Great videos Barry and nice driving; you look like you have done your advanced test? I'm picking up my 1.4 in a few weeks time. Have you modified yours in any way? Love the exhaust sound on your video testing the external mic.

      Thanks Geoff👍🏻.
Four decades ago I drove police cars for a living and for the final twenty-eight years of my working life I drove buses, but I have no formal qualifications apart from my DVLA licence.
My Caterham was built by a man in Surrey as a standard 1.4 K-series which would probably be enough, performance wise, for fun road driving. I didn’t realise that at the time and had Piper 270 camshafts, vernier pulleys and a mapped Emerald ECU fitted taking the standard flywheel power of 103bhp up to around 140bhp.
Sound wise, I’m looking for a balance between noise and convenience 🤔.
I have no doubt that you’ll enjoy your Caterham. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻.

@@BarryCatt Thanks Barry, do you honestly think the standard 1.4 will be fine. Its ony for B road fun now and again. I'm trying not to get hung up on 0 -60 etc

I’m not a track day demon - I’ve only done one and found that it wasn’t for me.
For me, the standard car would’ve been enough. Having said that, I still think about completing the upgrades with a 4:2:1 exhaust. Pointless though 🥴. The sensible thing to do would be to use the car in its standard form and decide if you need any more ooomph based on your own experience - we’re all different.
Maidstone Sports Cars upgraded my car and it runs like a dream. No lumpiness or reluctance to go at lower rpm. Upgrades are expensive though. Another thing to consider.
One more important consideration is maintenance. If, like me, you prefer to leave that to others, specialist garages with proven reputations are a must. I used local garages for a couple of years and found them lacking. Now I use Sevens and Classics at Brands Hatch.
I hope that I haven’t rambled on too much. Remember, others will have different opinions and are just as relevant as mine. 👍🏻

Hi Barry, presume its normal to get some noise from the transmission and diff etc in these with little soundproofing. Part of the experience I guess.

You own me the other 6 (roadtrips). Guess I’ll have to look around in your channel 😊

If you find them, let me know. Been very few appearing over the past couple of years 😉.
