you're always so good at making juicy animations. you seem to have really gotten a lot of mileage out of the animation player instead of making unique sprites everytime. i think it would be nice if you could do a video exploring some of the techniques you often use regarding animation.
heyyy I played this game on ld, really fun entry! but I didn't know it had such interesting story behind it, I'm really glad you decided to embrace failure and not give up because the end result was worth it and a half! congrads man this is inspiring
Fascinating story in making your game, completing on time, and also making it better than your first attempt which took longer to work on in the beginning. Great work!
Cool video as always! It's crazy how limited time can be helpful. I usually procrastinate during game jams that way I only have a few hours to come up with something!
I'm impressed you still let yourself sleep between finishing the game before work. It's really hard to temper excitement for an idea you know is good, especially during a jam. Gotta promote those healthy work habits!
small idea: you could also make the turn auto skip every ten (actual) seconds... never hurts to wrap up the thematic as tightly as possible, as sometimes indeed ppl can be quite picky about it the game feels absolutely great tho
Dont worry, it was quite a difficult theme at first. The game you ended up with looks great! Ill have to try it out after I finish editing my devlog, its looks pretty fun smacking demons :)
I played your game and it's very addictive. It's extremely basic but all the elements work together perfectly. If you had a shop or upgrades with some currency or something and you could have yourself pixel crack
Classic game dev moment. Give yourself 16% of the alotted time and still make a quality product. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug.
What? This has only 400 views? Insane editing, development, story telling!

That is simply amazing, the lessons here are really good. I could watch your videos about Godot gamedev all day.
Smack Demon looks cool. Great job sticking with the jam & making what you could in the remaining time.
That's crazy. This is actually really a great inspiration so thank you

Nice dude! you are just like 1 step ahead of me here in both youtube and game design so I'm not jealous. I'm not I swear!

I need to do game jams, but everytime I say I will, life and work gets in the way.
Algorithm's got you now! Would definitely love to see some stuff about the animations and making your games look and feel as good as they do!

underrated
The mechanics of this game are realy similar to hoplite (android app), but this game feels like a boss battle version of that game
Ofc this game is fun, it's basically an unintentional "Crypt Of The Necrodancer"!
smack demon turned out great!!
Man this pixel art is beautiful, also the animations are so slick. How did you learn pixel art so well?
A lot of practice! My early art was not great at all but I just watched a bunch of pixel art youtubers and kept practicing
Hey, short question, what was the name of the Aseprite theme that was used in the video?
Hello, it's just the default Aseprite dark theme you can find in the preferences. Hope that helps!
@@FirebelleyGames Ah I looked up why I couldn't find it! It's because I used a version prior to 1.3, but thanks anyways :)
nice work!
I love when I'm watching a game development video and then realize it's using Godot
You are in the right place, friend! You will see nothing but Godot content from me :)
