Started at 12 yrs old, early 1980’s had my own small pickle field, made more in 1 hr every morning than working a shift at a restaurant. Did this thru high school, always made more than my friends did working a job!
I started working for my Dad's business at age 12. My late husband also started working for his Dad at the same age too. They were not cushy jobs. Both Dad's paid into FICA for us. That helped my late husband when he became disabled at age 52. The Social Security person working his case was impressed that he had worked steady for 40 years. She knew he would be working if he could.
First job was picking vegetables in the summers as a kid. $1 bushel for green beans, other veggies were by time ( back in the 60s)! Taught work ethics and to never stop learning. I enjoy your videos- still learning and enjoy flipping in my retired life…
Nice. My best man at my wedding worked picking apricots. All of my friends in the mid 70's were working at doing something during our high school years.
You are very inspirational! You actually responded to my direct message because you have a little time to spare! Thank you!!! I know you are busy and cannot answer everyone’s questions! I wish you well ! Your videos are extremely encouraging!
13:50 I love that walking cane! I have several even though I rarely use one now that I've had both knees replaced, but I used one long enough that I notice fancy ones and that one is epic! Good length too at 36". I had trouble finding long enough ones or sturdy enough ones. I had one that BROKE on me and made me fall on the concrete one time. Anyway, great find!
If I remember correctly, lol, my first job was a newspaper delivery girl at 15…I got bored walking so I got my rollerskates on and put the big double sided newspaper holder over my head and off I went. My second job was working for this man who hired students to make money for him in the summer by going around neighborhoods (in Stockton 😮) painting the address numbers on curbs of houses. When I realized how much he was making off of me, I went and bought the materials to go on my own, and did just that.. alone. Definitely got my work ethic from my dad. Fun times👍
Saw your last video… picked up Amish inn books after you were recommending it. Sold in 3 days for 23.75! Lot of 6 books. I have tons more too. Paid 50 cents per pound at bins. Thank you!
Mike i was the only girl "paperboy" at 14. Of course i was brutalized. Before that I sold Avon at 12. I was always a hustler. Worked as a ER nurse for 20 yrs, before that i did cardiac ultrasound. Now im in Drug/ Alcohol and Correctional nursing. Of all the hustles...nursing is the worst. Started reselling over a yr ago. What I sell is quirky. Ive had some movie scavengers contact me for some of my items. Its fun and a challenge. I like your advice on pondering on what to do near retirement. Yes you need to start early if its selling bc its a long slow crawl. Good day to you!!
When I was litte (20 yr old...) I thought Silicon valley was a valley they mined silicon from :P. Oh and your videos aren't free, they are costing me Time Wealth, but it's wealth well spent :)
Mike, Several years ago, someone sold me over 100 movie theater movie posters and window film for $10. He used to own a small theater in Guam way long ago. It's been difficult for me to lay them out to straighten to take pics and post somewhere. Looking up comps has been a drag since I'm not a movie buff. Great info about selling battery-op radios. I'll keep my eye out for some.
