The best part about this video isn't changing the light bulbs, it's showing how easy it is to change the air filter since the dealer will try to charge you $50!
Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to do this myself! I bought the bulbs then was about to call the dealership to install them after reading the owner's manual because it said very plainly that "you cannot change the headlamps yourself" and it was talking about risk of electrocution and bulb explosion. It gave no instructions on how to do it. I have a 2013, and it was even easier than in your example because the air filter wasn't in the way on my model. The hardest part was getting the electrical connection to separate, but with a little wiggling and persistence it came off. I did both sides, and really they were both very easy. I wore vinyl disposable gloves to avoid getting any of my skin oils on them, and used a headlamp which made it easier to see down in there. I also wore safety glasses, because I was still a little spooked about bulb explosion, but nothing that dramatic happened. Thank you thank you! :)
I agree that the owner manuals are allowing for fewer and fewer maintenance items that you can do yourself. It's really silly and I know why they do it but thanks to videos like this one we can take some of the power back. :)
I've successfully changed both low-beam bulbs on my 2015 Mazda 3, so I want to insert my experience here for reference. Passenger's side is easy, if you know how to do driver's side, so I will focus on the driver's side. The hard part is removing power cable from the bulb using one hand without looking. You want to do this before removing the bulb from the socket, as the socket serves as your "second hand" to hold the bulb for you when you pull the cable. My suggestion is to practice using removing the power cable connected to high-beam bulb first, because you can actually see where you should press to get the power cable to disengage. Once you successfully pull out the power cable, twist the bottom of the bulb to remove it from the socket (forgot it was clockwise or counterclockwise, try both ways). When putting the new bulb, you want to first connect the bulb to the power cable, and then twist it into the socket - again without looking, so you will need to feel and try. Pull the bulb and make sure it is secure once you are done, voila!
This was the most helpful comment for me. For 2018 Mazda 3 S, the challenge is disconnecting the power housing from the bulb. For driver's side, you must do this first before rotating to release the bulb and you need to press the middle of the housing for the tab and pull straight down. For passengers side, you should rotate the bulb first to observe the power housing - get a flathead screw driver and disconnect the tabs on the sides where it clips in then pull straight down.
Thanks for this great video. I have seen other videos for the same car, but you turn the driver wheel to the right and un-clip the inner wheel liner to gain access to the low beam bulb. Taking the top of the air filter box is much faster !
You just saved me a bunch of time and money I was already short on. Thank you so much! This is so much easier than the other guides that have you undoing the fender guard!
Thanks! Made it so simple to do on my 2014! Had to have my wife help though because my hands were a little too big since there’s a little less room on the ‘14 it seems like
thank you very much, today I was having issue to fit my hand inside and I decided to give up for a moment ,look for a video on youtube, and I am glad I found yours
Thanks so much for the video! Your photography was steady and showed very well the location and ease at which you can access the lighs. And even with your accent you are VERY easy to understand. Excellent video!!
Thanks for the video, came here after mistakenly replacing same high beam bulb twice thinking I am replacing the low bean. Thought there was something wrong with the wiring in my car after supposedly "changing" the low beam.
2017 Mazda 3 Asia (Steering on right side) Replaced my low beam bulb with Philips H11. You have to press the tab on the connector and pull it down. The connector will disengage. Then you have to twist the bulb to take it out. Took me 30 mins to figure this out but its written in the Mazda manual. Anyway for me for both passenger side and driver side, didnt need to do anything extra like removing air filter cover. Its challenging no doubt but doable. Thanks to this video for the short and sweet guide!
Mazda recommends that the driver side, low beam bulb be accessed by opening the inner fender well liner. If you're having problems reaching that bulb after removing the air filter cover, try the fender well.
I had more luck going in from the fender. Easier angle to press on the harness release and pull off. Also, I took off too many clips on the liner; only take off 3 or 4... just enough to get your hand behind it. (Same for the passenger side)
Just changed my low beams (mazda3 2014) Definitely gotta lift that air filter on driver side . Other than that easy procedure......the parking lights that's a lil challenge lol
Thanks bud, was wondering how to get my hands in there without unscrewing everything, really didnt think of the air filter cover top removal but when your swatting wasps while working on the car things change lol . thanks for the tips.
For awhile I was struggling to loosen the bulbs until I found out you have to disconnect both of them if you want them to come out. Easier if you connect the new ones in when your ready to put them back in
Great video, but do you turn the bulb clockwise or counterclockwise to remove from the housing? My friend’s is stuck and won’t go either way without force, and we don’t want to break it.
Depends on the year and which side but for 2018 Mazda 3 s you MUST disconnect the power first (tab in middle of housing) from driver side before rotating. Passenger I would advise the opposite because the power clips differently
Great video. My low beam bulb does not have a connector. The wires are glued on or something. Would’ve been an easy replacement but off to the dealership I go. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️$$$
It’s helps to unplug the cable from the lightbulb then twist it out. When installing twist in the new bulb and then plug it in. Trying to fight those cables can be such a pain
I tried removing the bulbs from the top first (on my '16), but found even with the air cleaner cover removed, I could not find a good angle to simultaneously push down on the harness release and back on the harness. (On MY car, clearance and wire length would not allow removal before unplugging.) Just removing 3 fender well clips left me enough room to get my hand in and both unplugging and removal of the bulb were way easier. [Marker lights, too... fender well is the only way to go.]
@@repaired2106 ok... it's really difficult to get the bulb to twist in order to take it out. Can you give me a tip to get it out. I've bought the replacement bulbs but cant put them in... ugh!
Man If you are reading comments I wanna say that it is way different from 2010 mazda3 anyway you can show us the same thing on 2010 mazda3? Much appreciated!!!
I really appreciate you shoving the camera into the place where you can actually see the light; so much better than the 3 other videos I just watched.

This simple no-nonsense video saved me two times already! Huge kudos, man!
Wish all instructional videos were this good
I had a head slapping moment when you pulled the air filter cover. What a simple but effective thing to do. Great video. Thanks
Thank you! I KNEW it wasn't that hard. Have done it on other vehicles. But Manual and Dealer said a dealer had to do it. You saved me $175 labor!
This is brilliant! So much better than the manufacturer's instructions. It took me only about 10 minutes to do both low beams. Thank you.

thank you very much, today I was having issue to fit my hand inside and I decided to give up for a moment ,look for a video on youtube, and I am glad I found yours
By far the easiest and most to the point video
Tip: The passenger side would NOT twist out for me until AFTER the cable was released from the back of the bulb.
This comment needs more emphasis. I was wondering why I couldn't twist it out.
Me too!
I was just trying to get it out I'll have to try this thanks just got pulled over with a warning
Eeek wife just told me one was out this am , guess I'm gonna have to change both! Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this tip!! Just changed mine and glad I saw your comment
thx for tip..the low beams are in hardest spot ive ever seen in cars ive had.
Exactly what I needed, quick and efficient. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the video! Your photography was steady and showed very well the location and ease at which you can access the lighs. And even with your accent you are VERY easy to understand. Excellent video!!
Was frankly expecting more work, but guess it's that easy. Thank you good sir
Thanks for the video, came here after mistakenly replacing same high beam bulb twice thinking I am replacing the low bean. Thought there was something wrong with the wiring in my car after supposedly "changing" the low beam.
i did the same thing lol
Thank you! Saved me labor costs, much appreciated! Great tutorial goes straight to the point.
Dude thanks, other videos show the removal of so many screws and bumper .
Jonathan Lopez cause this is an official way on how to do it :)
Going in through the wheel wells in some of them!
25 dollars on Amazon, 20 minutes of contortionism and a left hand full of scratches, but I did it. Thanks for the video and thanks for the tips guys!
Excellent. Straight to the point, made it very simple.

That helped!! Mazda had you getting it through the wheel well.
Thank you so much very well and quick explanation
This video was simple and straightforward. Thank you.
I was so mad at Mazda until I watched this video! Thank God because I was about to remove the entire headlight on the driver's side!!
Helpful video. One minor comment. This is for the 3rd generation car (2014-2018 Mazda 3).
I was not able to twist my light out... I have a 2014.
Muy bien explicado amigo, te entendí mas en ingles que otros videos en español, saludos desde Monterrey Mèxico
Simple, short, and precise. you are beautiful thank you sir!
Thank you. This is a straightforward video.
Поменяла лампочку благодаря вашему видео. Благодарю!! ❤

Made it much more clear where to actually look, thanks so much.
Thank you! Worked on my Mazda 3 2015
Very Helpful Thanks for such videos on internet🤙🏼👍🏻
Dude, so helpful. Wow. I'm about to do this myself. Simple procedure, but I've never done it before. Thank you so much.
Glad I could help!
This is the best video so far on the Mazda headlight.
Just a one question which way do I twist to pop out the socket?

Best video on the topic ty
Thx for the help!😌
Thank you for posting this!
Thanks!
Huge thanks 🫶🏼🤘🏻
Thanks a lot for the video, definitely helped me a lot. I have one question though: do I need to re-adjust the lights after I change the bulbs?
answering my own question in case somebody else is curious: NO, there is no need to re-aim the lights after changing the bulb.
Darth Ghitza Thanks for answering your question cause we actually did need the answer
Tawfiq Abdulsamad you’re welcomed
Thanks for this great video , perfectly explicated 💪😁
Great video. My low beam bulb does not have a connector. The wires are glued on or something. Would’ve been an easy replacement but off to the dealership I go. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️$$$
