I love these hidden flags videos. When most of the tech world remains elitest about ChromeOS it's great to see love for a really good operating system. Most people aren't don't even use any desktop apps other than Chrome anyway.

I think the office suite apps find more use than chrome. And now you can only have MS office desktop variant on windows pc.

just got the Duet 5 and I've never been happier. I own an iPad, Tab S7 Plus, and a Surface Pro 4, and I love the Duet far much more than all of the others. it's so different. not just the same setup as always. the Battery life is truly amazing, two usb c ports, 50 watt fast charging, comes with keyboard and back stand case. it's just awesome. I'm looking forward to really learning how to use ChromeOS So I can get the most out of my new computer!

Thanks for keeping us informed! Its such a small community that nobody seems to cover. Unfortunately I have to return my Acer Spin 713 due to connectivity issues with my Eero Pro 6. There's no comparable Chromebook out there so I'll just be without 😩😩😩 I'm trying not to buy a Windows laptop but I need a device!! The Acer was ALMOST perfect for my needs.

Great, the launcher not only appears after hitting the 'everything' key on your screen or keyboard, but also when you swipe up with two fingers with the cursor on the shelf bar.

Do you have a video about customizing the ChromeOS? Can you limit access to just the Chrome browser, nothing else like youtube, etc...? I would like to make a turnkey system to navigate to my WebApp and that's all I want in general running. Is this possible?
You talked in this video about wanting a ton of shortcuts, does ChromeOS/Browser make the provision for a WebApp to override and take over some of the shortcuts for its own use?
If all shortcuts are taking over by the browser, it ruins the experience I want to offer in my web application (PWA). For example, I was wanting to use Ctrl-Tab in conjunction with the Tab to navigate across some special bookmarks in my app but I had to give up Ctrl-Tab because it's already snapped by the browser. Arrow-Keys and Control-Arrow-Keys are also functions I expose in my app. Thank you.

  • @RobYoung

Thanks for this info. These are really helpful flags, however, when using the side search, I have noticed that the G doesn't show up unless I click a link that is listed as an AD which opens in the same tab. If I click on a link that is not an AD, it opens in a new tab and doesn't give me the G for side search. Has anyone else noticed this? Search something (say Lenovo) click on the AD link and it will open in the same tab and give you the G, but if you scroll down and hit the Lenovo link that is not the AD, it will open in a new tab with no G (side search). Very odd. Basically, I can't search something random, like Zebras, and get the G, because there are no AD links when searching Zebras, and so if I wanted to do further research on Zebras, I wouldn't be able to use the side search. :)

With the recent launch of ChromeOS 97 (stable) and _finally_ the 4 week update cycle - are we any closer to the LaCrOS split out for Chromebooks predicted by Robbie back in March last year (pre v94)?
As a basic Chromebook user (non developer) is there anywhere to keep up to date on this in plain (simple) english? Thanks

The dark/light options break my notifications. Make them unreadable. Text is the same color as the background chosen. Also, when in "my files" when selecting anything (in dark mode) it whites out the selected file. Text unreadable. Very ugly. Hope they fix this when it come stable. Chromebook is a very advanced operating environment and far soupier to Android and windows when it comes to Linux. People who hate Chromebook are not buying the right one. I recently got a Chromebook and after a very rocky start, it took 4 days to update it and get it to finally log into an account, I have been exploring the UI and features.
I use Windows, Linux and MacOS and I am struck by just how much ChromeOS takes cues from MacOS. In some cases almost spot on for the Mac way of doing things. Having said that it does miss out on a lot of productivity methods. It also lacks some key Apps and the Apps it does have are sometimes cruder than I am used to. But for the price and ability to run on a very light machine, it is impressive.
