During filming of that first season, they had no feedback from the public or a check in their pocket. Once the money came through, it’s the only thing that made enduring the public criticism worth it. No one in their right mind would allow their children to be exposed to constant vitriol, but it’s clear Kody had a dollar value that made it acceptable in his mind to do that to his children.

Prosecutors rarely go after these types of crimes, particularly if their statute lists any type of motive as an element of the crime. Proving motive on a years-old crime of this level is nearly impossible and it’s likely past the statute of limitations at this stage.

Robyn is loyal to Kody until there’s no benefit to be loyal.
I think Robyn wanted what she wanted and the two of them together don’t take issue with crossing a line by committing white collar crime to get what they want.
Meri has always seemed more careful. Christine always seemed trusting. And Janelle always seemed focused elsewhere and just “tell me where to sign.” The idea Kody orchestrated a majority of it and maybe let Robyn in on some of it isn’t far-fetched at all. That’s status quo in polygamy.
They commit crimes every single day they claimed to be polygamist. So, what’s a few more if it achieves their financial goals?
The reality is, there are people who respect and abide by the rule of law. Then there are these kinds of people who pretend to, who do what they want when no one’s watching. To be stupid enough to air it on national television is, however, rather novel of them. TLC generally likes picking people with a clouded moral compass for their more controversial shows.
I really wish they would take this show off the air and investigate Kody and Robin. From what Christine says, yes the money was lent to her to make down payment, but when she sold her house in Vegas , that money was paid back into the community pot.
That's what she said on the show, but after sitting on the market for nearly a year, the property taxes, HOA, utilities etc. to keep it up probably ate up most of the profit on her Vegas house.
