  • Ive been asked by many to show off my simple little shop I've put together as a full time knife maker! What tools do you think I need to add to the shop next???

I was just thinking. If you did nothing, your shop would probably be spotless. I also thought that a shop like yours tells a good story of hard work, you earn and that is excellent! And you are a one man business. actually I think you are doing very well. The last thought I had was that you are real and that is key. Have a nice weekend!

Most great artisans don’t have a tidy workspace, it’s because you’re busy creating! Your level of skill and making sure each knife is perfect may cause a bit of messiness in the shop but the final product speaks for itself! Always so proud of you and your talent bro!

Hi we enjoyed your tour and we see you have enough tools to get the jobs (your really fine work) done in the shop, you show us all that you can do anything from anywhere if you are passionate as you clearly are, we too are a home based machine and workshop. Lance & Patrick.

I just watched your shop tour. I don’t know why, but I like shops. I recently started getting into knives but I’ve spent 40 or more years in woods, most recently models and using a lot of exotic hardwoods. I have always taken great pride in my workmanship and finishes so the move to knives was pretty natural, even though I really suck at it. If you’ve made it this far, I do have a question: Why is it that knife makers do not use bench grinders? Everyone uses abrasive belts, but not abrasive wheels. I would think that a large wheel could really hog out a lot of material. Thanx. Your videos are very inspirational for me.

Actually some makers do use the large grinding wheels for bevel grinding. “12-15” . Which would be a hollow grind. It’s definitely a more affordable option I think!

I'm in my 3rd year of knife making and hoping I can go full time in the next year or so. I really need to upgrade my grinder and heat treat first though. I've reached the limits of quality I can achieve with what I have.

Appreciate you sharing . . . I have created a diamond sharper for my worn/dull abrasive belts out of cheap course diamond tools made for grinding stones. I also hate to throw our belts which are approaching $20 each.

I can appreciate the small shop space. I have a 7'x9' section of shed for my blacksmith shop. I dont have to move more than 2 steps for anything. I tell people it's a very concise workflow.

Hey, man. I'm really digging your shop setup and how you're able to maintain your productivity. As a fellow bladesmith trying to turn my small side business into a full time gig, I was wondering if maybe I could get some pointers on getting my project off the ground? I'd greatly appreciate any amount of time that you may be able to take for this. Thank you in advance!

I’ve been wanting to do a video on that topic for a while now! I’ll try to cover some of what helped me grow soon!

In my opinion a organized shop is not necessarily a productive shop
