Hornet larvae are a delicacy. They're cultivating nests to harvest the larvae. To be quite honest, giant hornets aren't really TOO much of an issue in japan. They can be a nuissance, and can decimate European honey bees, but they've co existed with native Japanese flora and fauna for centuries. It's really the media thats given them the bad rap. Yes they're stupid aggressive, and an apex predator, but also beneficial to the eco system.
