- So I tried getting my eyebrows laminated for the first time and the results were crazy but...I ended up having a bad allergic reaction lol.

Coming from someone who’s a qualified beautician:
1. She didn’t do a patch test
2. She threaded them before tinting which means the tint could go into an open pore
3. She shouldn’t put make up on 24 hours after

probably because they threaded your eyebrows before putting on the chemicals, leaving the hair follicles open! usually they will wax/thread them as the last step...

No threading only cuts the hair in half it doesn’t actually pull the hair from the root I am a qualified professional of 8 years but if you don’t believe me then google it.
Kasey Beasley I think you need to refresh your training, it definitely does pull hair from the root. You’re not the only qualified threader in the world. Also can’t find anything on google that says otherwise.

It's illegal to get it done with no patch test. My sisters friends does it for a living and got sued for not doing a patch test

You aren’t supposed to touch them after being done at first, your skin has gone through a trauma so using makeup and old brushes to apply it is putting dirt and bacteria into open pores so that’ll be why there was a bad reaction

Maybe the allergic reaction is from you putting on the makeup? Because you’re suppose to wait awhile before you put on makeup and it seems you didn’t have a reaction until you did the makeup.

if you’re not allergic to hair dye, chances are you’re not allergic to the tint. although patch tests are always sensible to do. brow lamination is literally just a perm for your eyebrows and perm solution contains other chemicals which you may also be allergic to. seems rather unprofessional of this place to have provided you with a service without taking correct safety precautions.

But it's important to point out anyone can have an allergic reaction to dye or perming solution at any time. Just because you've dyed your hair for 5 years doesn't mean you can't have an allergic reaction for next time.

I’m literally the same, I’m not allergic to hair dye but I’m allergic to brow tint and my face swells up and burns. Every brow tint I’ve tried I get the same reaction
I have the same allergy and I have had worse reactions. It is from the eyebrow tint, it is a chemical in the tint that is called p-Phenylenediamine. It can be found in all dark hair dyes, tints, and even eyelash tints. You should definitely see a doctor because it gets so much worse. Take care xxxxx
I’m really sensitive to tint (I had the exact same reaction as you) and I can use the refectocil sensitive tint and it’s actually a life saver because it gives the exact same effect just all natural ingredients instead! X

I’m also allergic to eyebrows tint and hair dye, they should of done a patch test! If you want your eyebrows tinted again, ask for a vegan tint! Whatever is in usual tint that causes allergic reactions isn’t in the vegan one, hope the swelling has gone down, I feel your pain x
There’s a sensitive tint you can get called refectocil see if any salons you go to have it! X

Okay so I never had an allergic reaction to hair dye or anything like that when I was younger. I had eyelash extensions and I had a reaction. Stupidly kept getting them done week after week. Went to another eyelash lady and she worked out it was the carbon in the black eyelash glue. She used a sensitive clear glue and I haven’t had a reaction since. It might be the graphite in the tint?? 🤷🏼♀️

I have so many things I can say but I’ll keep it short
Waxing, plucking, threading eyebrows before a tint is a BIG no no. Not to mention she then put keratin on your skin once she had done the hair removal and shaping. Your pores would of been open and the keratin along with the tint would be what’s causing irritation. I’m so sorry this happened to you. That brow artist honestly should of known better. She also should of conducted a patch test with all products to be used 48 hours before your treatment time.

I've had lamination brows and I loved the result for the first like... week. But the perm solution made my brow hair fall out and curl up, went all coarse and just damaged. Like your hair is after a perm. (I'm a hairdresser). it's basically the same stuff for a perm but for brows.
That's what you need to patch test for, which by the looks of it, you didn't have? (Big no no. there's a reason it's the law).
And for the tint too of course.
My guess is your allergic to the perm solution or the tint.. or both!
Mine were itchy for quite a while after I had them done and I won't have them done again. I stick to henna brows which Iove.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets a reaction to tints. I had a patch test when I got mine done and I was fine but when it came to actually having it all done it was the next day my eyes were huge. I went back to my lady and she was in shock I made her take me hospital as she knew what stuff she used like ingredients it turnt out it wasn't the tint it was the prep stuff as she just threaded my brows it was open to anything and that prep stuff caused drama for me. I was given like a cream but it was horrible so ended up just using e45 that helped so much

They are meant to do a patch test before doing the procedure to prevent this from happening, they teach you this at beauty college! Girl u can sue them for this because legally in the uk you are meant to patch test 😢 they looked so good too when they were first done 💕
It's most likely a chemical called paraphenylenediamine in the brow tint. I am allergic to it as well.

I work in a beauty training academy and it's legal requirements to patch test 48 hours before you get any treatment done. Why were you not patch tested?
Also, we're told not to cover over the eyebrows during the process of lamination with clingfilm as it over processes the brows too much.

Eyebrow tint has paraphenylenediamime (ppd) in it and you might be allergic to it
The point of brow lamination is so that the eyebrows stay brushed upward and fluffy so when she kept brushing them flat she was just reversing the point of having them done 😂
This happened to me when I used a brow tint, they itch and feel thick like there’s bits of dry skin in my eyebrow 🤮🤮

I had a reaction to something I put on my face and my face was all bumpy but u couldn't see the bumps u could just feel them and I put olive oil on my face till it looked greasy then wiped it off and the bumps faded away and my skin went rlly soft and they r gone now x hope that might help x

As a beauty therapist I know you should never tint after a thread or wax as it can cause infections. She should have also done a patch test atleast 24 hours before hand
Also when you get itchy n swollen like this take a Benadryl/ antihistamine to reduce itching n swelling. You should also ice and moisturize the area with something indented for sensitive skin!

You should have told them that you had a bad experience before. I do that when I want to do something but I am unsure would I have an allergic reaction. Let them know so they could have tested you before the session. Either is the dye or the lotions.
Lisa Galliano I’m a beautician and I ask this question in my consolation form my insurance wouldn’t cover me if I didn’t and I have to do a patch tests at least 24 hours prior to treatment on all clients also charge no where near £80 don’t know anyone that does either the beautician didn’t abide by the correct procedures or Millie lied if Millie didn’t receive a patch test she could quite possibly make a claim on the beauticians insurance which she is meant to have even with her failing to mention her previous experience depending on the beauticians insurers requirements

If they’re using a tint they should have done a patch test before they even started
I’d say it’s from threading because I get like those bumps too but if they clean you up with witch hazel after the service and you don’t apply makeup for 24 hrs while the pores are still open and the skin is vulnerable it should be fine. I’m just worried that it’s swollen so it might be the tint like you said.
Had an allergic reaction to hair dyed 3 weeks ago my lips and eyes swelled up my whole body was covered in rashes and its just only cleared up
Let’s connect two common factors in this and the lash perm video. Brow lamination actually uses perm solution as well as does lash perm/ permanent lash curling So these being very strong chemicals, you have very sensitive skin and have sensitivities to perm solutions I believe. I also believe you are sensitive to tints as well as adhesives bc these are all involved. So yes you had a mild allergic reaction.i would stay away from these strong chemicals bc you could start scarring and chances are your reactions will continue to get worse the more you expose your skin to these things

At a hair salon I worked in the boss would use hair tint on clients brows not really something I'd recomend... but if it's your only option then try it out? Just make sure you use vaseline and do a patchtest x
