Ban! Censor! Demonetize! How ironic that the very people who grew up listening to "A Day in the Life" are now running TH-cam.

I've had a few channels shut down just as they were growing. Shadowbanned on Twitter. My phone isn't even allowed to log on to Instagram. Kicked off FB.
Most recently one of my political channels had a video removed for "hate speech". It was an anti war video about the Dow Chemical company and Vietnam. Lol
The only "speech" in it was interviews from Dow CEOs themselves.
Too much truth revealed, I suppose.
      *shrugs

The Beatles were an inspiration in my art. They helped my art go beyond my imagination, as well as one of my brothers, who was a great artist. Of course their music took my friend and I to another dimension.

The musicality of A Day In The Life was what made me want to learn piano and sing publicly. It also inspired me to want to learn studio technology. The Beatles pushed the techniques in an analogue studio to its limits and then some.

Hey everybody! I was greatly influenced by the Beatles. They inspired me to create my own music. One day I was laying around and a random beatles song started playing in my head so I searched up the song, “Tell Me Why” and I began to learn the guitar. It’s quite a weird story.

I just came across your channel. Thank you. Thank you for putting these together and giving us these important stories. I'm a bit younger but I grew up with pink floyd and the beatles from my parents and my uncle and thus wasnt corrupted by the horrendous noise coming out of the radio today. And I love watching these and hearing the stories behind the albums I grew up listening to. And now try to play on my stratocaster made to look like gilmour's and my gretch because that's what george used. Its incredible how bands that started 60 years ago are still inspiring people today

Easily the greatest song of all time. With context it makes it even better. Even bands today haven’t gone past it in terms of being a head of there time.
Also did you ask them before doing the video? Maybe that’s why it gets blocked?

anyone who thinks ringo is a bad drummer is just showing their ignorance to everyone. its as you said, Ringo was a genius and knew exactly what their songs needed. The songs would not have been better if he was doing wild syncopation and fills every bar. They'd of been much much worse. He understood his role in the band like a master, and did everything to support the song, and didn't let his ego take control. Some music does work with crazy syncopation and fills every bar, but the Beatles were not one of those. So there's all that, and also the fact that Ringo could hold time like nobodies business.

I love the Day in Life song it was a work of genius and thankyou for praising Ringo and those words you say about him is the absolute truth a very much underated drummer. The guitar chords are simple whereas everything else on it is complicated and works of genius. I used to play and sing that on guitar when I could do it.

    Hello HollyHobs!
Cannonball Express is a great little tune, and draws you in with the word imagery. I can hear The Beatles influence all over it, but it could also be a nice ELO tune.
However, the group of which it really reminds me, is Klaatu. They loved word imagery. You should probably one day do an episode about Klaatu. If you've never heard them, you need to do yourself a favor and check out their music. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. And the backstory that was given them by a DJ.
Great videos. I absolutely enjoy them! Thank you!

1.) I was 13 when I first heard this song in 1971. I was wowed by the music, then the somber nature of the lyrics. At no point did I think of drugs.
2.) If you want an in-depth account of the realization of "A Day in the Life", read recording engineer Geoff Emerick's book "Here, There & Everywhere"; he describes the session where John sat on a stool with a guitar and played it for the first time for everyone there, how when he finished everybody's jaw was on the ground.
3.) I love your song! It's an homage for sure, but you put your own stamp on it vocally, as you have a real gift there. It is nice to hear good-natured, un-cynical music these days; you might meet a John Lennon-type to balance that out, who knows. Certainly not Tomorrow.

John Lennon's sarcasm on this song, that of "laughing at others misfortune, over the death of a man who made the grade..." irony turned against himself
He fought the INS for years to get US residence!!! And when it was granted to him, moved to NYC, he had made the grade!! and celebrated his victory...when a David Chapman came to ask for an autograph, then this chap's mind changed, but Lennon "did not notice that the lights had changed"!!!
Chapman shot him on the spot. Poor John, he couldn't laugh that time

@@eleven9286 I was thinking the same thing. You can hear some nice stuff in there. I wish he would put it into his own sound instead of a Beatles to the n'th power song.

I like it. Very '60s, which is good.

It’s like if the Beatles tried to parody themselves

To me it sounded like a bowie song

Your song is very Beatles/ELO esque. I like it. So much better than a lot of the stuff out there today.

ELO, that was the part is what I couldn't put my finger on. Thanks.

Yes. Vocal harmonies are very ELO (that’s a compliment btw).Leaps and bounds above today’s nonsense. As a musician/producer, my little bit of constructive criticism is the crash cymbal playing constantly throughout. Otherwise 👍

It was banned by the bbc but back then in London at least, we used to listen to the pirate ship 'Radio London' (aka 'Big L'), they played it without interruption, both sides. I can clearly remember hearing it, and as a 14 y/o was stunned, and still feel the same 52 years later

Did you also listen to Radio Caroline? I'm from the US but have seen videos about that station and istened to some airchecks from its heyday. Radio Luxembourg broadcast to the UK, too.
