Thought the Spongecola Puso song was the goosebumps part but no. I never thought I'd feel something close to being teary-eyed when I heard the guitar solo in the cheerdance competition (yes, very late youtube viewing..) It's like hearing a very familiar old song that evoked a lot of deep-seated principles. I'm so proud of UP kasi sila lang yung continuously innovative at original. Akala ko wala na silang maipapakitang bago pero this performance proved me wrong.

i don't know if this performance deserves more recognition in terms of technique and so on. but I can definitely feel the emotion coming out of the screen. sobrang obvious ng effort! Galing, super! First time watching UAAP CDC since it's been all over my newsfeed and tl, but was alrdy impressed by this squad. Na-inspire akong magcheerdance dun ah hahaha (and watch them live) although that's very impossible for me because I have fear of heights and I suck at dancing lol~ But really UP Pep Squad, this year's perf IS amazing and perfect! Guess I'll be watching/waiting for the next UAAP CDCs starting from now on~

Came back here matapos kong manood ng cdc nitong season 85 and I have to say, nakakamiss makanood ng ganitong klaseng routine. Yung nakakapanindig balahibo at yung naluluha ka nalang sa huli dahil sa ganda. Sobrang legendary ng piece na to ng UP Pep. Sana maibalik nila sa mga susunod na season ang ganitong klaseng impact ng performance.
Totoo!!! Grabe no??? I'm from FEU pero I've been always rooting for UP Pep ever since! Kasi aside sa FEU, yung UP talaga they always give us something very different. something unexpected. every year. just like FEU. And eto so far pinaka fave kong routine ng UP sobrang umiiyak ako habang pinapanood ko to lalo na yung last part. Maganda yung sa NU, sure! they always gives us difficult routine and stunts. Pero iba talaga yung may impact sa audience kahit sobrang easy and simple lang nung routine or choreo. Yung habang lalo mong pinapanood, lalo kang natutuwa. Hindi nakakasawang panoorin. I'm not against NU, in fact, fave ko yung perf nila nung 2019. Yun pinaka bet kong perf nila sa lahat ng perf nila since 2010. But UP touched my heart with this performance during that time. and until now, iniisip ko parin bakit hindi nag champion UP dito :( Nakakaiyak!! I hope next year bumawi na din yung UP. kasi yung ADU and UE, bumabawi na din. Hopefully, yung DLSU and ADMU may pa surprise next year. Mas maganda yung malilito tayong lahat kung sino ba ang dapat maging champion kasi lahat sobrang gagaling at magaganda ang performance and para naman sobrang maging worth it yung pagbili namin ng ticket sa scalpers diba HUHUHU Anyway, Looking forward for next year. Ipilit niyong ibalik ang nakaraan para hindi kayo matuto ng scoring system ng present CDC at para lagi kayong ligwak sa podium.
@@jleviste Hindi sila nag champion because they arent as good as NU, they arent even behind them that year. UP has an impact perhaps sa UP audience, not all schools. Last Dec, almost ahat ng schools sa Live audience nagche-cheer for NU. UPs peformance was rather boring, dated and simple. Hence, no impact. And difficulties takes a lot on the score sheet sa new rules. Wag nyo na ipilit, natalo sila kaso hindi sila deserving that year, without NU, UST will take the championship, not UP. So, if gusto nila makapodium, they need to step up their game, a lot. Andyan pa ang FEU UST ADAMSON AT UE behind NU ngayon. UP was at 6th place. Also ADMU nagimprove na din. This was the year na tueang tuwa ang mga taga UP habang nagbabagsakan ang mga taga NU, so karma just did its work pefectly. Deserved. In fact, may karma man or wala, pano mananalo ang peformance na lumang luma na.

Alam ko rin na NU talaga ang deserving for the championship this year. Alam naman natin yun. Wala naman ding masama na i cheer din yung ibang schools like UP, ADMU and DLSU na nasa bottom for consecutive years. sino bang ayaw ng mas magandang laban? Mas maganda yung lahat sila magagaling to the point na hindi natin mahuhulaan kung sino yung gugustuhin ng judges. Ang boring kasi pag palaging expected na yung outcome though entertaining naman talaga yung pinapakita ng NU, UP, UST and AdU. Pero mas maganda parin kung lahat sila sobrang magaganda ang ipapakita moving forward. Also, as an FEU Alumni, iba kasi yung pinakitang sportsmanship ng UP ever since. Specially sa FEU and other schools. Even sa NU din. Baka yung ibang toxic supporters yung sinasabi mo na tuwang tuwa kapag may laglag yung NU. Pero as someone who knows a lot from UP, hindi sila ganon. They are always supportive kahit sa ibang schools. So, Ang point ko, sana this year, lahat sila maging magaling para mas lalong maging worth it yung panonood ng live walang maging dull moments. :)

Kitang kita sa camera, sa video on how a UP student, perhaps an alumni na nung nagbabagksakan ang pyramids ng NU even sa stunts, tuwang tuwa sya at pinapa join nya pa na icheer yun ng school nya, and a guy as well same thing. May pa pag pa sigh pa sya na deads na. Don ako sobrang nadisappoint sa UP. Kahit yung pagbibintang nila na sinira ng NU yung flag, when in fact, it wasnt NU, twas a different school pala, na kakampi ng UP noon. Pinagtulunga din ang Nu Noon back in 2017 nung hindi sila nakapodium. Pero tahimik sila, they endured the pain of losing, and came back strong. At yon ang toong sports at may integridad. Hindi yung maybiboycott ka at di aattend, worse, questionin mo ang judges back in 2015. Nakakalungkot kasi I used to be a UP fan, also UST. Pero nung 2015 don ako nawalan ng gana sa kanila. Kasi hindi yon ang alam kong UP noon. Nilagay kasi nila sa ulo nila yung championship na yan. Sa totoo lang, mas bet ko pa ang UE at ADU at even ADMU na magpodium kesa sa UP. Hindi ako against sa school, sa ginawa nila ako against at disappointed. I mean they couldve done better sana that time, at yon ay ang wag umasa sa pagbagsak ng iba, para umangat sila. Sana makita ko silang iba na sa mga susunod na taon. Peace po.

Pinanood ko na ito ng maraming beses. Pati yung ibang performances ay akin ring pinanood. Hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi UP ang nanalo. Kalakhan ng mga tao mula sa iba't ibang unibersidad na kalahok sa kompetisyon ay naniniwala rin na UP ang dapat na itinanghal na nagwagi. Marahil nagpower nap ang mga hurado nang nagperfom ang UP. Itong taon nga na ito ang isa sa mga pinakamadaling husgahan na cheerdance competition sapagkat kitang-kita naman kung sino ang panalo at dito pa nagkamali ang mga hurado. Mga hangal.

Almost cried during the UP naming Mahal part and had goosebumps at "ang puso Ialay" part but went totally gaga at the last part (how they soared and transitioned to form that "puso"). twas a truly moving routine...loved to be a FIlipino just watching this. COngrats UP! To us, you have won the Gold!

It just so sad that this squad will not compete this year's UAAP CDC. With the amazing & heartwarming performance they showed last/every year this UP Pep Squad will surely be missed. Btw, I'm not a student from UP but I am one of those fans who love cheerdance because of them.
nakakagoose bumps lahat ng finale ng UP PEP Squad. Pinapanood ko talaga past performances nila pag CDC season. It is not worth watching pag wala ang UP pep squad sa cdc. Hindi nila kailangan ng props para sa performances nila. yung baon nilang stunts and theme or advocacy sapat na para makuha ang atensyon ng tao. I believe na sila ang pinakaaabangan ng mga audience every year.

CRITICIZING UP Pep Squad's performance.
HINDI AKO BITTER OCAMPO... kahit fan ako ng UP Pep Squad.
Hindi din ako taga-UP at ito ang take ko. Honestly, I expected too much when their coach and captain said that they leveled up their game this year. But the only ones that improved were the stunts and pyramids. Someone has to call out to UP that they need to improve on their tosses, tumblings, and according to the latest scores, their DANCE. Yes, their dance - an element wherein they are really good at.
Let's start with the TOSSES.
2011 when we first saw a flier performed 2 skills in mid-air in UAAP CDC. It was from FEU. The flier did and x-out, accompanied by 2 twists in the descend. The following years, all the rest of the teams showcased tosses with 2 skills. While watching UP's performance today, I couldn't help but say WTF is wrong with them! They still stick to the usual double twist, single twist, kick double-down and x-out Tosses! Napag-iwanan na sila! (Although kick double and double twists are difficult to execute themselves.) The height is definitely there and the flyers looked comfortable so why not add at least a single twist there. I think it's called a Level 6 toss? Correct me if I'm wrong. So UP's only doing Level 5, and why they chose to remain at this level is definitely a puzzle. THEY'RE LONG OVERDUE FOR A LEVEL 6 TOSS!
For the TUMBLINGS...
I'm scratching my head if UP got the right amount of credit for all the tumblings they did. I don't think anyone can replicate UP's 2 consecutive jump split, immediately connected to a back tuck/handspring. And also, I saw 5 individuals who did full twisting layouts (2:14). For the individual tumblings, although difficulty wasn't high, they were surely executed brilliantly. The height, the proper form, and the stable landing were all present. Not sure how NCC does the evaluation but if Gymnastics principles apply, then they should get a higher score for Execution. Or at least not no. 5 in the ranking of the score sheet.. This has to be contested, if still possible.
BUT, I do like to point out that this has always been the same Tumbling skill of UP for a very long time. Ever have plans to increase difficulty? What about doing a standing full twisting back tuck? Maybe around half of the group if not all? Or a synchronized full twisting layout for the entire team's running tumbling? Individual tumbling also counts right? Anyone in the team can insert an arabian layout in the middle of a running tumbling pass? What about a whip to backhandspring to layout? And oh, has anyone seen the stepout with a full twist layout from other teams? Anyone from UP can replicate that? Hate to say this, but UP is already lagging behind.
And finally the DANCE...
Assuming last year's criteria applies to this year, then here are the improvement points I think they lacked:
- Musicality: I'm not sure exactly how this is defined in the criteria, but I'm guessing it's how well is the dance synchronized with the music. Watching NU and UST's performance who got higher scores, there is a dance move for significant beats, or the dance feel adjusts to the music feel. Not that UP didn't do this, but they have to be more significant and consistent if this is what the criteria is looking for.
- Formation: they need to improve on how the lines and the formation group/s adjusts from one phase to another, or maybe the lack of it. Watching international teams, most likely the judges usually look for liquid smooth transitions of groups on the floor, whether accompanied by difficult movements or not. Maybe UP's dance sequence at the 2:22 part could've been accompanied by locomotor movements around the mat in groups, instead of all of them doing uniform movements?
And to critic their dance I thought it was a bit disappointing. I've watched previous years of UP's routines and some pieces performed in their Dance concert, and that Captain's Dance I so love. After watching this, I immediately thought that this isn't the dance UP usually do. I can still remember the goosebumps when UP did the "Who Run the World" sequence from their 2014 performance. And the packed movements from the early 2000s. They probably took note that the dance criteria has more emphasis on clarity of movement than difficulty. But sadly it got to this. UP is definitely better than the Dance they showed. More training and the right training perhaps? Maybe it's just a matter of a more accurate interpretation of the criteria, in the part of their dance choreographer(s)? P.S. Those fouettes were dirty if you're going to watch amateur videos.
In general, I thought UP focused too much on the Pyramid and Stunts, they lacked time to work on the other components. That's all. I hope my analysis is correct and gets to UP Pep Squad.
And guys, please stop bashing NU for winning. They deserved it. Although they didn't perfect one of their pyramids, that's just 1/8 of the entire score. The Dance, Stunts, Tosses and Tumblings are sky rocket high excellent. I don't know about you, but I still thought that with the deduction of the falls, they still had a huge shot of winning. When UST was announced 2nd Place, I was sure NU owned the championship. And I was happy for them. I remember feeling bad for them when the entire arena (less the NU crowd) celebrated their fall. Amateur videos showed that the UST and UP crowd were up in their feet jumping for joy.
What's contestable are the numbers placed in the sheet per component, which I'd like to discuss next.
- Where did ADU's 28 point deduction come from? And were they given credit for the other elements? How did they fall to the 7th place despite those clean and difficult performance? Was it because of the huge props?
- How the hell did FEU get to 4th place?
- And although I asked people to stop bashing NU for winning, I'm one with many who'd like to inquire if NU only deserved 6 point deduction. I'm not siding in any team, but I'd like to seek transparency in the scoring process. I counted 2 falls on the pyramid and 1 fall on the group stunts of NU.
- And UP had no deductions? Really? Those wobbles in the partner stunts and the inaccurate placing of the top flyer to 1-1-1 stunt weren't given penalties?
- Why is there a huge disparity between UP and UST's scores? How is the dancing really judged? And also, in terms of Stunts and Pyramids, UP only scored 2 or 3 points higher than UST? I thought the disparity should be bigger. I always use UP's 2013 Party Routine as the benchmark for stunts and pyramid difficulty. (even it had a lot of deductions). And I don't think UST's 2015 is greater than that. But the scores right now are so near! Where did that come from?
I believe NCC needs more transparency with their scoring like the Gymnastics Code of Points. I understand that Cheerleading and Gymnastics are different sports, but at least they have to be analogous. Gymnastics CoP has a table for penalties and deductions, including the errors to be incurred and the corresponding points to be deducted. It's as specific as that. They also have a part that assesses the Difficulty of the skills performed and the corresponding points. Which is why at the end of every competition, most of the audience understands if their bet didn't place well. That score sheet UAAP released to the media is very topline. Again, there needs to be more transparency. It's frustrating in the part of the audience not knowing how those scores are arrived.

Andun yung angas, pasabog at puso ng UP Pep Squad sa mga performances nila pero somehow it feels the same every year. I hope makita nila ang point nang analysis mo. ^____^
finally, i could not agree with you more. UP really needs to step up there game. Great improvement on the pyramids and stunts department. Now, we need to improve on our tumblings, tosses and Dance

On that last note, I think UP did make improvements naman, sa Stunts and Pyramids nga lang. Kulang pa sa Toss and Tumblings. Pero di mo din sila masisisi. Looking at NU's improvement from 2011 up to present, wherein the skill level rise is mammoth, it's because they're members are Gymnasts (or at least 80% accdg to an interview account). Gymnasts' mind and body are trained to respond in cues that are as small as a fraction of a second. It can be learned pero depende din sa Gymnastics training ng teams. It's a huge shot para mahabol yun ng UP and other teams but it doesn't mean they should stop trying.

well, what more can I say. They really deserved the top spot, I was just surprised hearing them only as the 2nd runner up. I was just like, "what ? are you kidding me?" Then my brother just laughed. You know, given that NU had numerous difficult stunts with numerous falls and errors but not on UP who's high level of difficult stunts seemed like easy because those were perfectly executed. I was stunned yet disappointed with the result. I would like to know judges POV with netizens reaction of the game. I am nothing against NU Pep, but with the result, I am a big fan of them anyway eversince they made a big blow to ICU 2015, however seeing UPs perf was a big difference. Anyway, I am a Thai loving PH's Cheering Program - this is just my personal opinion. Sorry for my grammar. Congratulations UP Pep :)

First of all top Spot? NU presented 4 pyramids though nag collapse yung first, while UP have shaky mounting on the 2nd pyramid muntik pa di maitawid, UP have more wobbles as well and the couping part was simple no impact.
@@keithmounirmanjoorsa4997 wobbles deducted as .5 and Falls especially flyers touching the floor is major deduction. Nanggugulo kapa dito sa video 4 years ago tapos kasama ka rin naman sa mga nagsasabi ng "dI mAka mOvE oN" habang kayo parin nag bibring up ng issue
What I like about UP's performances is they think outside of the box, heartfelt yung performance, at always may mensahe and that message always leaves an imprint sa heart and it inspires you. I dunno what it is but all their performances really moves the Filipino in me. Am I the only one??? #GOUP
