… and I want more control with one of these two frames, which one would you recommend for an aggressive baseline player?
Radical MP all the way
Nice intro! just imagine if brands would pay some youtubers to make "good rewiews", talking about how this "new" technologie makes the racquet better (while its only marketing)... But i guess that it would never happen 😄
But this is not the racket we can buy. It is some kind of a beta test stick. I think you should do another review with the actual release version of the Gravity MP. Would be interesting to compare against the Laver Cup Version.
Nice review as always....How would you compare this one with new extreme mp and gravity mp 360+ version? which one would you prefer?
My preference is Aux Rad MP >> 360+ Grav MP > Extreme MP > Aux Grav MP. I remember the 360+ feeling more crisp and connected with better control and spin. I frankly think this was a bad update. The Extreme is significantly more powerful than anything else here.
Thank you!!
@@k3suk3 I think probably the Radical, but that could definitely vary depending on QC
@@TennCom that's great! I currently live in Japan and I think I might be able to look for one that's on spec. Again, thanks a lot!
Always!
@@TennCom Maybe I’ll stay with the Shift 300… Thanks, Beckett
I just cannot play with wider heads, Radical MP share is great and I don't need anything over 98
Amazing!!
Nice vidéo. I would be really interested to know where you place the vcore pro 100 (I play with the green version) between these two ? 😊
i dont have enough recent hitting experience with any of he VCP 100s to say anything useful
@@TennCom too Bad cause it has, for me, the benefit of both worlds.
re: arm pain, I think this probably the lightness of the Gravity MP. 295 grams is pretty light for a player with an aggressive swing.
Yeah I threw on a leather grip to add some tail weight, which helped, but I'm 100% convinced its from hitting the ball late. Light racquets make me lazy lol.
Furi arma pro 98 and 101 review please 🙏
Damn you are persistent hahaaha
Yeah if you talk about stock you're right, but the gravity mp had great customization potential. You can get it to gravity pro level with a more open string pattern.
I think 59RA is too low for a lot of players. In a 95sqin to get extra precision, maybe, but the 100 feels so vague with that low of a flex.
Is the Wilson Shift 300 also yet on the waiting list?
In progress, targeted release next Monday
I love it how non-pros blame consistency on the racket lol.. Nice review though.
Crazy how pros don’t use the same racquets we do so there really is no way to tell is there?
Gravity rules!⚡️💣🎯
power means control and that is a good feel
The least Head Auxetic racquet are the Prestige
Head is lying about their stiffness. Paid TW for a matching service for 6 Head Speed MP Auxetic and 5 Extreme Tour Auxetic. Poor quality control my ass.
For ET
2 had 71 RA
2 had 70 RA
1 had 69 RA
SMP
1 had 63 RA
2 had 64 RA
2 had 65 RA
1 had 67 RA
wow ET at 71 RA actually sounds like a good racquet for me hahahaha
@@TennCom thats the one I choose :)
More quality control
wait this isnt the new gravity line?
The Laver Cup Gravity's were an early release of the Auxetic layup
Hahaha great vid!
got to one minute.... sorry, have to leave!
