When you stopped under the bridge the details are awesome even the water looks amazing. Every time you stop I can't help but look around and see the detail on everything around you. Some of those stories are so interesting I love it!
Y'know, where Zeus was such a complex "villain" by the end of GOW3, cunning, proud, powerful but also fearful, and somewhat justified in his actions, Odin on the other hand, feels so petty, spiteful and cowardly that it's not hard imagining him sitting on his throne in Asgard, twirling his moustache and going "MWA-HA-HA!" while thinking of the next woman he'll tie to the train tracks (a figure of speech, but you get the idea).
Random thought, what if odin was infected by the evil from pandora's box as well after greece fell? Seems unlikely but seeing the timeline of GOW I keep that thought.
@@larrytherustyboii7442 it would be interesting, but according to Mimir's stories, Odin was always an @sshole, since the dawn of time, maybe. Unless the "Viking world" came to be after GoW1.

It's actually more logical? Idk, I would love to see an expert of Norse mythology reply's on this.
It’s interesting that Mimir describes Surtr as a selfless and patient person. Usually he’s depicted as the villain in Norse mythology but in this version he’s a hero of sorts.
I remember the narrator of Krato's life in GoW1-3. I'm always waiting for that narrator to talk and tell a story. And now, in GoW4 that Mimir comes. I miss the lady who tells the story and what's happening in previous GoW.

The stories are fairly faithful. 17:43 That story is altered though, originally the giant mason asked for Freya's hand in marriage, and Loki foiled the wager by seducing the giant's horse while disguised as a mare himself.... 12:16 Mimir’s arrival in the nine realms
13:32
(Don’t know what to name these tales)
All these are named in Lore and legends!❤
“Reflect longer” that killed me 😂
When you stopped under the bridge the details are awesome even the water looks amazing. Every time you stop I can't help but look around and see the detail on everything around you. Some of those stories are so interesting I love it!
I agree, i can't believe the detail sometimes, and they really went all out with the Norse Mythology hah love learning about it.
Zeus was just infected by the evil fear tho
Random thought, what if odin was infected by the evil from pandora's box as well after greece fell? Seems unlikely but seeing the timeline of GOW I keep that thought.
@@larrytherustyboii7442 it would be interesting, but according to Mimir's stories, Odin was always an @sshole, since the dawn of time, maybe. Unless the "Viking world" came to be after GoW1.
I'd like to remind y'all that Athena is still out there.
And I'll eat my hat if she is not revealed to be at least planning parts of this by 3rd game.
In all fairness, this is Mimir's perspective and he hates Odin with every fiber of his being. He probably committed those actions but if you knew you were going to die and your grand kingdom would become cinders, you too would do everything you can to avoid it.
Still, there's no doubt there are instances where his envy and ego creep in and reveal true evil
voice actor of Mimir is Clavicus the Vile in Skyrim. His voice fills him as very clever.
Is he really?
No he isn't
@@crackcourier2814 I know, I apologize for misinformation. i bought the game and tried to scramble notes from the internet to sate my satisfaction. there i found that it is not. Though, his tone and cleverness is spot on for me.
Odin trippin on shrooms
That had me laughing good lol
I love Norse mythology so much and have read about the gods and their great stories, it made sense that Vikings fought their battles in their name, even hoping to die as warriors to go to Valhalla; but hearing the these stories again by Mimir, but darker and more evil... It's actually more logical? Idk, I would love to see an expert of Norse mythology reply's on this.
It’s interesting that Mimir describes Surtr as a selfless and patient person. Usually he’s depicted as the villain in Norse mythology but in this version he’s a hero of sorts.
In this world the stories where the Aesir are heroes are mostly propaganda spread by them
In God of war every God is shown as a sorta of a villain or a bad guy...so makes sense the monsters are shown as good guys.
Surtr isn’t a villain in general any ways he is what seals the fate
28:26 made me chuckle. Sounds like when Ron from P&R found out about lil Sébastien "have some damn respect"
14:15 the only time Mimir swears?
Kratos' one-liners on the boat are comedic gold.
"Reflect longer".
I forgot my book at home so here i am listening to a talking head telling stories about gods and giants... yeah, interesting
Its actually really interesting.
24:36 "...for there is nothing nature so reviles as a child who kills their parent."
Kratos: this one I know too well
That story with the giant with 8 arms is super depressing
I watch the entire video in a complete silence. Memir is a great story teller.
12:40 holy crap that ties into the new game perfectly, odin just misses his high
3:35 clearly her curse has been broken since she was seen attacking Kratos in the new God Of War Trailer
I thought that too
"Back then in my land, there was a god who couldn't shut up, Mimir"
"What happened to him?"
"I cut his leg"
"Thank god I'm just a head"
"Back then in my land, there was a god who couldnt shut up, Head"
"Can I turn into a wolf?" - Atreus. Apparently yes
I remember the narrator of Krato's life in GoW1-3. I'm always waiting for that narrator to talk and tell a story. And now, in GoW4 that Mimir comes. I miss the lady who tells the story and what's happening in previous GoW.
Well that narrator is Gaia and well... Kratos.... let's just say he broke her heart.
Basically he killed the fucking narrator
He killed Gaia at the end of GOW3
Listening to Mimir makes me see how a piece of work Odin really is
IN-VUL-NER-A-BIL-ITY - The way Mimir pronounces that word is satisfying as anything.
It would do well to sit in silence and reflect on Odins capacity for cruelty...
And so-
"REFLECT LONGER!"
Most storytelling in games work best with a show-don't-tell narrative
But the opposite works best when you have a narrator with a soothing voice to tell you everything during a ride across the world
“Reflect longer”
"Goodfellows, they called us.."
"Goodfellows" is a mobster movie. what's another mobster movie?
The Godfather.
who's the player character in this game?
Kratos, the Greek GOD of war, and FATHER to Atreus. genius.
huh. clever.^^
Wrong Goodfellow.
I think he's talking about Puck from Midsummer Nights Dream.
You got that from jacksepticeye
Kratos: Head... your full of stories. When will you tell one that entertains?
Mimir: Feed me to the fish...
And that day, shall be the "Ragnarok"
The twilight of the gods. Love that line
I wonder if the next god of war games will involve Kratos using these stories as knowledge to unleash ragnorok.
The weakness for the walls of Asgard, maybe even clearing the way for Surtr the brave to destroy it all.
I'd wonder if Surtur is going to appear on the next God of War and he and Kratos are going to be allies , if Jormungar is Kratos ally so can Surtur
@@RicardoPerez-rz8pu No... I believe they will save it for the third game. They're definitely making a trilogy with this mythology just like they did with Greek.
@@FatalShotGG it’s called Ragnorak tho, it has to be about Ragnorak.
@@Ace-tw6cr given that loki has a lot of thing to do, his role as father of Jörmundgandr, Hel, and Fenrir alone is beyond the 3 years of fimbulwinter to pull off
And given that time travel is at play here, i dont think the next game would be *simply* about ragnarök
@@khangle6872 oh, the next game will be ragnarok for sure
The stories are fairly faithful. 17:43 That story is altered though, originally the giant mason asked for Freya's hand in marriage, and Loki foiled the wager by seducing the giant's horse while disguised as a mare himself....
Must be weird for Mimir to share that story with Atreus who is basically Loki lol... God of War's story is sketchy but a fun alternate take on the norse gods I guess lol.
I think this story was suppose to add towards the next game, he says “I think there is something that could be exploited that she knows of” and it has to do with the walls, witch is crazy the amount of depth they are giving about the next game just by this one story.
@@iwu5737 That should be interesting.
@@zion6680 well they basically had to alter it considering that loki (probably the most important figure in north mythology) doesn't exist
@@datonekidvids1432 In the game universe or irl? I mean irl makes sense, but can you elaborate further?
@@iwu5737 I can already picture Kratos beating Freya's teeth down her throat to wrench the secret out of her, just so Kratos and the BOI can play with a giant dominoes set piece for 15 minutes xD
8:00
Atreus: "You sure I can't turn into a wolf?"
Kratos: "You are welcome to surprise me"
Atreus in Ragnarok: "Bet"
So many times when going for 100%, I would just sit on the boat waiting for the story to end
So by Mimir being Robin Goodfellow, Puck as it were, that means his first king was Oberon, king of the Faeries.
Who I played myself in production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Which means I have actively participated in God of War lore and somehow that’s absolutely hilarious to me.
28:15 by far, THE funniest moment in GoW.
Let's talk facts: Mimir deserves a spin-of
This is done so well. I only intended to listen to the first story, but i ended up watching the whole video. xD
mimir seems kinda like a deus ex machina for the story at offset, but i guess it fits his character in his knowledge i suppose.
Here in 2021 thinking, man it would’ve been absolutely hilarious, if SMS were to have named the sequel anything else other than Ragnarok. Mimir hypes it up so much in the first game, it’s almost exhausting. 🤣
Really breaks my heart knowing the game is delayed, & isn’t on track for a Winter 2021 release though. 🤦🏻♂️
I’ll definitely b visiting the video regularly, to refresh my memory. 💯
Thanks. 🤲🏼🌹🤲🏼
The game was delayed because of Christopher Judge, the actor for Kratos. He had to have surgery on both his hips, one or both of his knees, and his back I believe. They went out of their way to delay the game so Chris could recover. That is abnormal for a studio to do, especially in that industry.
i feel like when fraye spit on his face he couldnt tell them his weakness
Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical.
@Cole-talion woosh
@Mclovin Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical
Fun Fact: Mimir's voice is also the voice of Senator Steven Armstrong.
Are you serious? They really don't sound the same at all!
@@alexseguin5245 Ikr, Alastair Duncan's something else.
Throughout every story, Mimir's disdain for Odin as a person is both clear, and concise.
Thor being half giant and half god just like atreus is a pretty cool touch.
There's one thing i still don't get:
Is Baldur blessed with invulnerabiliy to all threats, physical or magical?
Mimir: . . . It begins in an ocean of blood!
Kratos: Finally, some good fucking food.
“A fairy king’s errand boy and official jester.”
I wish I noticed soon they merged Puck and Mimir together. Awesome. However, I also noticed his reference to the time he messed up in *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*.
Yes, but Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical
14:18, huh never really heard him swear before
try senator armstrong from mgr revengance
Atreus: looks like there was city under the water...
Mimir: aye lad a forgotten city!!!
Atreus: what was it's name??
Mimir: well... I forgot!!,🤣🤣🤣🤣
11:45
Shit, Mimir's Puck... Well that explains the horns.
Story with 17:04 talks about the giant in ac Valhalla where eivor or odin fights the giant after loki tricked him great game also shame i sold my ps4 to help with mother surgery i aint had a job people just dont like me i guess
Best story teller
Atrues: father, do you know any good stories?
Kratos:...a talent agent is sitting in his office...
The more of Mimir's stories I hear, the more I am convinced God of War(2018) is somehow a treatise on Foreign Relations.
I wish there was a book or audiobook entirely composed of Norse stories like this. It’s so hard to find actual detailed stories from Norse mythology, everything is muddy and unknown. I wonder where the creators of the game got all this information
Mimirs story telling is as good as Kratos fighting and his wisdom is as great as Kratos Strenth in combat
wait i never heard that last one. really cool to think it like that.
