  • Two goofy Disney sidekicks - The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland (1951) and Mr. Smee from Peter Pan (1953) have a lot in common. Although they are different species, they both have white whiskers, glasses, funny nasally voices, and a somewhat bewildered looking expression. They are both assistants to the villains in their stories but they themselves seem to be decent at heart and not really involved in the struggle of good versus evil, just caught in the bureaucracy.
They’re both slaves to the clock. The White Rabbit is, of course late, late for a very important date…
And Mr. Smee has to save Captian Hook from a crocodile who swallowed a clock…
Both characters where voiced by and modeled after comic actor Bill Thompson. Here is in the 1942 film Here We Go Again.
Thompson’s distinct voice gave life to many animated characters including King Hubert in Sleeping Beauty
and Jock in Lady and the Tramp.
I do not own rights to any of the footage. This is a fan tribute.
