Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany

As We Gather:
There are blessings - and, there are blessings! The world around us would measure them in terms of dollar signs, titles, prestigious addresses, and record books. But God measures them in ways that at first seem strange, and even contradictory to the values that surround us. Yes, God says we are blessed when our complete trust is in Him, or when we are poor, hungry, sorrowing, and persecuted - strange rewards, indeed, for those whom He calls “disciples.” But these are the disciple’s reward … or, this: a Savior who says to His baptized and believing people, “Blessed are you.” What greater reward can there be? What greater joy than this?
