This is the prettiest bird and rose painting & just love all of the many different colors in the caffinch. I have been working on a goldfinch painting and now Mike wants to start birdwatching! Thanks for your demonstration & potential new hobby.

I really like when you talk. I learn so much history, to which I find endlessly fascinating! I love how you don't blend and use your finger. I love how the colors layer to give such life to your subjects. This is a whole new way for me to paint but, I love the look and energy of it all. David you said you don’t know the black collared barbet. Google it is a southern African bird very popular should sell well with all the South Africans that have settled in USA.

Sorry to hear about toxic oil paint , like perhaps cadmium red, yellow or green? Guess I was exposed to it too only for about a year.
Yes, just have to be careful. My problem is we weren't as artists in the 70's and 80's.

You have to make sure everyone can see it. Only people you friend can see them. Best way is to just make a normal post. Then everyone can see it.
Beautiful painting of the sketch done 160 years ago! My hubby was in the USAF, and we were blessed to go to Paris and toured the Louvre way back in 1975. And that WONDERFUL painting that hangs in the living room at the studio! So beautiful! I am trying to get out of a slump. ❤️😊
Painting and creating can get you out of that slump. If your on facebook Diane, join the group "Academies of Decorative Art". It is a large group of my students sharing, talking and working through the processes of creating. Lots of fun help and great people in the group. 😀

I'm here in God's country now where all these beautiful birds come to visit every morning. I need to spend more time painting and less time on the porch watching the birds play. Thank you Kelly, at our house in Pennsylvania one of the rooms in my studio has a HUGE picture window where I put out bird feeders. Just love painting in that room and watching the birds. They are so inspirational. 😀

Wow I absolutely love the colours in this painting I was waiting for the bird to fly away So perfect. I came in contact with my ex art teacher from 20 yrs ago I asked her if she had heard of you She said she had met you in Melbourne in 2002 Showed me pictures of you and Martha You had very dark hair then 😊. You are amazing David. I wish you could do this in oils too. My acrylics dry up so fast
I let my acrylics dry. That is why I do it. I do not blend colors. Paint does not have to be wet to paint. I developed these techniques because I could not use oils any more because of my health. Watch my other videos, you will see I let paint dry. It doesn't have to be wet to make a beautiful painting. Thank you!!!

I have done that many times. I will here in the challenge. To be honest though, when I put them in branches etc, they do not sell as well for me. Something about adding the second element of flowers makes them sell for more and faster. I will do it. 😀
This is the first chaffinch I have ever seen - it is a beautiful bird and you have really done it justice! I like your technique with these birds.

David, I been watching your Dutch Masters Painting on website. That is a tremendous amount of work. Don't think I would have ever painted any thing if I had to do all that.
Doing a flora and thought perhaps do a little Grisaille on the flowers each a different value ( but no detail) just to let the light colors shine through like your yellow rose with the white under tone
It is a lot of work, but they did it that way in the old days because pigments were so expensive, black and white were not. 😊
