    You are now my new favorite TH-camr! Absolutely awesome information, stunning plants! Finally nice to see a TH-camr that does planty stuff, actually have the quality plants to match their words and it proves you know truly what you’re talking about. So often you watch TH-camrs do plant videos, but their plants look like crap.
    Not yours!!!! You show the progression each makes and it totally backs up what you’re saying. Integrity & Quality are yours!

    I can't believe I missed this video for a month!! Verrucosum is my 1st favorite plant. and it's very rare in my country. I recently managed to buy a two leaf cutting of it and I want to do my best to grow it to something as gorgeous as yours. now I know what to do. thank you a million times for your awesome videos. these plant spotlights are great

    I found a cheap one at a garden centre here in the Netherlands a week ago, and repotted it onto a moss pole straight away! Fingers crossed mine will grow just as big and beautiful as yours 😍

    woww it's so gorgeous!! I love verrucosums too, the only tricky thing for mine has been getting it to stop putting out extrafloral nectaries that scar the leaves

      how did you manage to stop that? I have the same problem with some of my Philodendrons

      @@Sophia1991sd It seems like extrafloral nectaries happen for me whenever the plant is stressed out, so it could be a number of things. For me, I had my verrucosums in too much light, so when I reduced to medium bright the nectaries stopped.

    It's good you are honest about the care requirements. I like the looks but I just can't take care of it. Maybe I'll just print a photo of it and hang it on the wall 😉 That's one way to go 😊

    Gorgeous plant!
    I didn't that recognize it's that beauty. Coz i seldom see it.
    Here in the Phils. plants owner killing it left and right so i heard, bec. it demands/needs lots2 of humidity. For now it is just a dream plant to me,bec where i live mostly hot weather,except there's a typhoon.
    But i did survive calatheas(prayer plants) so i am happy with what i have .

    I just use white oil every few weeks... Except if we are expecting blisteringly hot days. I also use that Yates Rose Gun spray.

    Beautiful plant. I got rid of bugs from my alocasia by using natural neem oil. The brown thick one. You mix it with water and put in a spray bottle. Always do a test run before going crazy. Good luck ands for the video

    This is my favourite Philodendron species, those massive leaves are so magnificent. You mentioned spider mites, have you considered predatory mites as biological control?

    Jan, when you were experimenting with different pole fillings, out of the aroid mix and sphagnum moss, which one did you find dried out the fastest/find yourself watering more often?

However there is one question which constantly bugging me about sphagnum moss for your moss pole is that it can be quite acidic in a long run, how to do prevent that acidic build up in your moss pole for your philo to grow so well?

      Due to good airflow I haven’t had any mould issues :) i recorded part 2 last weekend but it’s almost 3.5 hrs of footage so it will take me a while to edit

    Do you have a trick to prevent the Verrucosum from browning? Mine will pop out 2 leaves, turn brown then die. Rinse and Repeat. It looks like a little Bean Stalk for jack to climb up.😂😂

    I’m curious, with how mature your plant collection is (this verrucosum included) have you had any luck with flowering? I’m trying to figure out what conditions might be ideal to encourage flowers for pollination.

    it looks like the matured form of verrucosum incensi but ain't sure, mine is still on its juvenile form

    Gloriosum is like Nike, sturdy and can take some abuse. Verrucosum is like Gucci. I cant deal with it and it intimidates me lol

    Hey Jan, great video! But how do you make sure that the plant attaches to the moss pole? I just ordered my first verrucosum and I'm afraid its aerial roots aren't developed well enough to connect them to the moss pole..

      The plant naturally attaches itself to the pole :) that’s what they do in nature

One more question; is it always necessary to water the whole pole even when the plant is still very small, or is it enough to only water around the part of the moss pole that the plant is attached to? It seems like a waste to water the whole 90cm of the pole if the plant is only attached to the very bottom of the pole..

    I've killed this plant so many times. Sad because if i can only have one plant it'll be verrucosum no doubt. But i never had luck with this guy... I guess it's just not meant to be.

      @@sydneyplantguy you know what... After i commented this, i purchased one since it's so affordable now. 4 leaves for less than 10 USD lol. I thought I'll give it a go again, because i think my previous house where i grew them is too hot and dry for them.

      I use both :) prop sticks for propagations, my own moss poles for my ‘mother plants’

    Every petiole is getting brown but the plant seems to be okay und uncreases in size. Do you know that phenomenon?

      The periole or the stem? The stem going ‘woody’ is normal but never heard about perioles going brown :O

      @@sydneyplantguy it begins at the top part by the leaf and all hairs turns brown.

      We only seem to be having one type here and it’s just referred to as verrucosum :)

    Do you put 2 of same species on 1 pole ? Or same plant on a moss pole ?

      Yes i often add multiple cuttings on one pole :)
