- Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor -- best known for their iconic roles on the TV series "Xena: Warrior Princess" (1995-2001) -- entertain fans who gathered to see them at the 2018 Fan Expo Canada in Toronto by answering their questions and sharing funny behind-the-scenes stories.
"Xena: Warrior Princess" is an American fantasy television series filmed on location in New Zealand. The series aired in syndication from September 4, 1995 until June 18, 2001. It has been praised by critics for its strong female protagonist and has since acquired a strong cult following, attention in fandom, parody, and academia, and has influenced the direction of other television series. The series narrative follows 'Xena' (played by Lucy Lawless), an infamous warrior on a quest to seek redemption for her past sins against the innocent by using her formidable fighting skills to now help those who are unable to defend themselves. Xena is accompanied by 'Gabrielle' (played by Renee O'Connor), who during the series changes from a simple farm girl into an Amazon warrior and Xena's comrade-in-arms; her initial naiveness helps to balance Xena and assists her in recognizing and pursuing the "greater good."
Lucille Frances Lawless, MNZM (born March 29th, 1968) is a New Zealander actress and singer. She also portrayed 'Number Three' on the re-imagined "Battlestar Galactica" series (2005-2009) and 'Lucretia' on "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" (2010), its prequel "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena" (2011) and its sequel "Spartacus: Vengeance" (2012). Lawless had recurring roles as 'Diane Lewis' on the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation" (2012-2015), and as 'Countess Palatine Ingrid Von Marburg' on the WGN America supernatural series "Salem" (2015). She also starred as Ruby on the Starz horror-comedy series "Ash vs Evil Dead" (2015-2018). Evelyn Renée O'Connor (born February 15th, 1971) is an American actress, producer, and director who also has extensive industry experience beyond her "Xena" role.

This show had such a huge impact on me during my younger years. And I still rewatch it often and still love it very much. This show was special and left a real legacy. Lucy and Renee, love them both
You can't replace Lucy and Reneé as Xena and Gabrielle they are the perfect Xena and Gabrielle and that goes for the cast, good and evil characters
As much as i want to see them play those characters again...they also said Lynda Carter couldnt be replaced. Hell even I said that....hello Gal Gadot. She does a fantastic job with wonder woman.

@@TornadoChickWeatherNetwork I agree with you .only this would work is if Lucy / Renee return as Xena / Gabby and( Xena granddaughter take on A Gabrielle role) and either Gabrielle daughter or Sarah daughter take on a Xena role ) because Xena scrolls is only episode to indicate that Gabrielle had children besides hope she presumably had them after Xena death and they were to meet up befriend like Xena and Gabrielle ?

Everyone hated the ending it was horrible total injustice to the entire series! We never find out what happens to Ares or Aphrodite or even Eve. I think it would have been cool when Gabrielle is on the boat going to Egypt if Eve took xenas place and they fought together

Look great - need to bring Xena back - with Lucy & Renee - lots more stories to tell - what about 1-2 television movies per year with great story arcs? This can be done Rob Tapert - wonderful stories of friendship and redemption - great writing and casting!
As Lucy once said, my sons don't watch that, they don't want to see their mother on tv. But Renee's kids love the show, being the actors that they are.
She said her kids were on set, so they saw everything firsthand.

whatever... they'd really must to do something together, I never understood why they never exploited that chemistry they had on screen in another show or movie o whatever...
there's not a great you can ask them they've not been asked in 20 years lol. and the censors didn't allow the relationship so they mostly implied it heavily with subtext, and they wanted to do a reunion but universal or NBC who have the rights now said they'd rather explore a reboot despite Lucy and Renne and the production company who made the show all saying they'd happily do a short return to fix the series finale and maybe pass the show onto a new generation so the show can continue without them front and centre.

I was a super fan of the show and I am still one... love Xena and Gabrielle.
Lucy Lawless still has the scream. If they reboot Xena she should play Xena's mom. Also Kevin Smith's Ares was a fan favorite in Hercules the Legendary Journeys and Xena Warrior Princess. Also him continuing to play on Ares in Young Hercules on Fox Kids starring Ryan Gosling was also amazing. It's amazing how he played Ares in all 3 franchises simultaneously. I feel Ares and Strife portrayed by Joel Tobeck were the connective tissues between all 3 shows. Man also Lucy Lawless' Wonder Woman in Justice League New Frontier was impressive.

It was this serie Xena the warrior prinses and their character that it felt sjoo real and beatiful that i just wanted to go to New zeeland just to meet xena and gabriele.i was just 9 or 10 years old then.

I'd like to see a continuation of Xena. They could spin it off the episode in season 6 that shows clones of them in 2001. Would love to see what would happen after they'd eventually meet Harry, Matti, and Anna. For the overall arc of a sequal show like that it could involve them getting tricked by the war machine like so many were. As for the casting call I would keep the same cast, and since I couldn't get Kevin Smith as Ares, I actually think the other Kevin Smith who's known for films like Dogma, Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, ect could handle the role.

they can bring Xena back - no one ever dies in Xena - there could be a great storyline of Xena coming back and freeing Gabrielle (and former Amazons) from slavery. All kinds of things can be considered - how did Gabrielle evolve as a warrior? Would Xena;s dark side return after she sees Gabrielle has been tortured as a slave? Don't forget Joxer and Autolycus!

Watching the show I liked Xena a little more than Gabrielle, but in real life, I like Reneé more than Lucy, Reneé shines from far away though I realize Lucy is a hell of a smart woman, the only thing is I don't like the causes Lucy stand for, they're fake causes. Love Reneé.
