Hi Blake, thank you sooooo much for teaching me tricks, i bought my first dirt jumper (NS Decade) in January and i learned soooo much from you! You inspire me!!!!!!
First, learn how to endo. Then learn how to endo turn. Then learn how to carve the endo, until your doing an endo 180. Once you can do that, learn how to bunny hop to endo. Start hopping into the endo turns, make the hops bigger every time. Eventually, you won’t have to spin on your front tire anymore, and will be doing 180s.
cool tutorial ;-). Interesting to see you actually are doing an opposite 180. I put my left feet up front but also like to turn to the right. But indeed the best way is just by finding out. As a bonus i think it's easier to learn on a bank or in a wide quarter/halfpipe because you can start out doing arond 45 degree jumps and build from there.
#askgmbn 1:05" why do Blake always grab the right grip over the inside edge? it help to not slip when doing tricks? it makes the bar narrow on rotational maneuvers?
I know no-one who has ever suffered a head injury or any major injury on a bicycle. I myself have never worn a helmet and have been cycling for 8 years now. Just be more aware of whats around you and you shouldn't need a helmet. Although obviously at a bike park or somewhere with large jumps I would probably wear one.
I have only ever managed this once and it was completely by mistake! I also managed to land it upside down in a field, on the roof of my car. My insurance went up a bit too but my wife wasn't hurt and I got a new car out of it.
That looks like a Brititsh bunny hop, where you lift both wheels at the same time, yet in the video you explain the (proper) American bunny hop, where you're using the manual motion to lift your front wheel in the air, and then continue by standing up on your bike to lift the back wheel. I'm only seeing the former being used for the 180 trick in this video.
Blake does an english bunnyhop 180, that won't work off any form of drop, or onto anything higher than 30cm. You really should be doing an american bunnyhop 180, they work much better, and more importantly look better.
good job Blake. I thinking we want more street MTB can u show us how to read a line both in a street and on a skate park. I speak tor the rookies such as myself she that by giving us a visual you can gibe us a better idea of what feature's in both environment should we utilize in case
Leo Froehlich Good question, I learned with a simple hop, Blake is also doing it from a hop but I heard that a bunny hop allows you to spin more easily but when I try that it just throws me completely off balance :/ But I've seen many people doing it and it looks so easy
same for me, i can do it with a simple hop but somehow i find it super hard to initiate the spin in a bunny hop... i think it´s still worth practicing though if you want to progress to a 360 because a simple hop won´t give you enough air time to get you all the way around
you should have explained in which direction you turn depending on your foot positioning. because it does matter. if you are right foot forward you turn to the left. that way you get maximum leverage to easily turn the rear end of the bike around.
How difficult is it switching from a hardtail to a full suspension? I'm asking because I'll travel half way around the world to Whistler with my friend next summer and wanna know if I should rent a full suspension earlier to get used to it :)
Mr. Turtle Power A little, I went from a hard tail to a 140 all around full sus bike. If you are going to a bike park make sure you adjust the rear shock or coil accordingly or else the rear will fly in the air off jumps as I found out the hard way. Also it may have pedal bob so if you feel like you are less efficient check for a lockout. Hope this helps.
Mr. Turtle Power I recently switched from a hardtail to a 120 mm full suspension, and it definitely takes a little bit of getting used to, but it's a lot smoother and more fun in my opinion but I'd probably rent or borrow one just to see how you like it.
Just start with the easy runs and it'll be second nature by lunch. Make sure suspension is set up proper so it's not bottoming out and not bucking you off like a wild bull
what should I do if my coilover suspension fork is very squishy and it has very little travel. I am bottoming out the fork while standing still. pls help!
OneSpokeMissing Same thing. Just squeeze rear wheel with elephant poop and then let dry for about 5 20 Animal seconds. Like 30 min c. Good luk mannnn👌🏻💯💯
can I do this with my cross country wheels? It took me 5 weeks to destroy the ztr crest mk3 I now got this ztr arch mk3. afraid I will destroy another wheelset
Callum Thornley I can 180 my full suspension and im only 100 pounds about 45 kg and my bike is a XL bike but it took me like 8 months to learn practicing every day. its just technique and practice.
Hi, I have a bike and I'm trying to 180 on it. Is it okay if I try and use my pegs to 180? I can bunnyhop pretty high using my pegs and I am trying to 180 using my pegs. Please reply I do not know whether to just use my pegs or my pedals to 180 and bunny hop. Also I'm trying to learn it on the grass because I am afraid that I am going to hurt my self if i fall and I only have a gravel drive way and a tiny concrete porch.
Hey GMBN I recently crashed my bike really bad and lucky came away with only a fractured hand, but my bars are bent should I get new ones or will they be fine?
Too busy, I only go in summer cause I can use left over days from my winter pass. If you're wanting better bang for buck (quid) go to Silver Star, Sun Peaks, or Kicking Horse (rated 1,2,3 in my books). They may not be as big but you spend less time in lines and more time riding
Try this First, learn how to endo.

I'm worried my bike is going to break attempting it too much. I have a carbon full suspension mountain bike and I practiced a bit and only do half a rotation. Landing like that doesn't sound good on the back wheel. How can I correct it?
sometimes the wheel do not land well and ive broken two rear derailleurs which got stuck in stuck in between so my question how to land with your wheel dead straight and not crooked??
I am struggling when fakeing out of the 180. I find it hard to keep the balance and always seem to fall the the inner side of the turn that I then want to turn. Any tips?
this is not me Find a bank or something where you can roll up and go down backwards. You are not gonna go out and say i wanna learn fakies today. It's going to take some time.
this is not me Put more pressure on the pedals while pedaling backwards, don't think of it as slowing down but rather it gives me more balance? I tried and it works for me, but I can't get past the fakie part because my chain keeps falling off.
THAT is one of the problems that i have with 180 sometimes. The balance and not going fakie. You have to put your bodyweight to the side you are turning and at the same time tilt your head to the side you are turning that helps with balance and try overrotating by pushing your bike foward faster or going a litte bit faster or both. that is what i do to land it
I'm am tore between a bmx or a dirt jump bike. The dirt jumper is better at one thing and the bmx at another but they can both do both things. Also a bmx is cheaper. Any help please.
Hey Blake, do you spin opposite naturally or were you doing it for fun? Also, if my bike weighs 45 lbs, (no joke), should I still be able to pop a 180 around flat? I've gotten almost all the wat around, I just can't stick it.

@@noah_m bunny hop and land in an endo
bro its even harder than just go straight into 180 🤣
Is nice to see that they are doing more dirt/street mtb videos. Good work GMBN!!!
Nice tutorial. I actually never did a 180. But I think, I'll continue trying with your advices.
Blake is just the best he adds even more humor to everything
0:30 wow blake so sassy 😂
what do you do afterwards I'm getting bored of riding everywhere backwards! 😂 ps love these videos
Bar Spin please! You are the best!!!!
Nice video Blake..alas, I'm much to old and strapped with old injuries to even give it a go..Cheers
so much help in these vids! keep up the good work👍🏼
Can you do a video about how to do the bar spin?
Blake is sending it!!!
Guys great video! I wil enjoy it!!! May go outside in a few days and try this if my injuries have subsided!!!
I may go outside and get some injuries while trying it!! xD
Ahh you need to show how to half cab out, that's the bit that always gets me!
It really helped me a lot, could you mayby do a Video (if you can do it), where you Show how to do a 180 in a halfpipe? That would help me a lot

You've actually missed something that you need to learn 180. You need a flat surface, a bike, your bike skills and a HELMET! Don't be a donut 😝
Philipp Bentsianov I thought at same exact thing when he said that 😆😆
helmet comes part and parcel of riding.
if I'm touching the pedals my pot is on!

I can’t fully turn around I can only do like 120.
How many wheels have you folded doing 180's n 360's?
Is it better to do a really bunny Hop or is a simple Hop enough?

My bike has a heavy frame and I can't bunnyhop very high what do I do?
If I try to 180 of a wall or curb I always catch my front wheel. Any tips?
It's there any there has a tip on how to easy find a bikes mech hanger.
Sebastian David Alstrup Look at the mech. follow it up and you will see where it attaches to the frame. not all bikes have a 'breakaway' hanger.
mouseamilion What it's a breakaway hanger? and thank you for your response.
Sebastian David Alstrup A breakaway is a little piece that attaches to the mech and the bike. so if you have a crash/drop the bike, then the hanger breaks, leaving your mech intact (in theory), so you only have to replace a hanger that only costs a couple of £, rather than your expensive mech.
No problem! glad to help.
I have heard that it's hard to find your bikes breakaway hanger have you any tips on how to find one specific to you bike? :)
