I’m choosing to pause the video and write this comment because you mentioning how the pressure of deciding one passion/interest/life path has you feeling like you’re floating REALLY REALLY got to me. I’m currently taking a break from my job and have been dealing with severe burnout and depression. Most days I’m torn between all these options and interests in front of me. We live in a society that constantly tells us that choosing one career will help you be successful; but it’s taken so much energy (and countless hours of therapy hah) for me to say that I don’t need to choose and my definition of success CAN BE DIFFERENT. I’m so happy to have you back on this tiny corner of the internet ❤

Oh Nina! I feel like there is not a single writer in the world who would dare to say that writing is easy for them. I struggle with this too, the desire to write is so strong but when I sit down and open my laptop... the feeling that floods my chest is everything but pleasant. I try to push through and not get too frustrated with myself, I fight my perfectionism by alternating my first language and English depending on what feels right at the moment. I can always go back and translate the passages or words back to the target language. This just helps me get rid of the initial writer's block which keeps coming back tirelessly every time I decide to write haha Keep up the good work, can't wait to read something from you soon!

Not leading with fear! I have a tendency to hold back based on what could go wrong. I went on my first hike yesterday and felt so much excitement. I sooo recommend daily rituals women at work (especially the audiobook!) for wondering if something hard that you’re drawn to is worth doing. Because it goes through the routines of women artists and their relationship to their work and it reframed my asking this question too! Hi Nina, I would recommend looking into Barbara Sher, her book called Refuse to Choose explains people described as scanners who have so many interests and the reasoning behind how this subgroup struggles picking only one thing. Realised I was a scanner and society is not set up for us and makes us feel bad for not choosing one thing. You may also be one if you read into it!

Lovely Video Nina. Last segment of the video reminded me how freeing it was to read daily rituals of famous creatives. The book is called ‘Daily Rituals’, by Mason Curey. So liberating to know these big painters and writers and all sorts of creatives were struggling with getting themselves to a balance everyday and each found things that worked for them. And some things are super bizzare 😅

If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life - but what I will call the artistic life - if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.”
