My favorite character is Anne Boonchuy💙, she grew up so much in Amphibia.
About the Number 1: I think it’s more like “a new body for the same soul”, like the ending of Big Hero 6, where Baymax original body is left behind in the other dimension, while his motherchip (aka his soul) survived so Hiro could build a new body for him.
After all, the entity didn’t clarified what they meant for “copy”

Justin Felbinger's performance, especially in The Hardest Thing, was enough to break all our hearts. The raw emotion and love he put into every line of Sprig was just so affecting! BRAVO!

For me, the Marcy being possessed by The Core was the darkest scene of all the series. True Colors was a mix of dark + sadness, and The Hardest Thing was mostly sad. But aside from that, I was shocked that True Colors was the only episode with a warning. Olivia & Yunan episode was far more traumatic in my opinion.

Well, there is a reason why for True Colors. When the episode was first going to premiere, Disney postponed the episode to change the ending, but Apple accidentally premiered the episode on the App store. Apple got rid of the episode but it was too late as the video was on TH-cam. The creator of Amphibia warned fans not to watch it before the Disney Channel, and premiered it on Disney Channel completely unedited, except added a disclaimer and teaser for season 3.

So here’s a few facts that make #3 and #2 darker.
For number 3, the reason why true colors was delayed was because Disney had them add in the ending showing marcy was alive, we were supposed to think Marcy was dead until we saw her again in season 3
And for number 2, the possession scene was cut down by almost half a minute, marcy was supposed to mentally fight against the core instead of being immediately possessed, but Disney decided it was too dark and had the scene shortened

unrelated but similarly in King's Tide from TOH, King had 2 choices, King had 2 choices. One would kill everyone, the other would unleash an uncontrollable all powerful being.
Marcy's screams will never fail to hurt me. Right when I thought I was getting my favorite character back they do this.
Marcy getting stabbed and later possessed messed me up the most. Since she's my favorite character so I wasn't the same for months after "True Colors". But I'm glad she's fine and doing happy right now. But seeing that happen to the sweetest and most relatable character on this show is heartbreaking.
I remember my sister was watching it with me and when the warning came on I was saying “Come on it’s just a kids show it can’t be that bad” and my sister thought otherwise and well she was right and Marcy was my fav too MarMar squad!

In all honesty, I was shocked that Marcy getting stabbed was only at #3. True Colors was the only episode with a content warning before it aired, so I thought that would be enough to boost it to the top. Also, you should do a Top 10 Darkest Owl House Moments! I know we're still waiting for season 3, but I feel like there's enough to make a list for it.
I think they should wait instead. From what we know, Dana Terrace isn’t a fan of story with “Happily Ever After” ending, so I think someone we know and love might “kick the bucket” (I’m worried for King and Hooty)

After all, it was a heavy plot episode, because it’s the moment where everyone begins to play with unfold cards (by the way, Anne sucks at playing Among Us😂), and the show begins to use tropes and moments that can only be seen by watching anime.
That's one reason why Disney went a bit too far and they should air it during Toonami.

Darcy's creation is definitely the darkest scene of the show and honestly one of the worst things I've ever seen (I mean that as a compliment). I mean, you guys said it best: it's a fate worse than death. Anne dying was beautiful and crushing, but Marcy getting her consciousness overwritten was just awful on a whole other level. The fact that she orchestrated the events that put her in that position makes it even worse. She did everything an isekai protagonist is "supposed" to do and was rewarded in the worst possible way. 10/10 scene without a doubt
Something about Marcy getting possessed will always make it #1 for me. It was genuinely terrifying and I did not see it coming. Even with everything else that happens before it or after it, it will always be the darkest scene imo.
And it didn't get even a content warning message like true colors did.
I got Star Wars 3 flashbacks with the helmet lowering on Anakin…and Alien Encounter (an extinct Disney attraction) with the restraints lowering on your shoulders.
I relate to Anne a lot in terms of her casual attitude and how she'd always let people walk all over her, but my favorite has to be Marcy. Her dorkiness, clumsiness and hyperfocus have made her into our little adorkable nerd who we want to protect.

My favorite Amphibia character is and always will be Marcy! Being the most tragic human character from the show, I connected to her the most and felt sorry for her. Aside from that, Marcy’s intelligence, cuteness, clumsiness, and love for anime is why I love her so much.😄
And even with godlike powers, SOMEHOW she manages to trip in the vacuum of space because of a floating pebble😂😂
Anyway, that girl is everything I want to be

@@leonishikino6873 She’s a tragic heroine, since despite being on the good side, she has one or more flaws that lead her to her downfall, no matter how much she tries to reach her goal.
In Marcy’s case, her biggest flaw is her fear of being left alone and lose her dearest friends in the process, which yes, it’s selfish but also sympathetic. Keep in mind she’s also 13 years old. For all intentions and purposes, she’s still a kid

-BIG SPOILERS FOR TRUE COLORS-
Man, the whole scene where Andrias let Sprig fall to his death, and what followed after, was THE darkest moment for me.
Sprig's Fall, the Plantar's despair in their faces, and Anne being in absolute shock, inmediately followed by the most heart wrenching flashbacks moments ever, were absolutely painful, but hearing Sprig's "You're a Hero, an ugly ugly ugly hero!" moment broke me to tears, just to proceed to yell as a little boy with Anne's "give him back" moment and what followed after! A roller-coaster of emotions, that I haven't felt in a big big time.
Matt Braly, I love you so much ! Thanks, for Amphibia, and the love you gave us these last years !
To make it more heartbreaking is that she isn't saying "give it back" but specifically "give him back".
Animes do flashbacks of characters who die all the time. A lot of time we forget those moments they had throught the time they were on the show and it breaks through your emothions to get those tears flowing. I think Amphibia was one of the few shows i found that I really enjoyed in a long time. it really showed the reality of friendships and sometime what happens to them in time.
Seeing two of your best friends; getting stabbed in front of your very eyes and the other says “you’re better off without me” is heartbreaking
This show was such a wonderful emotional rollercoaster thank you amphibia for everything you've gone but will stay forever in our hearts

Legendary Amphibia creator Matt Braly is said to be a big fan of horror films. Makes sense given some of these dark scenes. Amphibia is an amazing show

My favorite Amphibia character is Darcy. Great villain, I love how they can go from funny to horrifying so fast.
I know it was overshadowed by the stabbing, but I was really expecting Andrias' attempted murder of Sprig to get a high spot. It was one of the most purely sadistic acts I've ever seen in a cartoon. Dude really went "I will now attempt to murder a child" and did it like three times in ten minutes.
I knew Anne's death was the darkest, but the part when she and Sprig hugged and cried at the end of an episode in season 2 was left out.
I find it more sad but I’m glad Anne was revived in the end.

Also just a reminder that Marcy's "death" in s2 caused some issues at Disney. The s2 finale was postponed for a few days and Disney played with possibly censoring the scene (not showing the sword through her chest and only showing the light of the sword's flames, there are a few concepts of this online). Afterwards, Disney finally agreed to show it if they put a disclaimer at the beginning of the episode that some scenes had disturbing content. The fact that this disclaimer wasn't used for any other episodes throughout the rest of the show is pretty telling of how big of a deal True Colours was at the time.
They didn’t even show the disclaimer dyring "Olivia and Yunan" (when Darcy is created), "All In" (dismemberment, death, loss of hope), and "The Hardest Thing" (war, death, trauma, existentialism).

I screamed my head off when I saw Grime get his arm chopped off! Not counting when Tiger Claw's hand got chopped off in TMNT 2012, I don’t think I’ve seen that in a kids cartoon when someone becomes an amputee
Finn the human’s arm turned into grass and Della Duck cut her leg offscreen! This was just 😱😱😱😱😱😱

When I first started watching Amphibia, it just seemed like a cute little kids show about frogs... Then fast forward to me sitting watching the last episode as it aired, I was crying for the whole episode, I ended up crying for a whole hour straight after it, I cried so hard I nearly threw up, I calmed down and then I cried for another half hour, then I watched it again and cried more. I was not ready for how upsetting this show would would be, but I'm DEFINIETLY not disappointed. Some of the characters were extremely relatable... When I watched Marcy's flashback of the sleepover... Where her friends did not care for her intrests... That hit a little too close to home. When she was in The Cores mind scape and there were the copies of Anne and Sasha, her realising that the real versions of her friends would not want what she wants was so painful to watch, knowing that my friends are like that too... In the beginning of the end when Sasha and Anne find out how Marcy felt with the whole "Your friend? Don't be silly. You're not friends. Not anymore. And examining Marcy's memories, it's doubtful you ever were." Line... That shook me to the core. The writers did such an amzing job at showing each characters emotions, making them feel so real. I thank everybody who worked on this show, it has to be one of my all time favourites.
I am beyond happy that one of my favorite animated series of all time finally got the spotlight it deserved on this channel. And all it took was for it to end...
From all the cartoon shows I've watched, there's no greater friendship than the one between Anne and Sprig. Those two will always be my favorite characters of all time.

We all loved her. Which made it hard to watch when she actually died. For the first time in Disney history, no protagonist died onscreen till Anne Boonchuy faded right in front of the entire world audience.
And then she gets resurrected as a cloned body with the soul of the original. It hurts knowing this. At least we know she’ll also become the God of the Disney Multiverse when she dies again at the age of 91.

Besides it was never said that she would die at 91, that she will become the guardians at 91 yes, but not that she will die at that age. At least that's what I think, it's a possibility.
@@multiverse_media2023 So in a way the new Anne is more powerful than the original, the real bittersweet ending was the girls saying their goodbyes for the very last time.
I love Anne too. And although it was sad to see her nearly die, I’m glad the Guardian revived her by putting her soul in a backup body through limbo. Anne and the entire show will forever hold a place in my heart. ❤️

I'd thought that the start of Hop Pop's nightmare and the rest of Anne's nightmare would've at least made it to the honorable mentions
The only thing that I stressed over more than the dark outcomes was the possibility that this show's execution would fall as flat as many others did back in 2019, the failings of which shattered my faith in shows altogether until this one's finale restored it.
It was so bad for me I had several Hunter-esque panic attacks before the finale aired.
I loved Amphibia I’m really sad the show is over also I really liked all of the characters equally I couldn’t believe all the dark moments this show had and I agree with everything on this list also I’m really glad I gave this show a chance as I wasn’t totally interested at it at first thinking it was gonna be a boring show (since it was about a teenage girl getting trapped in a world full of talking Amphibians) it just didn’t feel like something I’d enjoy but when the episode Wax Museum was announced and that it was gonna be a crossover with Gravity Falls (which was one of my absolute favorite Disney shows) I decided to watch the episode and I ended up really enjoying it so I decided to watch the rest of the series and I really enjoyed it so then I became a big fan of the show
What about The Shut In? Anne’s scary story is dark!
In fact one of the greatest series I have ever seen since most likely Avatar, gravity falls, svsfoe, and even one piece and dbz, not to mention solid story elements and endearing characters since Iron Giant and Capture The Flag, though I was expecting more the foreshadowing of loosing or sacrificing Anne’s arm and Sasha’s eye

My favorite Amphibia characters are Anne, Sprig, Grime, Hop Pop, Sasha, Marcy and Mr. Ponds and Frog Soos!!!! And for me, the darkest moment in Amphibia is a tie between Marcy getting stabbed and Grime losing his arm.

Marcy's scream is SO BONECHILLING that it gives me nightmares. "Kids show"... When Anne died and was cloned it was dark but that scream will always be darker.

Some of those Darkest moments are painful. Especially when an ancient evil multi eyed creature manipulated & possessed the body of an innocent lovable, cute, bubbly & adorable Brainy child as a puppet for its own terrible, no good, lying, dark schemes! (Panting) At least her inner self wasn’t harmed & she was later freed from the monster by one of her friends. But can’t believe how horrible it was.
A show that started off as simple slice of life story about a girl living with talking frogs would get bigger and better as it goes along.

I think sprig falling should have been in the top 10. I totally agree with this ranking though. Sasha’s sacrifice makes me cry every time! She’s my favorite character, and just knowing you’re going to die is horrifying. She’s so brave. I also cry every time when I see Anne’s sacrifice, and both Marcy scenes. I think Marcy becoming Darcy should have been in the #1 spot though. Just the grabbing her face, and scream of agony was enough to break my heart.

I feel like that when anne loses her power it's not supposed to be scary it more like an anime moment and when the main character loses hope and then get a power boost

My favorite character is Sasha Waybright. Even though she wasn’t in most of season one and two and she’s one of the villains until season three, she has one of the best redemption arcs of all time. Her changes in her outfit in season three symbolizes her evolution and her love of her friends (new armor symbolizing Marcy and removing the ponytail for Anne). Also, why need a therapist when you can be the therapist.
