Great video. The reason it’s so big is because this design is over 10 years old from the Clay Paky Sharpy. Other beam fixtures have a much sharper and brighter beam than this one.

I just subscribed!!! Thanks so much for doing these no nonsense product reviews. You get right to business and I don’t have to skip 2- 3 minutes in to pass the glorified intros or someone’s life story. 😅 I really like the way to break these products down with all the key details like LUX measurements. Too many lighting videos show the “watts” used (power consumption) on an led fixture which does not directly correspond to actual light received on the target subject.

I have had a pair of these for a few years. Identical ones but with a different brand slapped on them anyway. They are very good for the price. They are not Clay Paky or Martin build quality but they are easily on par with a lot of the middle of the range 'disco' manufacturers that most people assume are better than Chinese gear.

2:35 for the daisy chaining more fixture do you just use the regular DMX cables or you have to use the powercon in & out? Kinda confused on that.

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

You would daisy chain the dmx signal with standard dmx cables.
If you want to avoid running a seperate power cable to each fixture, you can run the powerCon "out" from one to the "in" of another and effectively daisy chain the power as well as the dmx. Good question and thanks for watching.

Hey Steve two thins, I recently just bought my first dmx512 controller at around 59 bucks. When I plugged into my lighting rig, and set all my address to what i wanted them to be. Upon turning on the power switch and Dmx switch on the board, and pressing down the fixture scanning buttons, as the lights read it, the faders did nothing.. do you know how to help me fix this? And 2, do you have a discord server? If not you should make one because it would be a really good idea for what you do!

@@GothicLightingQueen ah bmfls, not as bad as Mac IIIs because at least the bmfl justifies it's size, the Mac III is just a big slow boat anchor... I suppose if you were looking for really really big then a Mac III with a beam kit or a shogun. Couple of city colours for washes (god that sounds like a horrible gig to tech on)

I guess it all just depends on your perspective. I've only owned really small moving heads before, so to me this one is huge and bright.

In order to understand how much shehds makes money on you, show us what's inside this head?
This is an outdated device that the Italian company Clay Packy started selling 20 years ago and it is called Sharpy, it was copied in China almost immediately with maximum reduction in price. Yes, we bought a "Chinese fake".
Plus, even this Chinese copy is already obsolete, now in China this model is sold very cheaply, as there are already new copies for fresh and modern head models with extended functions. Shehds is just a store that sells goods from different manufacturers and under the shehds brand not the best quality copies are sold, there are many manufacturers in China with a higher quality, you can find them at Chinese auctions and for much less money.

For some part time musicians like me, Shehds products are a good fit. I can't afford over a thousand dollars for even used ClayPaky Sharpy's (much less their newer models like their Sharpy X)
I own Harbor Freight Tools, Behringer mixers, and Shehds, U'King, and Riukoe lighting gear and it works for me.

@@LearnLizard There are a lot of good devices on your market from ADJ or Chauvet, which are very similar in function to Sharpy or Martin Aura and for quite reasonable money)
Do not forget that by buying Chinese fakes you are destroying the economy of your country, your children will not be able to get a good high-paying job in the future.

Thanks- For a casual musician like me, they are working fine so far- Will have to see how long they hold up under lite use.

The hot-spotting and bleed is truly terrible on this fixture. How on earth can you recommend it? Cheap shite.

To be fair the beam quality on a real sharpy is almost as bad.

Appreciate your point of view. I’m not a professional lighting tech guy, just a musician on a limited budget, trying to make a cool light show. So far far it's working well for me.
