  • This is how I go about installing a PVC window into timber framing house.
It is not a tutorial, but if you are like me and really like to get your hands dirty, you enjoy that feeling of accomplishment you get at the end of a labor intensive day, then it might just be that you choose to replace windows at your house yourself, and this motivates & helps you. Good luck!
Drutex is just a brand like many. They really specialise in pumping out a ton of windows in PVC, and the quality is decent. They are fitted with MACO hardware.
Even though there are plenty (literally hundreds) of window manufacturers and many profiles to choose from, the hardware is only produced by a handful of large players, and it is all similar. Chances are that even though the window you are about to install is fitted with ROTO,SIEGENIA/AUBI or WINKHAUS hardware, the dismantling and procedure is virtually the same.
The PVC might not be the most climate friendly alternative but it is here to stay, its cheap and it delivers a lot of bang for the buck

    Hi
Great video!! Learned a lot :) just have a question are these metal clips all same size for drutex windows? My ones have a very bad install and there is none of them fixed on the windows. Is it easy to get them and where should i start looking 😅
    Thanks

      Hi
      Thank you.
For PVC from Drutex they are if fact all the same size, no matter what profile.
However different profile producers all use different sizes.
Find any Drutex reseller and they should give you some of these free of charge.
      Or order on the internet.
If you got these windows then you ought to find the clips too.
It’s unfortunate but for pvc windows in general the installation is crucial and often very weak
Let me know how did it go for you 👍🏻😃

My sons home is 90 years old and was owned by a Japanese American who used Sho Shogi Ban technique (burning the wood) we replaced the original windows but the wall framing that was burnt showed no sign of rot or decay. thought you might find this interesting.

      Yes it is interesting!
You mean the framing got burned in the opening for the window so it would close the pores and therefore be more water resistant ?
      Wow, very cool.
