Hi Brett, good job there mate a great contender for the screwdriver challenge. I've watched a few of my you tubers doing this , Reggy on the road, Rob of Weekend Shed Head...Cheers, and John Scoutcrafter all good home made screwdrivers. Have fun Take care🪛👍
Fantastic, I think there is a process of hardening and softening metal or possibly keeping a hard bit of steel and not softening it whilst working it. There must be a way of hardening that tip someway. Somehow I love the end shape of the screwdriver
Thanks Reggy, I thought the whole hardening thing might be a little beyond my skill set mate. Saw your big handled screwdriver by the way, that was quite a weapon.
If you were to quench harden and then temper the business end of it, you could use it. That would be pretty cool, actually. A screwdriver that used to be a screw.
Hello Mate...... Im no metallurgist but I have previously heated red hot with a blow lamp and then dropped in an oil bath......this not only blues the metal but it does harden it somewhat. ....good go buddy!
I’ve never done it before, but I feel I need to give it a go on this screwdriver I’ve made, especially after all the comments suggesting it. I’ll slip it in to a future video at some point. Thanks for watching mate, your comments are truly appreciated.
Nice, you might want to look into hardening and temper your screw driver. It's probably a low carbon steel, so you would need to case-harden it with a source of carbon such as powdered charcoal, sodium carbonate etc. There are some good how-to's on YT.
Great stuff mate.. superb upcycle screwdriver and perfect for hanging 👌👍 cheers Rob
Nice one for me that one, I’m glad I got involved. CHEERS 🥃
Outstanding job! What a fantastic job you did on that grind…. Looks amazing. Thanks!!! 😃👍
Thanks for watching mate, appreciate the comment.
Glad to be a part of this challenge, and I look forward to the next one.

At least the original screw has a new life now, better than being buried on a building site forever. Cheers Shaun

Yes! I was hoping you would make something for the challenge, I thought this would be right up your ally! Nice job Buddy!
Nice little challenge this one. Cheers pal.
Reminds me of prison, prisoner will.make screwdrivers out of anything they can get hold of so they can take things apart to hide contraband inside.
No there’s something I never new, but it makes sense. I bet some of them were better than mine
