most cars have a temp gauge in the cluster,mine does not.. so i just count the time,engine should be warmed up within around 10-15 minutes max of casual driving (diesel shifting at max 2500rpm,petrol at max 3000rpm) ,but that depends on the engine as well. For example my 1.7CDTi warms up MUCH slower than my uncle s BMW E53 3.0d. You just watch the temp gauge but be careful,coolant might be warmed up,but oil is not,so you should wait additional couple of minutes when the temp gauge shows optimal temperature. As i said within 10 minutes,15 at max it should be ok to floor it

@@DrivingExclusive But that's only because of the torque on the diesel. Because the 530i has more power with 258 hp and is also faster. Rain and snow slows down the vehicle. But I know what you mean, something is missing even though it is faster.
Amazing car, too bad it's too complex to maintain and unreliable, no matter what good things can be said about the N52, the rest of the car will crumble right before your eyes, because these cars change owners very often, and get neglected with oil changed, poor maintenance will be the doom of this car, not to mention reckless driving and pushing it too much
Yes it is ... bmws are fast i mean for the engine it has it is fast !! Expecially petrol engines on bmws have high rpms, bmws you feel their speed on a long track after 120 130km/h bmws are not so fast and the begining accelerating as for example audi but after they fly and their gears are long, i had a bmw 520d its weak but to compare with another brands same 4 cylinders mine was faster than mercedes 2.2cdi audi 2.0tdi opel 1.9d etc
