    Just want to say that Giannis has ALWAYS been really good at passing, and playmaking with great court vision at his size. He's improved at that just about every year, yes, but that's been a strength of his forever. It was moreso the willingness and trust. Sometimes he was forcing shots because he didn't want to let his fate be decided by his teammates scoring ability, Kobe/Shaq style I would say, but he's decided this year be more willing to trust and live with the results, and that's why his assist number went up. However, if you look and his pick and roll efficiency numbers, he always been basically number 1 in the league at the playtype, it's about how often they run it, and whether Giannis trusts his teammates to finish the plays he creates, but court vision hasn't truly been the issue 90% of the time. Also Giannis was actually efficient against the Celtics from the field, his free throw shooting, due to exhaustion, was what suffered, but he was still sble to score in the half court very often, to the point of multiple 40+ point games, and averaging 35+ with 7+ assists for the series.

    Lauri is in the mikal bridges exposure light. They are not number one options. Maybe best as number 3 on a championship team. Mobley and JJJ are DPOY type of guys. Siakam is proven plus more effective defensively. Paolo is the only one whos shown/proven to be a great potential number one option.

    I don’t think jt has cleared Luka or sga but for me it’s tough to make an argument that any1 of those guys clears the others. They’re equal to me.
    My most pro jt take is that he’ll go down as the greatest player of his generation (defined as draft classes 2012-2022). That includes giannis jokic Luka and ant. I believe that bc:
    1. He wins. I’d bet he wins significantly more titles than all these guys.
    2. Individually he’ll prob end his career top 3 in playoff wins points n rebounds. He’ll end top 10 in total points n rebs during the regular season szn also
    3. Luka ant giannis n jokic have zero chance of catching up to Tatum individual playoff totals. N jokic has zero shot of catching him in reg szn totals.
    Most of the argument hinges on winning but that’s why the game is played n he’s been the best player on all his ecf n finals teams

    • @AMINOMMA
      @AMINOMMA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my book Tatum's title is akin to the Durant titles in GSW and Tatum stands absolutely no chance of being the greatest of his generation. Tatum is too flawed an offensive player to ever be considered that (Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Embiid, SGA are all miles ahead), nor is he so great defensively (would have to be like KG levels) that he can make up for that (great defender tho, don't get me wrong) and he's genuinely had the best luck of any superstar (in terms of roster around him) that I've experienced since Kobe with Shaq and Kobe showed that he could do it without shaq after. Just look at how they're treating Tatum in the US team. You think Giannis, SGA, Luka or Jokic would ever not start if they were American? You think they wouldn't be considered the no. 1 options even with LeBron and Steph on the team? It really bugs me that people seem to attribute so much of the C's success to Tatum when it's Brad Stevens that won them a chip. Tatum doesn't have one skill that is truly generational, which is generally needed to be considered the greatest of your generation (in addition to being great at other things (Russell - defense, Kareem - Scoring, Magic/Bird - passing/playmaking, MJ - scoring, Kobe - scoring/Duncan - defense, LeBron - playmaking and scoring, Steph - shooting). Giannis, Luka and Jokic all possess generational skills on top of being great at most things and only having one or two weaknesses. Tatum is like a B+ at everything, which makes him great, just not close to the level needed to be considered the best of the generation

    • @taylor7264
      @taylor7264 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AMINOMMA to be clear i feel youre entitled to your own opinion but i think there are things youre missing so ill respond to each of your points:
      1. saying tatum has absolutely no chance is hyperbolic. this is not abt what these guys are now, its abt how they project and that leaves a ton of room for different possibilities. if i said some1 cant catch jt in some aspect of the game its bc they cant from an objective numerical perspective (barring career ending injuries and assuming guys stay somewhat close the pace they've exhibited to this point). you have to remember GREATEST is different than BEST. i wouldnt argue jt is best in the league rn but id bet he ends up greatest in his generation when they all retire.
      2. jt's title is nothing like kd's for two rzns. first bc he played w another top 10 greatest player of all time in steph. ik you wouldnt put jb in that category. secondly, we saw gsw win a ring and rack up 73 reg szn wins in 1 szn. the celtics have never been that successful w/o jt
      3. tatum isnt that flawed a player relative to the guys you mentioned. he may not have exhibited their level of dominance in a single area but his versatility closes the gap significantly. in the playoffs teams will sell out to take away what guys do well. bc tatum is so well rounded he can simply change his approach on either side of the ball to counter the oppositions scheme. that value is hard to quantify specifically but is key to WINNING esp in the post szn
      4. tatum rly hasnt had that much roster luck n i think thats a tired argument, let me explain...first of all every great player who has won a ring had a stacked team. if you dont hold it against bron n mj n magic n bird n steph n timmy n kobe then you cant hold it against jt. secondly, jt really hasnt had that much luck/been on stacked teams his whole career. these are all the starting 5s in his playoff career :
      -2018: rozier, smart, jb, jt, al (kyrie n gordon were hurt
      - 2019: kyrie, smart, hayward, jt, al (n kyrie quit on them n gordon was never the same cming off the injury)
      -2020: kemba, smart, jb, jt, theis (kemba's knees were galling apart)
      - 2021: smart, fournier, langford, jt, tristan thompson (jb n kemba were hurt)
      - 2022: smart, jb, jt, al, rob (rob n smart were hurt n missed games)
      - 2023: smart, jb, jt, al, rob (brogdon missed the ecf n jt hurt his ankle in game 7)
      - 2024: dwhite, jrue, jb, jt, kp (kp missed all but 4 games)
      not exactly the greatest luck. the diff between tatum n kobe is that tatum has clearly been the best player on ALL of his conference finals n finals teams.
      5. tatum was the 2nd leading scorer on the last olympic gold medal team so hes already stamped as a great team usa guy. this yr bron n steph are featured bc of their status in the league not where they are now...bc of that every1 but giannis n jokic would take a back seat on this olympic team. n im not arguing that jt is better than giannis n jok rn.
      6. brad is great but tatum's (n brown's) versatility makes it much easier for brad to put winning teams around him. his versatility is generational, he doesnt need to be the best in the league at a specific skill...the best rebounder in the league is usually not a generational player for instance. or take a guy like larry bird - he was NEVER the best passer/play maker in the league foh. he did everything at a high level n thats what made him special like tatum. bron too. he was never the best passer/play maker n we was never the best scorer in the league or defender. hes another one of these versatile guys
      i think we also have to remember tatum is 26 so while hes not as good as giannis or jokic rn he may reach that level one day. like the nerds said if tatum's shot falls like it did earlier in his career n he maintains the other parts of his game hes a top 3 guy easily - maybe best in the league esp as giannis n jokic age

Both Bron and Kd are way better offensive players, provide more for their team, are more impactful, and have a more difficult role on there team.

    I'm starting to get really annoyed by these LeBron longevity takes, how unprecedented it is. Yeah, it is mad that this guy is still a top 15 player in the league (by any estimation). However, when looking at other sports, we've seen this kind of unprecedented longevity suddenly pop up in many sports (Tennis - Djokovic at Wimbledon this year, Federer making a Wimbledon final at 38 and winning one at 37, Nadal winning two slams at 36. Football - Tom Brady. Soccer - Luka Modric still being one of the best midfielders in the world at 38. F1 - Alonso still being one of the best drivers at 42. I could find other examples) Don't get me wrong, what these guys are achieving is ridiculous but it cannot be a coincidence that we're seeing this all happen in this era. Don't forget that Bron spends a million dollars a year on his body. It's why his longevity gets overblown quite a bit imo.

    You read the stats. In no way is KD worse than Tatum. More versatile scorer and a better defender than LeBron at this point in LeBron's career too, though I get putting LeBron over him because of playmaking.
    If you put LeBron or KD on the Celtics, the Celtics are better than they are with Tatum. Tatum is painfully inconsistent. Sometimes he looks better than Giannis, others he settles for contested 3s and lays bricks. When you're talking about the best of the best, its the consistency that differentiates.

      @@samhorn3740 they had 4 shooters on the court at all times. not as good as 5 but spacing was good enough.
      just like the convo the nerds had abt lauri...you dont have to have the ball in your hands to be an offensive engine. tatum weaponizes his gravity to get his team great looks even when his shot isnt falling - thats on ball as a ball handler and screener, as well as off ball as a screener or cutter. Cs were 18 points per 100 possessions better when he was on the court in playoffs. thats no coincidence. jt is the better engine. brunson MIGHT be a better 1v1 scorer. two v different things
      n thats before we get to the defensive gap between them...
