Bentos really are just one of those things that I'm consistently jealous of as an American. Our on the go options are usually just variations of Meat, Cheese, Bread, and maybe Egg or Potatoes. Seeing boxes full of lots of different items, commonly sold and in such variety, just makes me so envious.
Idk where you live but we have bento boxes in Cleveland, ohio and lots of other states. Also they are not expensive to make. I don't know your situation so i say this with respect.
I live in Connecticut, and I never saw them. Do you live in an area with a lot of Japanese immigrants? The stores may stock them just because there is a demand in that area.
The thing I am really jealous of is the self heating meals. Just pull a string. Closest we get in the US are Army MRE heaters that you have to add water to.
@@MrYfrank14 From what I see, it depends. I live in an area with a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants and we've been seeing more variations of them pop up over time. There's a small Japanese market in my area that has a few limited varieties of teriyaki, curry, or garlic chicken and the occasional tempura and a spicy tuna one you can get made to order. The Vietnamese ones have rice or rice noodle ones with your choice of chicken, beef, or pork. The Chinese ones have barbecue and roast pork usually though some have begun to serve eel in theirs. The self heating meals are usually the same as the MREs as well. They add the chemical at the line so when water reaches that point, it starts heating. It's not very common in a lot of western packaged foods, but you see it pop up a lot more in premium Asian brands.
@@zombiegoddess1524 I was less thinking on the bentos themselves and more just bemoaning the fact that options on the go for americans is way more limited. I drive a lot and the options are kinda sad

Japan is next level at this kinda thing and it's one of the many reasons I love Japan. They take food so much more seriously than we do here in the US--for those who don't know? That's why it's considered extremely rude to eat while walking, because it shows disrespect to the people that made the food you're eating. So I've heard anyway. Next time I go there I've got to get me one or two of those bento boxes.
The bento boxes definitely made for very hungry kids riding on the train. Plus I'm amazed how a full lunch set fits into those seemingly small and compact boxes.
At least not all of the chicken was "Sahara Desert quality" lol. Fun looking Bentos that can be repurposed, except the one which was all disposable packaging. How fun, though!
The cargo looking bento boxes are absolutely adorable and you can reuse them for almost anything I like the fact that the food they put in there is really like really good food it's not you know cheap it's it's good quality and it looks like it would be very filling I mean seriously it seems to me the money that you pay is definitely worth what you're getting.
Nah, pretty mild. Thank god. Just silence instead. ASMR has overtaken too many vids to an obnoxious level….like a Tide radio ad recently where they WHISPER, it’s so creepy and off putting!
I like these bento box packages especially because in North America perishable food is almost never served in a plastic opaque package, well drinks are but not foodstuffs usually. The idea of getting a meal in a reusable package is quite novel to me
They looked more adult flavored than the other but hat ceramic bowl my grandson would live for sure. I know he's watch some cartoon with that little ducky or chick on it
This all looks delicious. The disadvantage is that everything always comes into contact with plastic. Softeners can dissolve and get into the food. But to be honest, I would want to try these things just the same.
I would be stoked to get my hands on that Kuromi bento! I would buy two so I could use one as a lunch box and then keep the other one for display (after eating it of course!) 😂
I love love LOVE that some of them (e.g. 12:04) include meats on the list of potential allergens. I've never seen that here in Australia and I don't believe it's a thing in the US either, but it's very kind of them, although it could be an industry regulation in Japan... either way, very considerate. Not just for people who don't eat meat at all, but also for those who have red meat allergies, and for the example provided, people who consider the pig and/or the cow sacred animals that should not be consumed. Not sure if I would've done it like this though! 😅Hopefully the cute ones were aimed at children because that's a lot of food go through and try. I would've probably brought them home and filmed over several meals. Hope you didn't have any discomfort after all of that ♡ sucks to travel and move with too full a stomach. Love this channel! I keep going over the ones from 2-3 years ago. I love the supermarket convenience meals, the cheap candy and the expensive convenient delicacies. Edit: and very cheap for the amount of food you got! Wow! And I hope you had a drink with you :) lots of salty, savoury foods here. I did notice that you didn't really try the carrots though. If we ever meet on a train like this... y'know... I'd be very happy to take that off your hands haha. You can have my tofu!
when I go to shops in my area that sell snacks that you show, I make sure to grab ones I know I will like, Including ones I never seen before. Always try things once. I am hoping to find pre-made bento one day. OR self heating meals I would love that.

I have been to Japan several times, and always travel by train, but I have never seen any of those bento boxes at train station shops.
My favorite bento box on a train, was in Beppu last year. I dont remember the name of it, but it was in a beautiful container with about 20 small separate "windows", and each one contained another food. It was not only beautiful, but also really tasty. However: I have still not gotten used to eat food, that should be eaten warm, cold. So, if I can, I will always prefer to eat at a train station restaurant before or after a train journey. So that the food is warm.
If our Canadian Via Rail were to sell lunch boxes like these at the same price you paid, they would gain some respect from the Travelling Public. I loved the Big Bird one, which has a gorgeous yellow ceramic bowl.
OMG that was insane, so it's different meals for different trains nice, but the only trouble would be that I would be riding all these multiple times. 😂😂😂
