I'm more surprised Colbert had him on than I am that he came. Of course The Mooch came, he can't become a celebrity if he doesn't get his face on TV while we all still know him. And I guess I can't fault Colbert for seeking the ratings bump, but he's not making real life feel any less like a reality tv show.
Meh on the first point, and absolutely no on the second. Hes a half rate spokesman. I resptect Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney for joining Democrats denouncing Jan. 6. I respect Sec. Buttigieg for going on Fox CONSTANTLY confronting conservative media intelligently and politely. I don't respect this goon who had a job for a week.
CJonesApple I agree, have to admit he was a good sport, and mildly entertaining. Most clowns are though, as long as they aren't the terrifying type. Trump on the other hand is both.
Stephen interrupted because Scaramucci knows to talk as a politician and was talking himself out of the questions. It might appear rude, but it really is just counter to political rhetoric. I dislike the booing as well, but I'm sure he was very well aware that it would happen and at least what was in the clip (there were obviously cuts) it was like 2 booings and one being interrupted by Stephen. It's stupid but it wasn't bad.
I don't like Scaramucci but I respect the balls it takes to get up in front of a bunch of people who clearly hate you/what you stand for, look them in the face, and try to communicate. It was awkward, the crowd was a little too rude to him, and there was that weird cut on the applause when he said he'd like Bannon out of office--something EVERYONE agrees with. As for Scaramuccis non-answers....they're as good as answers, really. Very telling.
If he had any real balls he would answer Stephen's questions instead of that "I can't comment on that" bullshit that's what the non answers are telling
Man... I love Stephen and hate Trump, but that fucking audience and their boos... Saramucci was willing to come on the show and the audience just boos him every chance they get. Honestly really disappointing.
yes it was hard for the Mooch, but hey he deserved it. One Colbert interview n he's back in Americans good graces, boos from the audience was a small price to pay.
Charlie Pekin Liberals just living in their echo chamber. This happened in previous talk shows during the election when conservatives came on. For being so tolerant, liberals sure are rude as fuck and quick to espouse their biased disapproval of those who share differing opinions. It's not like half of America voted for Trump or anything like that. Let's just act like 98% of the general public is against 2% of conservatives and boo them whenever they appear on a show. Then when they do appear and are open to questioning and debate, let's fuckin rail on him/her over the most innocuous things without any room for substantive response bcuz we interrupt every premise he/she tries to make.
Great they were booing. What do you expect common sense wise ? That although until a few weeks ago they were booing everytime the name the Mooch was mentioned (rightfully so) now they suddenly are supposed to cheer for him ? I think Stephen has no spine anymore for inviting Scaramucci at all in the first place - some people shouldn't be given the chance to turn themselves into "likeable" by an easy PR stunt like this.
colbert might be harsh but for a good reason.... terrorist attacks are called out so fast and trump will tweet about it asap but when it comes to white supremacist there seems to be a delay...double standards...u cant deny the facts.
Ok did he invite the guy to interrupt him and make fun of him? And frankly the crowd are grown ups, they should stop booing at whatever he says and listen to the opposite side. That's what politics are, after all.
Come on, Colbert. I love your show, but this was just rude. He came on the show and was trying to be friendly. He even poked fun at himself. Let him finish a sentence.
Ironically, the Mooch doesn't mind because Colbert actually caused a lot of people to sympathise with him through this interview. Just check out the comments saying either the exact thing you said, or calling Scaramucci an honest man. Its just another way of demonizing Trump and it is working wonders, haha!
That's how you got to be sometimes when you're a messenger to the nation. You have to be tough on the people who deserve a little rough treatment - Anyone defending Trumps administration SHOULD have to jump through hoops.
Why? That says more about you than anyone else. respect should always come from mutual sides in a discussion. any other way, you're either instigating or making yourself look bad.
Dr Jones totally agree. It's disappointing. He's sometimes combative like he never was on the Colbert Report. Maybe it's because he was always in character then. I don't know.
I think some of Stephen’s most hilarious monologues were from while Scaramucci was in the White House. Mad respect to him for coming onto the show, he’s got balls lol. He’s also hilarious and came off respectable in this interview
"Two days! Does he order his spine on Amazon Prime?!" Stephen, I love you. Your intellect is superb, you are as brilliant as it gets. Thank goodness you are on TV in these dark times.
Man I wish this interview had been tomorrow instead of yesterday. I'd have loved to hear Scaramucci try to defend the shit that came out of President Trump's mouth today.
@Tyrell Suraiya The Batman standalone film is going through some major changes right now, since Matt Reeves is now writing and directing it, so Deathstroke probably won't be the main villain, like he was in Ben Affleck's version of the film. He'd have been cool to see though, and maybe Reeves does keep him as the main villain.
I'm liberal but I have to say... The Mooch nailed this one. I can't say I like him as a person, he clearly sold out for Trump, but Mooch did a good job and seemed like an ok guy. He seems like a guy who saw a chance to get in on the action so he gave it a shot and got burned. He seems like a fun guy who is probably self centered and a jerk but still fun. Maybe he's just a good actor here, but if so he was still effective
He did good in the interview, but I feel so manipulated... he's probably more popular/better liked now than he was months ago, but nothing has really changed, has it? He's still in the Trump camp. N its not fair to win brownie points just for saying Nazi's are bad- that shit goes without saying.
9:02. Listen closely. Was that a deceptive edit for when the cheered him? As soon as the audience started cheering for the "guest" the clip goes right back to Colbert talking again
I hate trump. But I like this guy. I get he's a salesman, but he's smart and I think they needed him in the administration to handle communications work
I just don't get how he got the job? Seems like a decent enough guy, but just doesn't 'fit' with anything political. And surprised there's no gag order placed on him from doing talk shows and all? In one way it's good to see that kind of transparency, but at this stage of the game'....? I am truly baffled Captain.
It's because he's buddies with trump. trump "drained the swamp" only to put all his friends and family those positions. This is just more typical trump hipocracy.
And tomorrow morning, when one of the writers is 15 minutes late for work, every one in the office is going to start frantically texting their phone, while simultaneously eyeing their yogurt in the fridge that is just going to go to waste now, right? I mean.. Someone should eat it.. out of respect for the dead....
Lol! I absolutely loved when you could tell The Mooch was diggin' the crowd cheering for him to put it in the "Mooch" Zone! This interview made me respect him more than I did previously. Thanks Stephen, best of luck Mooch! :D
And here I thought this guy would stop idolizing Trump and spouting bs after how he was treated, smh no one seems to have dignity in the Trump Administration.
actually if he did that he would be a real piece of shit - when you say something, you stand by it. I think he did well... plus he knows it wasnt trump who fired him. Trump is a balloon of hot air, is not even (THE) president and he knows that, thats why he doesnt hold grudges... hey its just business.
Colbert critics going on like Scaramucci all victimized by interruptions. Did they not see the man's job at the White House? If you think Colbert is too harsh, then go back and review Mooch's previous job. Then watch this video again and tell yourself that Scaramucci couldn't get a word in. When Colbert has to put up with a stupid joke about killing his staff, he has to dig into the interview while keeping things steady because Scaramucci started out completely inappropriate.
I would also like to add that the recent White House incident that took place a mere two days before this interview was when Trump didn't condemn the Nazis. The wound was still fresh, so the Mooch is on shaky ground here
Stephen, I am a huge fan and watch all your video's on youtube because I'm from Europe. But could you please let the guy speak without interrupting him constantly? I am on the same page with you regarding feelings about the White House but you've got to admit: It took a lot of guts from this guy to come up on your show with all the comedy that had been made but he came. We have to give him credit for that.. Greetings from Europe!
I can imagine its hard to find a balance between being a good host and welcome your guests and dare to ask the critical questions. Stephen is not backing down from that, thats a good thing in my opinion. But it's annoying to watch the interview when 'The Mooch' is not getting the oppertunity to answer. But non the less: it was an interesting interview and vibe between these two. I cant help wondering: how akward was it for Stephen to meet the guy who gave him so many comedy oppertunities in the show :))
This was one of the better interviews Colbert has done in months. I watch most nights and record the nights I cant. It was good to see him keep mooch on the back foot, good to see mooch can laugh at himself too.
This wasn't a hostile or personal argument in any way. Notice how all you Republicans in the comments have to twist to truth to make an argument against Colbert. "He keeps interrupting him! He keeps telling the audience to attack him!" You realize that you're lying about a video we have RIGHT HERE, right? It's not like on Fox news where you can lie and nobody bothers to check because it's too much trouble. We can see the whole thing right here.
John Startop That's no excuse for Colbert being a poor host. 5:07 is a good example, among many others, where he cuts Mooch off while he's talking. Politics or no politics, Colbert is a rude host in this case.
Except you know exactly where he's going with that. He's avoiding questions and there's limited time. And if you wanna get analytical as if you're so psych expert, after Colbert interrupted and he gave his actual answer, he never went back to what he was saying, so it's clearly unimportant bullshit to him too. If Colbert weren't there to guide him, we couldn't have gotten legit Mooch answers.
3:35 Mooch is talking and Colbert says "Who cares?" in the middle of his sentence. No matter what people talk about on a talk show whether it be politics or an upcoming movie, treating a guest like this is not acceptable. Fallon interrupts his guests like this as well, just not as harshly as this. I'm no psyche expert, I just want to see a fair, respectable convo between these two men.
Wanna here something that's super UNfair of me to say, but 100% accurate? You came to this video with the attitude of, "Another talk show host inviting someone from my political ideology to roast again," and then when it's actually fair, you grasp at straws. Wanna say I'm wrong? "Who cares?" You know inside I'm not.
I gotta give credit where it's due - The Mooch is definitely a man with a sack and a spine - it must have been difficult to take that interview and do it with good humor. That's some bravery! (I'm sure the billions in the bank helps)
I am legitimately surprised at the amount of hate Steven got in this interview. I thought it went really well for both of them; Steven hit hard, and Scaramucci responded well. Granted, I think the responses were kind of weak, which Steven rightfully pressed him on, but I don't think it went badly at all. Hats off to both parties here.
Scaramucci: *begins the entire interview with a joke about putting Colbert's writers on a kill list, beginning the conversation in bad faith* Some People: But why was Colbert rude!?
More like Begins the entire interview with a joke referencing the several jokes Convert had made about him mocking his Italian heritage and mannerisms by comparing him to a Mafia hitman. You can't call a guy a Mafia hitman who front stabs people to death then whine qhen2 he makes a joke about stabbing people lol.
@@mercergarnett Except when Colbert made those jokes, it sounded like jokes. Mooch's delivery made it sound like he was being at least half serious. I don't believe in racial slurs and stereotyping (and I'm not a white American either) but there's a difference. Mooch was very much keeping up the stereotype of hardass, hot-blooded Italians during his time in the WH. He may or may not have changed after that and learnt his lessons, but before all this he was being a very typical Italo-American dude
can we just take a moment and appreciate the fact that the band played Bohemian Rapsody to welcome the Mooch hahaha
Easy come easy go
Scaramooch, scaramooch, scaramooch, can you do the fandango 👌
Omg they played Bohemian Rhapsody when he walked out.
SCARAMOOCH SCARAMOOCH 😂
Amazing work 10/10
And "Backstabbers" before he introduced the Mooch.
Sahar H hehehee
He did MORE than the Fandango.
Om Wind lmao
I applaud the Mooch for having the balls to go on knowing they'd boo him every 10 seconds.
He really came
I thought he said he couldn't reach?
EvelynLove Fosu-Duah I did not expect him to I tell ya
Hes got nothing to lose lol but yeh it was pretty damn cool of him to agree to come on the show
I'm more surprised Colbert had him on than I am that he came. Of course The Mooch came, he can't become a celebrity if he doesn't get his face on TV while we all still know him. And I guess I can't fault Colbert for seeking the ratings bump, but he's not making real life feel any less like a reality tv show.
Cash is King Let it go, we don't know who you are but now we know what you are loser. rofl
I think scaramucci actually handled himself pretty well and I think we should respect that he actually came on this show.

tyler
I get a very big Wolf of Wall Street vibe off him.
That's because that's exactly what he is.
And people love that film. It's sickening.
Theblue Toother Erm I love it. It's a Martin Scorsese/Leonardo DiCaprio film. What's not to love?
That's spot on, for weeks I've been trying to think of who that guy reminds me of. That guy is Jordan Belfort
Batman Jr. I get the vibe that you're mucci jr
Kudos to The Mooch. He went in there fully knowing and gave a proper interview, and in turn was given one by Colbert.
CJonesApple
I agree, have to admit he was a good sport, and mildly entertaining. Most clowns are though, as long as they aren't the terrifying type. Trump on the other hand is both.
CJonesApple Hardly, he was interrupted by Stephen hundreds of times, and berated by the audiences boo's during the entire 'interview'.
well, looks like he thought he could bullshit his way out of it to come out on top.
They booed the Trump is compassionate line but other than that they were saying "Mooch"
Stephen interrupted because Scaramucci knows to talk as a politician and was talking himself out of the questions. It might appear rude, but it really is just counter to political rhetoric.

Scaramucci did the Fandango straight out of the White House.
Br L The Mooch screwed the Pooch!
He did so to the sound of thunderbolts and lightning. It was very, very, frightening to me.
Holy shit the Mooch has a lot more dignity and tolerance than I expected even took the booing like a man damn lol
Jon Baptiste is a low key genious. He did the fucking fandango. Amazing
Not enough people pay attention to the musical choices Jon throws in. His musical jokes are often extremely subtle.
I was already hoping The Mooch would go along and start doing his GALILEO GALILEO
Michael 마익흘 Aronson - I think I also heard a couple of bars of Mac the Knife as well. Brilliant stuff!
Pedro tbh
If that's the bar for being a genius...
"Did he order his spine on Amazon Prime" best damn line ever.

Hex Isme you hit the nail on the head perfectly
If he had any real balls he would answer Stephen's questions instead of that "I can't comment on that" bullshit that's what the non answers are telling
MrElionor He likely wants a career still. So those were the answers he could afford to give.
FeelMyPuddle
My point still stands
Double Dong Its not a news show it's a comedy show..
He was never going to get an inside look
I was wondering why whenever I hear Scaramucci I have an urgency to say scaramucci scaramucci. Finally understood that it is from Bohemian Rhapsody.
I thought it was gonna be an actor pretending to be the scaramucci
Everyone was expecting that but no he really went all in and got the bastard on the show
Thanks for having him on
Man... I love Stephen and hate Trump, but that fucking audience and their boos... Saramucci was willing to come on the show and the audience just boos him every chance they get. Honestly really disappointing.

The Mooch would make a great joker, look at that smile
Gotta respect someone who's willing to talk
If Scaramucci wants to go to the movies, will he buy the tickets at the door? Or will he do the Fandango?
Luke Shoewalker HA
beat me to it.
damn you.
Luke Shoewalker bob Mueller indicting very very frightening
He will only do the Fandango to see Mama Mia.

Rather have Mooch as President over Trump. Any. Day. Of. The. Week.
Ashley Login
I would rather have anyone as President than DJT. #Missing44
So if Trump actually succeeds during his presidency, you still would rather have someone else as president?
+ W B even corrupt criminals?
Yep, without question.
Commendable, Mooch. Way to stay solid.
Wow, way to go colbert!!
holy shit how did they get him to come on the show

Well done, that took me a couple of seconds.

Took me a minute
5:34, thought that would be a line reserved for Paul Ryan.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL NIGHT FOR THIS OMG ILY STEPHEN
Edit: This is epic. You go Stephen 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Dorothy Ueno 4AM heck yeah
I've been waiting all day too haha
Same. Until tonight I haven't watched him on TV since December 2015
A Lynch i didn't think he would actually come on the show!

I've waited for this all week!!
Stephen Colbert can be a great moderator in the next presidential debate. He's great at calling out bullshit.
Man I wish this interview had been tomorrow instead of yesterday. I'd have loved to hear Scaramucci try to defend the shit that came out of President Trump's mouth today.

U confused me
"Does he order his spine on Amazon prime?" Hahahaha!!!!
Wtf?! This guy is actually tolerable, dare I say entertaining to watch?! Color me surprised
Lp Alcantara He was always entertaining to watch.
well, all snake oil salesmen--my first impression of the guy--can be persuasive sometimes
It seems the Mooch can act as well
Yeah, he is pretty funny. There was no reason for him to be boo'd so much.
He's a delightful scumbag.
This is one of the hardest hitting interviews I've seen out of Colbert. Bravo.
He would be a perfect Joker in a new Batman movie.
Instead he ended up being a joke in the Merca Movie.
he even has the smile for it lol
Holy shit, so I'm not the only one who saw that. The smile he has at 0:37 from the side looks totally Joker-ish.
@Tyrell Suraiya The Batman standalone film is going through some major changes right now, since Matt Reeves is now writing and directing it, so Deathstroke probably won't be the main villain, like he was in Ben Affleck's version of the film. Two Face would fit better.
The audience should've been more respecting , after all he came to this show knowing that's he's been hated.
A hands down , win for the Mooch.

Wrong, BitchtrainerTai! Kasich will be a formidable candidate if he pursues next election! ... He also is quite an impressive statesman and leader!
Are you serious - Kasich? What planet are you from. I'm from Ohio and we'd love to send him into space!
I mean... he did miss the birth of his child just so he could chill with Trump. Not _really_ my definition of an OK guy.
9:02. Listen closely. Was that a deceptive edit for when the cheered him? As soon as the audience started cheering for the "guest" the clip goes right back to Colbert talking again
he said he would fire Steve Bannon, and they started cheering? Lol
@@zafran20 I doubt it because the spirit of the show would support that.
I actually physically attended the taping of this episode and they have cut out many instances of boos too
"DOES HE ORDER HIS SPINE ON AMAZON PRIME?" I LOVE THIS MAN!!!!!!! REALEST DUDE ON TV!
I hate trump. But I like this guy. I get he's a salesman, but he's smart and I think they needed him in the administration to handle communications work
and your dumb enough to believe his horse shit?!
Will Taylor 😂 Smart? Did you see the BBC interview with Emily Maitlis? 😂😂😂 The smartest thing this guy could do is not speak. He's an embarrassment.
Congrats on being sold a narrative by two salesmen.
Honestly, Scaramucci's jokes with the kill list, and the 'boos' being 'moos' was freaking hilarious
AND STEVE BANNON IS OUT. LMAO.
He doesn't seem like the worst person in the world... I guess working for trump brings out the worst of people.
Dank Memer yea
i94Rules the dude wants to start nuclear war why the fuck would you take a chance with that
Dank- Indubitably! Look at what it did to Kellyanne Conway!
i94- "... a chance"? ... to do what? ... Look at what he has 'done' ... Nonstop! ... and without even an "OOPS"!
Naturally, people are more comfortable when they are incapable of handling real world issues and are relieved of their post as a result.
Stephen did a great job of keeping control at all times, didn't let Mooch run away with it and kept the audience in line as well.
Class interview.

This was one of the better interviews Colbert has done in months. I watch most nights and record the nights I cant. It was good to see him keep mooch on the back foot, good to see mooch can laugh at himself too.
That was awkward.
George EX like Trump's presidency
George EX yea Colbert was trying to be to funny I wish he would have interviewed him for real to spread light on Trumps White House.
+Samuel Smith
You're dumber than the Mooch.
Omg, they played the "Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango" part from Queens Bohemian Rhapsody when he entered 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hats off to both parties here.
best interview I've seen on tv. held his feet to the fire.
Scaramucci had the balls to go on the Late Show and basically walk into a battleground. Let him fucking speak.
The soundtrack for the entrance of the Mooch 😂😂
😂😂😂
"Does he order his spine on Amazon prime" 😂😂😂 Too bad they don't make spines for snakes.
I'd appreciate Stephen if you'd let the Mooch finish a sentence uninterrupted.Still a fan.
The Moooch!
My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed, I never knew they worked.
Meyers did the same Amazon joke. It's one day in the uk.
They have same day shipping in the US as well. www.amazon.com/Prime-FREE-Same-Day-Delivery/b?node=8729023011
ispearedbritney Same day is amazing. The fact that it's no extra charge is awesome.
Omg Stephen stop interrupting him!
he ordered his spine on amazon prime? LOL i died
MOOOOOOOCH!
For some reason when reading the title I thought it said Anthony Scaramucci would five star bannon
STEPHEN COLBERT YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! You always know exactly what to say.
Oh Mooch, what could have been, what sweet press conferences that never were. Only in my heart they persist.
Man, Stephen doesnt pull any punches. He really goes in for that, front stab.
"gimme some mooch"
*crowd mooches*
*mooch becomes mooch*
well played, Mooch.
the mooooooch
The mooch is loose!
Does he order his spine on Amazon Prime? Bars.
Scaramucci: *begins the entire interview with a joke about putting Colbert's writers on a kill list, beginning the conversation in bad faith*
Some People: But why was Colbert rude!?
More like
Begins the entire interview with a joke referencing the several jokes Convert had made about him mocking his Italian heritage and mannerisms by comparing him to a Mafia hitman.
Colbert came across worse then Scaramucci
He is too easy to manipulate...call him the mooch and he'll say anything.
0:35 Bohemian Rhapsody
Vinit Doke Pardon my ignorance, what is the significance of playing it.
Baltazar Resendez I don't know. Just noticed it.
It's the part where they sing "Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?"
Ruxandra Duca Oh yeah right
Scaramucci is similar to scaramouche, a lyric from Bohemian Rhapsody.
