Very cool compilation, Jonny! I saw the first part about Phil Jackson, and you make a great case for him to be the greatest coach ever. It definitely isn't easy to manage so many egos. One can bring up brilliant gameplays, but, as you clearly indicated with your video, interpersonal relations and motivation are also critical. I agree that Jackson was excellent at both - he knew how to lead the team and create brilliant strategies. I agree that he was integral to the Lakers' and Bulls' success. Excellent GOAT case for MJ. He's my choice for GOAT also. I admire how he was excellent on both ends of the court and was consistent. Indeed, while everyone has bad games (MJ included), MJ stepped up in the finals and that's why I give him the edge over LeBron (as you mentioned, LeBron infamously played poorly in the 2011 NBA Finals). While there is a solid GOAT cases for others, I agree that Jordan's excellence on both ends of the court (along with how he is skilled at so many aspects of the game) and his consistent excellence is why he's better than others. You gave a solid argument for why the 95-96 Bulls could beat the Warriors. I think Pippen and Rodman would hamper Durant (I think they both would guard him). I agree too that MJ and Harper would give Thompson and Curry trouble, respectively. I also think that while MJ doesn't have the greatest 3 point percentage, he would step up in the finals and would have a good 3 point shooting performance (just like how he did in 1992). Steph's the better shooter, but I think MJ would knock down critical 3 point shots. It'd be an epic 7 game series between the Bulls and the 2017 Warriors. I will be watching more of the compilation, but really enjoy the beginning of it (and am excited to watch more of it) :). I hope you had a nice Christmas, Jonny! Take care :).
Here's MJ in anime terms: He was a super saiyan during the regular season. A super saiyan 2 during the playoffs. And a super saiyan 3 during the finals. The only time he was a regular saiyan was during his years with the wizards, and he never once was pushed to go to his final form. I absolutely believe that MJ had one last gear up his sleeve that was sadly never used because his finals series never went to a game 7. The Suns series was probably the closest thing to him getting pushed to his final form, but even then, i still think he has a level above that.
@ you was putting it in anime terms and I did to lol I was joking chill. Also it imply here because of Jordan being 6-0 and not losing again it was a joke you took seriously
@kam01096 it was a metaphor. But I get what you're saying now. I wouldn't call 6-0 plot armor, though, since there were no writers involved to formulate said plot armor. Plot armor makes it sound like it was scripted. That's the issue I had. But yes, I do see what you mean now. Thanks for clarifying.
3:07 The look on Krause's face as he's staring at Rodman's name on the back of a bulls jersey is priceless😂. That right there shows you how much beef Chicago and Detriot had back then😂. The last dance may have left a couple of things out from those days for all we know.
31:37 I've watched a lot of these early games of MJ and most of those shots were last second shots from half court or more. So, I wouldn't call him a bad 3-point shooter based on that, and instead give it the proper context, which is that he would hoist up last second shots and those are by definition very low percentage shots.
Hey Johnny! Would you be able to make a video comparing the 1995-96 Bulls to the 1996-97 Bulls? The 97’ team went 69-13 that year, but they lost 3 of their last 4 games. I’m always surprised when I don’t see the 96-97 Bulls in the top 10 all time greatest teams on a few lists I’ve seen online. Oh yeah, and Chief was on the Bulls in 97’ 😁 You’re the best at making these kinds of videos for 80s-90s NBA nuts like me!
I just want to give props to KC Jones who won 8 MBA championships as as a player. Won 2 NCAA college championships. Coached his teams to 5 championships wining 2 while losing 3. He too like Phil Jackson had HOF players on his roster. He coached his teams to 4 60+ seasons and has a .643 winning ng pct. Also Billy Cunningham is a coach no one talks about. He won a Chsmpionship as a player, Coached the 6xers to 8 50+ game wins with two seasons with 60+ wins. 3 championship appearance while winning one. With a .698 wining pct!
Regarding Rodman, aside all his physical attributes, a big part of his game was also his ability to completely frustrate whomever he was guarding, I saw a lot of centers lose their mind over that 3 peat run.
"..... wouldn't be caught dead on a banana-boat" lol Don't you remember that photo of Laimbeer, Barkley,Bird, and Tom Chambers on vacation together??? jk
2:44:40 the grip on Mr.Byrd's throat vs his reaction grab back... knuckles closed push back or about to try ripping out his throat but his face says "woah, now..calm down."
Funny thing about JJ throwing shade on expansion teams was him doing it to a player that played on a team that disproves his theory. Not to mention he brings up the Bobcats. Which, if anything helps show that if expansion watered down the league it was during LeBron’s era. Not MJ’s. The Charlotte Hornets were a good team before they moved to NOLA.
On MJ's 3pt shooting early in his career', it should be noted that he took less than 1 per game. They likely were heaves at the basket in short clock situations or end of quarters. It was a time when the name of the game was attacking the basket and being physical. It's like the difference between medieval hand to hand combat and mastering your weapons. and more modern warfare that lobbed grenades at the opposing forces. The point I believe isn't emphasized nearly enough, if at all, was the fact that he was determined use any confidence you had in a perceived sufficiency, as an opportunity to look into your eyes to let you know he sees he took that confidence away. That poor individual would go out of his way to avoid direct eye with MJ after that. That move effectively took away from their game that night. How many players in history could score on you at will and stop you from reaching your averages? What would that do to you psychologically? Yeah, don't believe me, listen to his competition.
You could really say the 93-94 bulls was the best bulls team ever. Altho i do think the 72 win team does better with the warriors because rodman was just a menace. Horace grant was better offensively but rodmans overall play would be more effective and the x factor ron harper. One of the most underared players ever. Early career had MJ comparasions later on due to injuries became a lock down defender and could guard every player on that warriors team
Nobody else won with these teams. He's a scottie pippen migraine away from having 12. Also has one as a player. Hard to say that he's not the best ever. People also have no idea how dominant those bulls teams where.
Don’t see how you can say MJ career was perfect. He has 6 rings which means more than half his career was spent not competing for championships. The math is simple
Look it context subject we can only speculate but 90 players wouldnt like analytics three point no defense. They play team oriented inside out create on the break with lay up dunk high percentage.real coachin
Lol. You don’t even mention the Bulls Blowing a 15 point Lead in the Second Half of Game 1 in 1994 at New York. That is where they lost the series. Lazy!
😎Lmao,JJ Reddick sound like a clown asking Shaq, was the NBA watered down during the Jordan era.."Let me answer that for you JJ",hell ta da naw,if anything,it's watered down now,the NBA is soft as hell right now, compared to back in Jordan and Shaq's era". 🤔Are you serious JJ,u gotta be kidding me bro..
The idea that the 90s Bulls would beat the 2017 Warriors is laughable. It's like arguing a WWII-era fighter could beat a modern jet fighter. You can argue the 90s Bulls were a greater dynasty--and I'd probably agree. But the notion that you could put them on the same court and have a competitive contest is a joke. Just imagine the Bulls playing at their grind-it-out triangle pace while the Warriors fly around the perimeter draining 3s. Who in the 90s did the Bulls have to guard who compared to Kevin Durant? Phil Jackson couldn't even handle 2010s basketball in 2015--I should know, I'm a Knicks fan. 80s teams if any at all would actually fare better, because at least they could play with pace.

Red Auerbach has to be the GOAT; coach and executive.

TBF the Bulls were already in the ECF before he started coaching them. So he didn’t exactly take them from rags to riches. Not to say he didn’t help.
Pippen had 1 and 3rd years to prove he could do it without Mj
Mahomes and Phil Jackson share the same birthday and the Chiefs are about to 3 peat
“Greatest dynasty” of the 90s*. FTFY
Rodman would average 20+ rebounds in today's NBA but he would retire quick coz he's gonna get bored by the lack of box out
Can you make a video with The Deep 3?
Pippen was a great player could do it all i will take him on my team in his prime as my sf
You are the best
LeBron James hasn’t played defense in 12 years or more now. 😂

I say this all the time. If LeBron James had Phil Jackson as a head coach from day 1 till now LeBron would have at least 12 rings by now
