I'm so glad I found a American(TH-camr) rooting for one of us. So many Jamaican TH-camrs acting as if black Americans don't have the African genes like them. Africa genetics run deep in us as well. So all you Jamaicans that think Americans can't get it done there you have it. So don't get it twisted. Besides the fastest woman of all time was USA.

Thinking about the semi-final again, I realize that it was the race that should have told us that THIS was more than a likely possibility. I mean, the girl got a HORRIBLE start, left in the blocks by 7 other runners but surpassed all but two at the finish line. Not only that, she was RIGHT up under them finishing like a bullet train. Yes, we should have realized that given just a DECENT start, winning was always on the cards.

I'm happy for her as well. The potential has always been there. Her disastrous 2021 included something often overlooked: the 6th fastest women's 100m in history (at the Miramar Invitational in April 2021). She needed maturity, focus and (like most of us on occasion) a taste of humble pie. I'm a 60 year old Black American and former Division III Asst Coach, far from the Big Tracks of the Div I schools....but still with mad love for the U.S. and all the Caribbean sprint teams! All have been the gold standard for nearly 60 years. Lots of national pride and competitiveness involving every country and team, as one would expect. However, most people would be surprised to learn that over the years many have not only been college teammates...but also personal friends of each other.

I mean, he was right to an extent. He said she lost and came in 9th before because she was unfocused and not taking her talents seriously. In proper context, he was right because that was then. This is now. This could've been her months ago.

This is what you can do when you apply yourself in the proper fashion. This is what you can accomplish when you discipline yourself. She took off those Spider Lashes and Finger nails and dug deep and held herself to a standard. This is what we are all capable of when we set aside foolish ways and focus. Moving in a positive, progressive manner

You want her to be that person because maybe you resonate with her on some level and just want society to understand and accept you the way you are but that's just not real life. Here, defeat humbled her and showed her that you must sacrifice to gain. You must put away foolish ways and elevate. I mean, it's as simple as comparing two videos.
